I came here late June with my 2 teenagers, I shared with my daughter (15) and my son (19) was in his own room next door. Transfer time is quite long depending on how many stops along the way (hats off to the coach drivers who navigate some tiny streets with ease!) Check in went smoothly but was surprised to see the lobby decor hasn’t changed in the 30 years since I last visited , this and the lifts need updating. The rooms are lovely and bright, bed was only slightly hard for my liking and the pillows are tiny. Bathroom is lovely, shower is nice and powerful and I love the scent of the shower gel but the hairdryer is not good at all (it gets very hot so bring your own if you need one) The air conditioning is so welcome in the extreme heat that Menorca is experiencing at the moment but remember it only works if the balcony doors are closed (don’t close them if you’re on the balcony as you’ll get locked out! This happened to me but my son came to the rescue) Food and drink is plentiful but food quality is a bit hit and miss, sometimes I had bread and cheese for dinner. Breakfast was always good and the snack bar was too so we tended to have our main meals then with picky bits at dinner. The drinks are self service and always cold, fizzy drinks, lager and wines were all good quality. Plenty of cakes, biscuits and desserts to choose from too. The evening entertainment wasn’t always to our taste but I suppose that means there’s something for everyone but there were only 2 acts that I wanted to see out of 7 nights and they didn’t start until 10, I don’t really enjoy sitting through the kids disco or bingo, it’s a shame they couldn’t be earlier. There’s a big area at the back of the hotel that is crying out for tables and chairs, it even has a stage area, would be lovely to sit out there in the evening and listen to music but it’s completely unused. The sunbeds don’t open until 9 and the pool not until 10! Never been to a hotel that had opening hours for these areas. They need to hire more lifeguards so early birds can go for a swim. All the staff are very friendly, polite and efficient. The ‘beach’ is accessed by about 40 steps which I did struggle with and it really isn’t a beach, certainly not somewhere you’d want to sunbathe or build sandcastles. But the cove itself is beyond beautiful and well worth the descent and climb. Snorkelling gear is an absolute must have and this is where to use your inflatables (they’re not allowed in the pool, nor are balls) lots of fish to see and it feels like a safe place to swim even if you’re not really a swimmer like me. My favourite thing was to just float about with my inflatable, heavenly. The town is a short walk away with plenty of restaurants if you want a change. Every kind of cuisine can be found. There also a great bar ‘Maktub’ which is by the dolphin roundabout which is famous for its frozen pints and cocktails. I would definitely come back again, it’s a beautiful location but I think we’ll go somewhere a
