For what we paid it’s what you expect for an all inclusive, as a whole we had a nice holiday. Got some sun and chilled out. The hotel is nice but confusing to get around at first but by the end of your first day you will know where everything is. The rooms are very basic but large could do with some decor. The food was alright got bored of it by the end of the week but that’s what you expect when you’re all inclusive. The staff were hit and miss some were helpful such as reception but the restaurant staff were a bit rude. The entertainment team were so nice always fun, anytime you saw them they would always say hi and try get everyone involved special shout out to mathius he was always the life around the hotel.

Honest Review: Unsafe, Unhygienic, Discriminatory inaccessible Hotel Palia Puerto del Sol, Cala d’Or, Mallorca This is the most disappointing and unsafe holiday I’ve ever experienced. I would strongly advise against booking this hotel, especially if you have dietary needs, mobility issues, or care about hygiene and basic safety. The hotel failed on every fundamental level — and I ended up ill with vomiting and diarrhoea, which I believe was directly linked to how the pool hygiene was handled. First Impressions When we arrived, the hotel looked okay on the surface. But within minutes, we saw signs of poor organisation and unfair treatment. Only one staff member was checking people in, and even though several guests were waiting, a Spanish couple were allowed to jump the queue and were checked in first. This set the tone for what felt like preferential treatment for certain guests throughout our stay. ⸻ ️ Rooms & Accessibility Our apartment was very dated, with uneven wooden flooring that felt unsafe — especially for me, as I have a mobility disability. The bathroom had no floor mat, making it very slippery. Although the room was cleaned daily, it was far from safe or accessible. I saw several elderly or disabled guests also struggling with the layout and stairs. The hotel is not suitable for guests with mobility needs. There are stairs everywhere, and steep pathways and although there’s one lift to the restaurant, staff repeatedly turned it off about a hour before mealtimes had finished, my opinion was they were not wanting people to go down to restaurant near closing time this forced elderly and disabled guests to use steep stairs. ️ Food & Hygiene: Dangerous Standards Food was one of the worst parts of this stay. Breakfast was always poor — burnt sausages, sloppy eggs, cold beans, and frozen-in-the-middle hash browns. The fryer oil was black, clearly not changed in days. I saw chefs handling food with bare hands, including one cooking churros in the same filthy oil just used for sausages. There were no allergen labels or ingredient signs anywhere — a huge problem, as my son is dairy-free and I have Crohn’s disease. Because of this, we had to eat at the nearby marina at extra cost, some days I just ate bread and crisp which isn’t acceptable. I raised the issue of cold and inedible food with the manager. His response? “I eat here and I like it.” No apology, no action, and my complaint wasn’t logged. I also saw multiple guests reheating their food in a microwave, which speaks volumes about the kitchen standards. ⸻ Serious Health Incident After Pool Contamination I personally witnessed faeces in the pool, and immediately reported it to staff. Shockingly, it took them over 40 minutes to act. Guests were left swimming in it, and staff seemed unconcerned. The next day I saw a staff member cleaning scum from the side of the pool while people were still in the water — again, completely inappropriate. Two days later, I became unwell

We had a brilliant time here. Definitely would recommend the sea view rooms. Rooms were very big and clean. The staff were all very friendly. Lots of steps but - especially getting the suitcases up to the room! Would definitely go back. Perfect location.

Our opinion only, we are AI veterans and over 50 so keep that in mind. Staff, all work hard, very hard, we had heard there had been some staff cuts so owners please address. Staff completing 10,12 or 14 hour shifts is very difficult. From reception to the cleaners. Very good. Food, good choice, not great but always plenty to choose from. Rooms, tidy, air con not good, cleaned everyday. Location, lovely right on the marina. Lots to do and a short walk into Cala dor. Plenty of restaurants and bars if you prefer to eat out. We travelled into Cala egos which is well worth it, nice town again with plenty to do. Overall we marked as 3 of 5, I could have give 3.5 very close. Would we return, no, think now we have seen Cala dor we would stay closer into town.

I'll start with the negatives as they far outweigh the positives of this hotel. As other reviewers have stated, the hotel has many many steps and is spread out so be prepared to walk your socks off here, especially if you are unfortunate enough to be allocated a room up by the main road above the marina. Upon arrival in our room we were greated by a cockroach - not a good start. We had one bottle of water in the room and nothing else, which given that we were staying all inclusive we would have expected a couple of drinks in the fridge, but no, if you want anything (even a tea bag) you have to go to the bar or restaurant. We had coffee sachets that were never replenished during our stay, but the worst thing is that your water is never replenished either!! We had to repeatedly trudge to reception numerous times a day to fill our original empty bottle from the only water dispenser on site. Its not like you can boil the tap water for drinks because it is salt water. To top things off, we got in one night and went back to reception to refill our water bottle to find the dispenser not working and be told no more water is available til morning!!! So no drinking water for us for the rest of the evening or overnight!! The pools and terrace areas are soul-less and apart from the hemmed in and very small adult pool, the others are very murky. I tried the small plunge pool on the adults only terrace and could barely see my feet! The food is very repetitive and quality of baked beans etc for a hot breakfast was awful. The remainder of the food was passable, but same every day i.e. paella, tomato sauce with pasta and pork loin. Finally our shower had a mind of its own, changing from freezing cold to scaulding hot without moving the dial, but we did have decent water pressure. The toilet seat however was clearly not designed for that toilet and fitted crooked, so you half sat on the toilet bowl rather than the seat. Service at the roof top bar was terrible, hotel guests seemed to be the lowest priority and queues were endless especially in the evening, or in the daytime when staff had disappeared! The positives are that aside from pool water, the place seemed generally clean. Cleaners came and changed towels every day and cleaned to a good standard. Our aircon worked great. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a lovely position overlooking the marina, but be aware, the nearest beach is 20 mins walk and as the hotel shuttle bus to Cala Gran beach does not start running until 10am, you won't get a sunbed/parasol on the beach by that time (in July at least). Also, Cala D'or town is a 20-25 mins walk and Cala Egos restaurants and shops approx. 20 mins in the other direction. Taxis are plentiful and reasonably priced though. Hope people find this review useful, sadly we wouldn't stay here again if we were paid to!

ROOMS Rooms are very spread out across the hotel and it is difficult to find them when you first arrive. Standard room was very spacious, had main bedroom and lounge area with TV, fridge, sofa etc. the room was generally clean but we noticed a lot of damp spots on the ceilings in both rooms, and damp/mould on the light shades (see photos). The ‘balcony’ was very big but the view was not the best (this was room 028). The bathroom was a good size and good shower. Air con in the room is very good. STAFF Reception staff were fairly nice. When arriving we didn’t get shown to our room, the hotel is very big and has multiple buildings separate from each other so it was difficult to find the room. Would be worse if you had kids or a lot of luggage with you. Restaurant staff were fine. Amount of bar staff was very limited, only usually had one person on each bar, even at night time during entertainment. They were quite rude and seemed ‘annoyed’ if we asked for anything even as simple as a cup of water. LOCATION Location of the hotel is good for the marina there is lots of restaurants. SPAR shop is a 5 minute walk right out of the hotel restaurant. Cala d’Or centre is around 15 minutes walk, however there is many steps and steep hills. Taxis seem limited in the area however there is a number which the hotel can provide. This area is not accessible for people with children or accessibility needs as there is a lot of steps, stairs and narrow pavements. The yellow and green train is very good to get to Cala d’Or centre without having to walk, would recommend this. The hotel also offers free shuttle bus every 10 mins to Cala Gran which is great. POOLS There are 4 pools, we only used the adults only and main pool area. At the adults only pool it is small and does get crowded sometimes. The bar is barely staffed, there is sometimes one staff member but they come and go very often, it seemed they were avoiding serving. There is enough sun beds in that area it wasn’t difficult to find a bed at around 11am, however later in the afternoon it is usually full as expected. The main pool is busier and this is where the day entertainment happens. The snack bar is located here, staffing is better and they were more friendly. In general they are good and spacious but both pools were very dirty, the adult pool was worse as it was smaller and seemed it didn’t even get cleaned. FOOD/DRINK Restaurant is located across the road from the rooms and downstairs below the adults only pool. There is not many signs so it is difficult to find the first night. Restaurant space was good, lots of indoor and outdoor shaded seating and not too crowded. There is a cat which roams around the restaurant. Food was as expected for the rating, it had a really good selection of desserts and salad options. Hot meals were mainly fish, and were quite repetitive and always cold even if going to the restaurant at 7pm when opened. They always had plain pasta with sauce, chips and chicken nugget

To add to my recent review about this hotel being unhygienic and unsafe to be around for your own health, here are some pictures to show you what you are greeted with at 10am in the morning. Proof that they absolutely do not clean the pool or the surrounding areas. Please do not risk your own health and spend money on this hotel. I am outraged at this.
