I have just returned from a week at Cala d'or Playa apartments, along with my husband and two sons, my mum, brother, and sister in law. We had a fantastic time!! The location is great, in a quiet, residential area but a short 5-10 minute walk from the bars and restaurants. The nearest supermarket is only 2 mins out the front of the hotel, directly opposite the kids' play park which had go karts, bungee trampolines and bouncy castles. Cala Gran Beach is a 2 minute walk out of the back gates by the park and is worth a visit! The rooms are spotless! Cleaned every other day to a high standard. The rooms are modern and the beds are super comfortable! The air conditioning was the best we have ever had in a hotel! Which was a god send, given the fact it was scorching hot! It was so nice to be able to go back to a chilled room to escape the heat! Unfortunately, our shower wasn't great. The pressure was weak, and the temperature wasn't consistent, but we put this down to the fact that the hotel was very busy and we were showering at peak times. Our room was in block b, which we found to be lovely and quiet. So if you are travelling with young children, this would be a good option. The pool area was a huge hit with our boys! They had so much fun on the slides. It'ss a real shame that it doesn't open until 10am, especially as the sun is so hot so early. I think 9am would be much better? Im afraid to say, you have to reserve a bed here unless you dont want one. The hotel forbids reserving them, but there aren't enough for everyone. We got up early each morning and put towels down by 7:15, by this time most of the ones along the poolside were already gone. We would always be down on our beds no later than 8:30am. I would suggest that if people aren't on their beds by 8:30 - the towels get removed. There were people that thought it was acceptable to put a towel down and then rock up to the pool after lunch!! The lifeguard doesn't turn up until just after 10am. I only saw them putting signs out once. If you dont want people reserving loungers, I think the only way to stop it would be to chain them up until the pool opens? People can then decide if they want to que earlier for a bed? Im sure everyone has an opinion on this? I have marked down one star for this reason, and for the fact that the parasols are ridiculous! They are huge and have to be shared with a number of other beds. Which means that if you want sun and want to put the parasol down, you then have to take away some else's shade. Not ideal! I think a smaller parasol per two beds would be much better? There is an option to choose a sun lounger on a row without the huge parasols and just buy your own from the shop. I saw a few others doing this. The food that we had here was great! We were self-catering, so we ate out in the evenings most of the time, but we had lunch at the hotel a few times, and it was lovely! Freshly prepared and well priced. The cocktails are amazing! But they are expensive
