I stayed at Hotel Espanya as a female solo traveler and overall had a mixed experience. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made check-in and interactions throughout my stay pleasant. My room was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated after long days out exploring. I had opted for the bed and breakfast option — the breakfast was a basic continental spread. While it was fine for a quick bite, the variety was limited and felt quite minimal over multiple mornings. There were a few downsides to my stay. The hotel is located just outside a train line, and even as a deep sleeper, I found the noise from passing trains disruptive, especially at night. The walls inside the hotel were quite thin as well, so I could clearly hear other guests returning to their rooms in the late hours, which impacted my sleep. Additionally, the street leading to the hotel was poorly lit in the evenings. As a solo traveler, I felt somewhat uneasy walking back after dark — better lighting or security presence would go a long way in improving the sense of safety. In summary, Hotel Espanya has some positive aspects, particularly the friendly staff and cleanliness, but noise levels and location-related concerns may be worth considering, especially for solo travelers or light sleepers.

If you’ve ever wondered what your neighbors are up to at all hours, I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here. The walls are so thin that you’ll feel like you’re living inside a set of walkie-talkies. Every cough, giggle, and snore floats through like you’re in a real-life surround-sound experience. And that’s just the start. Onto the “bedding” situation, or should I say the “blanket dilemma.” Apparently, in this hotel, duvets are as mythical as unicorns. Instead, they’ve provided blankets, which do about as much for warmth as a sheet of paper would in a snowstorm. I’d sooner sleep in a parka than go through another night with those flimsy things. Cozy? Not in this lifetime. Ah, the food! Dinner was a buffet, technically, though I’d argue the definition was stretched to its limit. The spread was as uninspired as it was tasteless. Breakfast had a few more highlights, but let’s not get carried away—it’s clear the culinary department has room for improvement. Oh, and we had to pay for water at dinner, while wine was free. That’s right—stay hydrated only if your wallet allows it. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? The kicker: one staff member in the restaurant was so grumpy that I felt like I’d personally ruined their day just by asking for salt. But, let’s be fair. The reception staff? Absolute gems. Friendly, helpful, and ready to assist at every turn. The air conditioning also worked well, which was much appreciated in a place where tempers (and temperatures) seemed to run high. And last but not least: the aroma. At certain hours, a faint (or not-so-faint) whiff of sewerage wafted through the hallways, adding an “authentic” touch to the experience. Eau de Kloakk, anyone? In conclusion, this hotel experience is best enjoyed if you’re an insomniac with low culinary standards, a love of blankets that double as handkerchiefs, and a taste for adventure in unexpected scents.

It’s an ‘ok’ hotel however I would book somewhere else if I ever came back to Calella. Firstly, the transfer bus drops you off 6/7 minutes walk away, we got dropped off at 2am and had to walk through the streets of people that were out drinking, possibly an issue for some people. The Hotel itself is perfectly located right on the beach front and is 5 mins walk from the train station that can take you to Barcelona. Train line runs directly past the hotel but this caused no issues for us. The hotel room is very underwhelming, very small and basic, the beds are rock solid and the walls are PAPER THIN! you can literally hear everything in the next room!!! No exaggeration.(Big problem) We got Breakfast and dinner with our room, both are very basic, not a great selection for both, only went to Dinner once and was surprised that guests are seated at certain tables by staff, they sat me and my partner in the same table as a random woman when there was lots of other free tables, we asked to be moved with no issues. They also turned the drinks machine off and you had to order your drink from a waiter which I thought was very strange. The roof top area is decent, very small pool but it was quiet every time we were up there and didn’t have an issue getting a sun lounger. Check out is 10am which imo is too early, considering our flight home was 11pm. They allowed us to keep our room open for a €40 fee. Great location but like I said, I would look for a better hotel next time.

Do not be put off by poor reviews. This hotel is in a great location, right opposite to a fantastic beach, 8 minute walk to the railway station, and a few minutes from the main shopping area. There is a really good local supermarket (Consum) a few minutes away, used by locals and very reasonable. The hotel is small and not surrounded by the larger hotels. Our room was overlooking the courtyard and the balcony enjoyed the sun all afternoon and evening. The rooms are very simple yet clean. Adequate for sleeping and a well equipped bathroom. The staff were very good, they immediately sorted our air conditioner as it was not working on arrival. The price paid for August was unbelievably cheap. Hotel had a range of guests of all ages and from various locations. Not many English guests which made us feel like we were actually abroad. The lobby and restaurant area are kept to a high standard. The food at breakfast and dinner was really quite impressive. Fish and seafood on most nights, cooked freshly and plentiful. Food is constantly replenished. Breakfast catered for every need. We travel regularly and must admit that the standard of food is in our top 5. Take the train to Girona and Barcelona, great service and only £10 each.

We stayed here from 07/09/24 - 14/09/24. Had a great stay at Hotel Espanya. Was our first trip away on our own, without kids, for 21 years, and this hotel made it all the more special. The hotel itself, has a great location, close to the beach (3 minute walk), train station on a 5 minute walk, and just around the corner from the main shopping area. Great location for couples and those who want a more laid back break, no larger louts, or party animals at this location. The hotel itself, is a nice peaceful hotel, popular with both young and older guests. The room we had was very clean, but basic, consisting of twin beds, pushed together, table, bedside units, air con, bath and shower, and small balcony, tv and hair dryer. We were happy enough. The restaurant, dining area was large, with plenty to chose from. We chose half board, (breakfast and dinner), and there was always a great selection of fruit, salads, cereals, bakery (wonderful), cooked meals, always something different to choose from, juices, and tea and coffee, you can also choose from drinks at the bar, to go with your dinner. The bar had a great selection of drinks, and they always offered a special discount different cocktail every night, at a cost of 6 euros. You had the choice to sit inside, or in the beer garden. There was an Argentinian guy who comes and performs with a guitar and singing, every Saturday night. He has a great selection of music, and always gets the audience to participate with him, and has a karaoke screen available . Fantastic entertainment. A special mention to all the staff, who were so so friendly, including those who were always keeping the place clean. Rooms were cleaned every day, and towels always changed too. A special mention to the Barman, who's name I forgot. Anna, who seemed to do every job available , and was always there from morning to night, and Ariana, on reception, who was so friendly, and also the other reception staff. Also forgot to mention, you can get beach towels and parasol, for the beach, at no extra cost, from reception. They ask for a card number, for security, the first time you ask for the towels, but no cost taken. You can also rent sun loungers, and parasol for two, at a cost of 14 euros. They give you a ticket to give to the guy on the beach, that organised the loungers. He wasn't very pleasant, to be honest, even though we tried to be pleasant to him. Don't think he has anything to do with the hotel itself. Also the beach bar Xiri 9 opposite the hotel, was also a joy, great selection of food, and drinks and cocktails galore, to get refreshed on the warm day. All and all, a great holiday, at a great hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel, and will no doubt be back again. Thank you 30 Degrees Hotel Espanya

This is just about a 3 star hotel. The reception area was clean and welcoming and the bar was ok but not a place where you wanted to stay. The lift to the various floors was very small and slow. The rooms were very basic and we had to hire a fridge at €4 a day. The mattress was comfortable but the bed frame was metal and were 2 single beds pushed together and were prone to coming apart. The balcony was small but a table would have been useful. The cleaning staff were very good and kept the room very clean.
