Hotel Zenit Calahorra , We have stayed here a few times in the last couple of years whilst going to Santander for a ferry home, usually ok apart from all rooms needing upgrade and they are small but it has been convenient for us. This time was awful very rude staff at the bar totally ignored me, in the end I shouted for service after around 7 mins of waiting for the barman he just kept glancing at me ( no-one else wanted serving) refurb in bar going on looks pretty poor workmanship nothing quite finished. The room was dirty ,scraped marked walls and when I turned light on the whole electrics went off sparks coming out of socket, The small stand up bath had cigarette burns on it and the toilet had some contraption fitted around the bowl, making it awkward to sit on the seat, only 1 sheet on the bed with with blankets in wardrobe and 1 pillow each. When I got out of bed and opened the curtain in the morning there was somebody looking towards me out of their window directly opposite about 8 feet away. Room was very small I had to move the chair into bath as I could not get around bed . The noise from bar below went on all night couldn't sleep eventually got up more tired than when I went for bed which is no good before a long drive . NEVER AGAIN WILL WE GO TO THIS HOTEL ITS DEPRESSINGLY AWFUL LOUD AND VERY RUDE STAFF. I DONT KNOW WHY THEY ARE REFURBISHING THE BAR AREA IT SHOULD BE THE AWFUL BEDROOMS.

My wife and booked this ‘hotel’ via *********** for a one night stay in February 2022. When booking we were not aware that the bar beneath our room would be open all night with truck drivers and young teenagers using the fruit machines, television, bar and other facilities which we could clearly hear. In addition, just outside our room an air conditioning unit was making a dreadful noise, possibly to service the bar. All this stopped us having any sleep whatsoever. By 3:30 am we decided to ask the barman to turn off the air conditioning unit which he was unwilling/refused to do. My wife and I decided to drive away from the hotel at 4:30 am and stop later and sleep in our car. This meant missing our prepaid breakfast which we had to pay for ( the invoice had already been prepared and printed). Despite emailing Zenit head office and the hotel itself I have not had the courtesy of a reply. Finally, my wife and I are in our seventies and have used many hotels but this has been our worst experience.
