"The hotel was extremely customer friendly. We had booked an ocean view room and they initially did not put us in that. When we went to get it corrected, they not only put us in an oceanview room but also gave us free breakfast for two days. The staff was incredibly friendly. The location was super convenient.Overall was a fantastic stop."
"Excellent hotel, 8 minutes walk from the pier, great location, good service at the counter, luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, simple and classy rooms, beautiful swimming pool although not used, breakfast above standard, coin-operated laundry room."
"Pros: Great location, right next to the night market, making it super convenient.
Cons: The hygiene really wasn't up to par. Upon entering, there was a strong musty odor. Though common in tropical climates, it was still quite off-putting. What was truly unacceptable was that our pillowcases were dirty. This is not the standard one would expect from a higher-end hotel. I noticed this immediately upon arrival, which led me to suspect the sheets likely hadn't been thoroughly cleaned either. Furthermore, the room was quite small.
Overall: Despite these issues, there weren't many better options available. It's still regarded as one of Cairns' better hotels, boasting seemingly newer furnishings and decor than its competitors, so you just have to make do. For Chinese tourists visiting Australia, I'd suggest bringing your own disposable pillow and duvet covers for a slightly better experience."

"This place is great for families with kids, boasting a playground, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. Our children had an absolute blast! The room facilities were a bit cramped and basic, and transportation was limited to taxis. However, we were generally satisfied with our stay and would recommend it."
"Good location, only a very short walk to the sea from walk along the esplanade. The breakfast is good and the staff are very friendly. There's an activities desk in reception and they offer plenty of choice."
"We stayed in the lovely and spacious executive king room, but unfortunately had to move to a deluxe king room with a balcony on the second night due to the executive room being fully booked. We were somewhat disappointed as the deluxe room felt older and less well-maintained, a noticeable downgrade. However, we appreciated the convenient second-floor area with complimentary coffee, books, and games, and the hotel's location was ideal; close to restaurants and shops yet peaceful."
"The room was very nice and spacious. There was a lot of free tea, coffee and chocolate in the mini bar. The harbour view room was very nice. The only downside was that the equipment was a bit old and the balcony curtain had several holes. I called the waiter and he changed it quickly."
"I stayed here twice - the first time, an ordinary room, the 2nd time, I thought maybe the Horizon Club might be a higher level. Before I say anything, I may choose to stay again for the location! This property is not 'Shangri-LA' as you would expect - the windows are all dirty which is disappointing for 'Marina View' rooms... The Horizon lounge furniture is closer to school lunch hall style, and the dinner - well, I don't eat in food halls with sausage rolls and spring rolls. We ate in the main street which was AWESOME!. The ping pong table is bent, bats are without surface, and the air hockey machine without pucks.. Basically a 'cashing in on the brand' experience..."
"Overall a pleasant stay, however location was a bit far from city centre than expected.
Room was very spacious, great service, clean sheets and towels, nonetheless the hotel in general was a bit old, only the restaurant area and the pool was refurbished, rooms would probably need some updates (Though I would say 80% hotels in Cairns are pretty aged). Overall satisfactory given the price👍"
"This hotels wins the first place among other hotels on our Cairns trip! Brand new with mazing staff who are always there to make your stay perfect. The hotel has four pools in this nice courtyard area facing the beach, so you can swim with the view. Yet, the pools are not crowded at all. Family pool doesn’t look like, yet it is shallow with sand, little fountains and everyone seemed to have fun in there. Rooms are spacious and the beds are super comfy. Balconies are made for outdoor use with furniture and even night light. The view is worth the price!"

GGuest UserThis booking is one of the rare ones I had serious dissatisfaction so I had to write a long review. First the information on the booking page is not fully transparent. We were only made aware that the 2 bedroom suite we booked does not offer daily room cleaning service. Cleaning service comes in only every 3 days of stay (so for 5 nights we stayed, the room was cleaned only once!) If this was well informed, I probably would not consider booking this room.
Second, the service was almost non-existent. When they said clean towels can be offered upon request, the towels were literally left on the table top immediate behind the front door. On the “clean day”, we were amazed to find toilet brush and bin left on the closed toilet bowl, ants were spotted near the sink, tissue boxes were not refilled, and pillow cases had clear sign of dirty marks.
Despite a 5-night stay, hotel didn’t allow any late check out beyond 12pm. Front desk insisted an hourly fee and different people were giving different fee rates. This was again confusing and disappointing.
Pls also note overnight parking is charged at $12 per night.
Breakfast offered at $28/pax had limited choices (basic international breakfast)
Other than above, the room is generally clean. We didn’t have a chance to explore other parts of the hotel so no comment on the amenities. The location was fantastic, within walking distance to the pier and good selection of food options.

AAnonymous UserThe room was pretty clean, however was left unimpressed when I came across a cockroach in the shower. The space was just alright for the two of us. The breakfast was very basic and they didn't start on time at 7am as advertised.

GGuest UserThe location is really good! You can walk anywhere, buy groceries at the mart right in front, and cook at the shared restaurant.
The staff are all friendly, the bedrooms are ethnic, and the facilities are not bad!
The downside is that the shower room smells a bit like a sewer, and the fire alarm often goes off, so we have to evacuate as a group....

GGuest UserI had a great stay at Gilligan’s! The room was spacious and clean, and I was even lucky enough to have the whole dorm to myself one night. I still managed to meet plenty of people, despite being a solo traveller, thanks to the social atmosphere and nightlife. It’s worth noting that the bar/club area didn’t really get busy until late in the evening (11:30pm onwards), and the hostel is pretty deserted during the day thanks to everyone being out on tours/experiences. My room was overlooking the pool/bar area, so did get noisy at night, but the hostel offers free earplugs at reception which did the trick. It was great to have an en-suite in the room, and the bathroom was in good condition. The location is ideal, right within the hub of Cairns City, however I didn’t feel particularly safe as a solo female traveller in the area at night, so it’s definitely important to be aware of that/travel in a group where possible. The on-site travel agency is helpful and approachable, and staying at the hostel means that you can get discounted drinks at the bar and free club entry before 11pm. I didn’t end up going to any of the weekday themed nights, but at the weekend the vibes downstairs were good. I would definitely recommend Gilligan’s to any young solo/group travellers who want to meet new people and experience Cairns’ party scene at a budget-friendly price!

GGuest UserI recently stayed at Southern Cross Atrium Apartments and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is definitely one of the highlights—it’s conveniently situated within walking distance of the ferry terminal, which was perfect for my Great Barrier Reef outing. Additionally, having supermarkets nearby made it easy to pick up groceries and essentials, adding to the convenience.
The room itself was well-equipped, especially for longer stays. It came with a full set of cooking utensils and kitchen facilities, which made it easy to prepare meals and feel at home.
However, one drawback was the WiFi. The signal in the room was quite weak, which made it difficult to get online consistently. This was a bit frustrating, especially when I needed to do some research or planning for the next day’s activities. I often had to move around to find a better signal, which wasn’t ideal.
Overall, Southern Cross Atrium Apartments offers great value with its prime location and self-contained rooms, but improving the WiFi would make the stay even better for travelers who need reliable internet access.

AAnonymous UserIt was a little far from the center, but it was only about a 10-minute walk, so it wasn't a problem.
The room was clean and comfortable.
The view from the window was also nice✨
There was no cleaning service, and the towels could only be changed at the front desk at the right time, so that was the only inconvenience💦

PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.

SStella NJ LinClean public kitchen and swimming pool. The cleaning lady tidied the room very cleanly and quickly. It is very close to the public swimming pool, so you can just change your clothes and walk over. It is right next to it.

AAnonymous UserHad a wonderful stay at cairns queen court! All the staff were super friendly. They always try their very best to help with our questions and provide suggestions to our trip planning! However, beware of the morning (ard 6:30am) house keeping if you wanna sleep in~ overall, I enjoyed staying there and had lot of fun in Cairns!
