Hotel in a quieter area of the resort with some noise from local traffic, kids, animals in early mornings. Check in was easy and staff friendly. Bedrooms were basic and cleaned daily, however walls were paper thin and next doors occupants could be heard snoring in the night, talking on their phones and using the toilet. A great base to explore nearby Girona and Barcelona on the train which was easy to do. Breakfast was good with a good amount of choices. The bar was reasonably priced for drinks. Not great weather meant pool was not used by us on this occasion, but looked OK.

Lovely hotel for families, lots of things for younger kids to do and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Good selection of food and drinks if you’re sticking around the pool for the day, and the indoor soft play area for the younger kids is ideal if you want to keep them busy out of the sun / rain.

I took a short break to this hotel and I don't have a bad word to say...the room was clean and perfectly sized for a solo traveller. The balcony overlooked the garden and pool area. The staff were friendly. The bars well stocked. The food choices had something for everyone and the freshly cooked to order section was a nice touch.

This hotel is spotless. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic but have everything you need for a self catering stay and have aircon. The food at the pool side bar was great as were the cocktails! The sun loungers fill up quickly so I'd advise to get to the pool early. Good location, within walking distance to resort centre and beach and there's a couple of shops close by to stock up on essentials. The kids entertainer was a big hit with kids and adults alike.

I booked the wrong room via loveholidays chat so completely my own error. Reception upgraded me to more appropriate room and I feel at a fair fee. The hotel is charming and the pool area is spacious with more than enough sunloungers. Although I feel Balmes could do with a bit of TLC it was always clean and I enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets. See you next year.

Hotel is lovely and clean and friendly staff...we had a studio room which was very small and the beds were a bit high...we had to climb onto them...but hotel made up for it as food and staff great and beach not far away.... Calella well worth a visit....we hope to go back

Can safely say we would never return to this hotel. We paid 800euros for 5 nights in an ‘apartment’ the smallest, most grim ‘apartment’ I’ve ever stayed in. Definitely not big enough for a family of four and way over priced. Rooms are not sound proof and are extremely run down, I also hope you enjoy your mop and broom being in your small bathroom. The beds are like sleeping on a plank of wood, everything just looks super depressing and I couldn’t wait to leave. Couldn’t comment on the pool area as we always chose to leave the hotel as soon as we got up. I would give this hotel 2 stars at most and would recommend the hotel reevaluating their pricing structure so that your guests get what they pay for… 800 euros is way overpriced for what you get, you could get a lot more for your money elsewhere. Note to hotel…Please don’t leave a defensive response to my review as you have done to your other guests, just act on the negative reviews you have been given.

What a lovely break we have had at this hotel, all staff are so pleasant and welcoming and work very hard, food was plentiful and enjoyable something for everyone, rooms are basic but very clean. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would most definitely return to this hotel if we visit calella again.

Another excellent holiday with the 4th generation of our family to visit Hotel Balmes since my parents first visit in the early 70s. The kids had a fantastic time, thanks especially to Francisco for all the effort he put in organising the Kids Club and the entertainment. He was the best we have ever known in Hotel. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Food was plentiful and varied : there was always something suitable for the kids. Good variety at breakfast. Food in Pool Bar is good and reasonably priced. Rooms are fairly basic but they have a TV and plenty storage. Rooms are cleaned daily. Hotel has a good sized pool with the Splash pool for kids and a jacuzzi. Area around pool is a good size with plenty sunbeds - more parasols would be good. Main shopping street is a 5 minute walk with the Beach a further 5 minutes away. Station is a 15 minute walk with regular trains to resorts further up Coast and to Barcelona. We will be back - the kids can't wait!!!

From the moment we arrived, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, and cleaned every day throughout our stay. Some things could do with updating, but this didn't affect our enjoyment. The food choices were plentiful and delicious every day. I don't eat meat but found lots of alternative options. The pool area looks alot bigger in the photos, but was a nice enough size for a small swim around. The kids pool area was brilliant. It's only minutes from the beach, train station, large supermarkets and a lovely long street, with every shop you need, cafe bars and restaurant. I would go back there tomorrow if I could. Highly recommend for the price.

Supuestamente son un hotel Pet Frendly pero una vez hecha la reserva y pagado llamamos para consultar algunos detalles y me dicen que el perro no se puede quedar solo en el apartamento… Como bajamos a comer o a la piscina donde no puede ir el perro? Vamos por turnos la familia? El trato por teléfono lamentable! Hemos perdido 134 euros que no nos devuelven. Pero que no le pase a nadie mas! NO ES UN HOTEL AMIGO DE LOS ANIMALES!! No lo es y que no le pase a nadie lo que nos ha pasado a nosotros. Vamos a recurrir a todas partes para que esto se sepa y no le pase a nadie mas

I’m currently staying at this hotel with my daughter and my friend and her 2 children. When I say this hotel is the worst I’ve ever seen I mean it. Nothing like described, the splash park has one slide and it’s only suitable for children under 5. A young child not with myself was seriously injured on this slide and had to go to hospital. There is no children club at all no night time entertainment at all basically nothing for the children to do to keep them entertained. We came with a 10,12 and 14yr old. The rooms are old and dated and definitely not clean. I had to moved rooms because there was an ant nest in my bathroom wall and me and my daughter were seriously bit. They were crawling up the walls in the bed etc discussing. My friends room was awful to her toilet did not flush at all and she asked several times for someone to come fix it, it took 3days for someone to come look at it and it’s still not working now and we are on day 6. Food is disgusting, nothing for children at all, just fish every night and I’m travelling with a child with addiction needs and she’s not ate any food at all from the restaurant, she had some marshmallows on the first night and there was ants crawling all over them so she hasn’t wanted to eat anything from there again. The breakfast food is put out the night before and is leftovers. Food in the bar is pretty basic but reasonably priced so probably the only good thing I have to say about the place. Staff are absolutely useless no one can understand English and when we booked a day trip to marineland with them the woman on the front desk gave us the wrong information about the pick up time for the trip and we waited over a hour in a bus stop for a bus that never came because of the wrong information so we then had to pay for a taxi and didn’t arrive until gone 1pm so only had a few hours as it closed at 5. My 14yr old daughter was recorded whilst eating her dinner in the dinner hall and felt uncomfortable. Also if you are a woman avoid at all cost we are older parents in late 30s and didn’t feel safe, we have been propositioned by several men around the area and even asked door staff of one establishment if he would order a taxi for us to get back as we didn’t feel safe to be told he didn’t know how to get a taxi, and let us all walk back to the room and we were followed by several men. Do not come here if you are not with a man you are not safe. Overall the worst holiday I have ever been on and we are all looking forward to going home tomorrow.

4 people on this trip for a short break. We were concerned as such a good deal but we were blown away with the value for money, incredible food and service, rooms spotlessly clean and cleaned every day with fresh towels and constant entertainment. Great position to explore local beaches too. Would highly recommend if you want VFM, nice people and lovely food.

Me and my husband visited for 5 nights and had a lovely time. The room was spotlessly clean and in great condition and was cleaned every day. We stayed half board and thought there was a good variety of food on offer every day. The pool bar was very reasonably priced and the food there was good! The pool was lovely and there were no issues with getting a sun bed. The best thing about the hotel though is the staff - so friendly and helpful…especially the lifeguard who always had a smile for everyone and was so kind. He’s a real credit to the hotel. We would definitely stop here again!!
