The whole experience was excellent. All staff were great and efficient. Great quality food and drinks, particularly considering quality cost ratio. All common areas, and room continuously being cleaned. Definitely a place I would like to repeat next year.

TERRIBLE STAY!! Still here at present. Hotel is disgusting and dirty. Ants running in your bed. Yellow shower curtain & mould. Dirty cutterly & cups. Maids just make your bed & don't clean properly I've had to ask for clean towels and to empty my bathroom bin & mop my floor! Disgraceful. The food is rotten! We have eaten out every day and night because the food is that diabolical!! Breakfast is put out under lamps at midnight and left there for 7 hours.. not fresh by morning bread has flies on it & the salad is dried up! Pulled the sofa bed out in which I found crumbs and filth all down the side and spilt drinks which have been there for some time built up! Hence why this hotel has a infestation of ants!!! The customers are all German and RUDE! Stare at you like you have 5 heads & there is no entertainment what so ever!! Paid £1500 for two people to stay here and we've spent £1000 on our ten day stay due to having to leave this hotel day and night because it's that AWFUL! I would not recommend anyone to stay here. The hotel is very poor it needs a 0 star not 3! I will never ever return to this hotel or this area. Worst ten days of my life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Save your money!!!!! You have to walk round your hotel room in shoes at all times cause the filth on the floor sticks to your feet.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews that we would not enjoy the hotel. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor, where our apartment opened out to face the kids club area. Perfect for my children to run around, dance, play football, volleyball and table tennis all within view. The hotel itself felt quite small whilst also rarely seeing other guests except from by the pool and restaurant areas. All areas were kept exceptionally clean. The apartment was cleaned daily and we had no sign of ants. The beds were comfy, although the sofa bed may be more suited for a child. Once I popped the second mattress on though it was much more comfortable. The location was good. The closest beach being only a five minute walk away. The shops and restaurants were a five minute walk the opposite direction. The area felt safe enough to allow my eldest to walk to the shop with her nieces. The pool area was the highlight of my children's holiday. They loved the independence from playing to getting themselves a drink or food from the sports bar. They played water polo during the day which my children didn't wish to join in with, however, they didn't feel they couldn't continue to play in the pool, which was a relief. The food at mealtimes was good, fresh and lots of healthy choices. My ASD son did struggle with the food choices at lunch/dinner so I made sure he ate from the sports bar instead. We did eat out a couple of nights too. All the staff worked incredibly hard, all of them continued to be friendly and approachable despite obviously being very busy.

Visited Gavimar La Mirada for 4 nights in August 2024. There were two adults and a 4 year old staying in a one bedroom apartment. Our apartment was on the second floor and was a good size for the three of us. Decent sized bedroom, living room/kitchen with sofa bed and bathroom. The balcony was a bit small but we didn’t spend too much time out there. We arrived at 12pm and given out all inclusive wristbands straight away. The wristbands also included a tag for your room which was a really good idea. The pools and pool area did get a bit crowded but we are always able to find some sunbeds everyday. Be careful around the pool area as it got very slippery, especially as many people didn’t seem to get dried or put or put shoes on when going to the bar for a drink or snack, which meant even if you weren’t near the pool the floor was always wet through. This was the same for the stairs and lift up to our room. The pool bar was self serve unless you wanted a cocktail or spirits. You do have to pay €1 for a plastic cup and the same for a plate. We didn’t mind this at all as it meant there wasn’t loads of plates and glasses everywhere. Food was standard all inclusive buffet style. Always something for everyone. Breakfast was the same stuff everyday with lunch and dinner having different options. Daytime entertainment was okay. Generally splash bingo and then water polo. When these games were going on the main pool was very busy and felt out of bounds if you didn’t want to get involved. Only saw a couple of the night time entertainment acts and they were okay too. Location is great. Close to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. There is a land train stop across the road which is handy, but please take the times on the timetable with a pinch of salt. We really liked the area of the hotel, but probably wouldn’t return to gavimar la mirada.

1 week stay in August. Family of 5 (our children are 6, 4 and 2 years old). FANTASTIC stay!Ordinarily I wouldn’t stay in less than a 4* hotel but the cost of a holiday is £5k+ for us so I booked the 3* Gavimar and wasn’t disappointed. STAFF - excellent!! They go above and beyond to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. I speak Spanish and think it’s important to at least try to communicate in the language of the country where you’re staying. I dealt with reception, restaurant and cleaning staff during the week-long stay and all were pleasant, helpful and hardworking. From what I could hear, they spoke excellent English too when dealing with other guests. My husband celebrated his birthday while here and I emailed the hotel in advance to request a special treat - sure enough, on the day of his birthday they sent a bottle of Cava and a personalised card to our room! RESTAURANT - We booked all inclusive and were pleased with the food. Good selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner with some dishes cooked fresh in front of you (grilled fish, chicken etc). Each night a different theme but alongside this there was a selection of salad, bread, fries, pasta etc to please everyone. Staff work exceptionally hard and Salvador always had a welcoming smile when we arrived to the restaurant. Early breakfast provided on departure day. POOL - Ideal for us; 1 large pool for older kids & adults (with aqua aerobics, water polo etc), 1 pool for children and 1 pool for babies & toddlers. Balls not allowed but this wasn’t an issue. Our children had rubber rings to help them float and a few small toys each. lifeguards do monitor closely but we understood that this is to ensure everyone’s enjoyment and safety. €1 for a glass hire great idea. Food at snack bar is delicious!! ROOM & CLEANLINESS - Wrist band to access room was ideal! We had a 2 bedroom apartment. 2 single beds in each bedroom and a sofa bed big enough for 2 people in lounge. Unfortunately Room 102 has no private balcony and nowhere outside to hang wet towels/swimwear and when stepping out of the room there were often people sunbathing right next to our door on the terrace so this meant a lack of privacy and we weren’t able to allow the children to safely “play out”. In future I’d request different room. We did encounter an issue with ants but it was quickly resolved and no further issues. Otherwise, room was immaculately clean, along with rest of hotel.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at la Mirada, all inclusive, 2 adults and 2 teenagers staying in room 601. 2 bed apartment, very spacious, however the main bedroom is 2 single beds pushed together and the second room is a small double bed. The hotel is not as bad as the reviews on here, in my option it’s a good 3 star hotel. Breakfast is by far the best meal you will get here, even had PG tips tea bags. Lunch is basic, but the pool snack bar was good for burgers, hot dogs, chips or a pre-made sandwich. Evening meals are not the best if you are a fussy eater, we ate out most evenings. It’s not a big issue paying a €1 deposit for a cup or plate (from snack bar) tip, if you go into the restaurant you can bring a plate and glass out to the snack bar with you with no charge. Another good tip is take your own cups with you. We took insulated cups with us, loads bigger than the plastic cups and keeps the drinks a lot cooler. Soft drinks, water, wine, sangria and lager are all self serve, so you can pour as much or as little as your own cup will take, they also have cruzcampo on draught self serve not watered down. Down side to the drinks is they stop serving alcohol at 11pm, so double up on your drinks before 11. Entertainment team are amazing, they all work so hard to ensure guests enjoy their holiday. Bingo around the pool was a great to watch, my kids took part a few times. Also the water polo is another good activity the kids enjoyed. The pool is salt water, not bad but still salt water. The life guards are very strict on no balls in the pool, no matter how small. Older kids really do struggle with what to do in the pool. This often resulted in my son wrestling me most of the time, which was not fun. If your kids like to play table tennis I would say take your own bat and ball. The hotel charge you to hire. Plenty of nice places to eat and drink close by, Yates bar, bongos, mr food, bogart to name a few. Taxi to calador €7, or the ting ting train is €5 an adult. Tutti frutti cocktail bar is a must visit in calador. There are two beaches very close by, one just over the road and the other 9mims walk away. We found the one close by was the better beach. Hotel was good for what we needed, beaches, restaurants and bars all within walking distance.

The Good... The hotel is in a good location for the beach, local shops and restaurants. The reception staff were very helpful. I had a medical issue with my son and they really helped make the situation less stressful. The entertainment staff always had a smile on their face and were great with the kids. The adult bed was very comfy, I almost wanted to steal the pillow it was that cozy. The bad... The accommodation looks quite tired. There were ants in the room, blood stains on my sheets when I arrived, and the children's beds were terribly uncomfortable. The food was not up to much. Some nights you walk about hoping to find something that looks appealing, but it often looked stale and like yesterday's leftovers. You also always feel in a rush as they stop serving breakfast just after 10 and dinner at 9, when most other people want a lie in on holiday, or to have a leisurely few drinks before dinner. If you got there 30 minutes before the end of service you're left with stale looking food. I love fish but didn't eat what was on offer is looked overcooked and it had been there for hours. The lifeguards are ridiculously strict. They tell kids to stop playing catch, even when kids (not even my own) and playing nicely and considerately. Also one lifeguard told my daughter she couldn't have a tiny safety ring, even when she'd been using it all week already. The drinks all taste watered down. I drink a lot but never felt tipsy unless I went out for drinks instead. The sunloungers are very uncomfortable. A third of them are broken too. The water old the taps and shower is very salty. You never really feel clean after a long day in the sun. All aside, it was a great holiday but reading previous, glowing, reviews I had hoped for better.

We have just come back for a week at the hotel with our 15 and 17 year old children. We had been looking forward to going on holiday for a couple of months and having read some of the recent reviews we were a little concerned about what the hotel was going to be like. However I have to disagree with most of the points raised in the reviews and all four of us had a fantastic time. The 1€ for a cup and plate worked really well and the staff were always on hand to help and because of the system there was never any cups, plates or rubbish left lying around. The entertainment team also did a great job I took part in most of the activities that were offered and they tried to included as many people as possible. I didn’t think my teenagers would want to join in with water polo let alone say it was a real highlight for them, they loved it. And splash bingo was something we all looked forward to. The evening entertainment always got people involved and had us laughing most evenings. The location being a 5 minute walk from the beach meant you could add variety to your day. As for the food that was what I would have expected. The breakfast was the best of the three meals and everyday no one went hungry which is always a sign the food was alright. Cruzcampo on tap was a real treat. Room was nothing special but did the job in providing a more than comfortable enough room to sleep in. The wrist bands for door keys was perfect for us as it meant our teenagers could always go back to the room whenever they wanted. All in all I would say exceeded our expectations and provided us with a lovely family holiday and lots of memories.
