There are various shops in the area, so there is no problem. The room is neat and clean. I didn't have a problem with eating. The customer service and service were very good.

I booked and pre-paid for three nights at this property - but would gladly have moved out immediately had I been able to do so. Reception seems to have very loose hours - I never saw anyone staffing reception. The carpet was stained and marked, the curtains were filthy and did not close properly. Doors and walls had crudely patched and repainted repairs. Garden bed was full of discarded cigarette butts and other litter. Bathroom taps were very hard to turn off - so drips were a constant source of annoyance. Laundry floor filthy. Ceiling lighting: 2 / 4 out of action. I asked Manager to repair or replace. No action. No response. No room servicing. Internet said this place had a restaurant and bar. Nope. Closed. A/con unit did not heat - but was so noisy I would not have used it even it it did heat the room. A very unpleasant experience all round. Do not stay at this property.

My wife and I stayed at Cairns Holiday park for one week in an ensuite site. While the sites are drive through they are not long enough to stay hitched. Also, the roads are narrow making parking a bit difficult. It took a bit of manoeuvring to get out as well, luckily there was no-one in the site in front, so we managed to drive through. The park is in a great location within easy drive to everything in Cairns, although not much is in walking distance. The ensuite was in reasonably good condition, but what made it special was that it was 'refreshed' half way through our stay. We do not use ensuite sites a lot, but this was the first time we had an ensuite cleaned and toilet paper, towels and soap replaced - we really appreciated that extra touch. There is a bit of road noise, but it did not disturb us a great deal. Also, it is not far off the flight path for Cairns Airport, but again we did not find it a problem. There were no overnight flights so it did not disturb our sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, this was a very good caravan park, probably a good choice to stay in Cairns.
Palm Royale Cairns

Nice large clean room, plenty of tea, coffee etc. provided. Staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Raintrees Shopping centre across the road where busses leave for the city every few minutes, there was even a covered waiting area just outside the resort for tour pick ups. I definitely recommend Palm Royale.

The photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. When I got there the room smelt of mould. I was told that was the smell of the cleaning products, but I am not stupid so I insisted they change the room. They did, but it was infested with ants. They were in the sink area, on the counter, in the bathroom, and around the toilet bowl. They even got into the wardrobe. I spoke to reception about it and all I got was a ”there is nothing we can do for you”. They sent someone after 2 days (as I had to wait since it was Sunday as if I hadn't paid for the weekend!) and he also said there was nothing he could do. I complained to booking.com and they told them they had upgraded me - BIG FAT LIE. Very quick to send me messages to leave reviews (here you have it!) but not to resolve issues. There was also an electrical fault that destroyed two expensive universal adapters. The hotel did nothing to compensate for this. Again ”there is nothing we can do for you” is what I got. I lost a day's pay as I could not work without a power supply, had to purchase new adapters the following day, and all they could say is ”there is nothing we can do for you”. What kind of hotel doesn't have adapters? The AC unit was exposed, the door was tricky to lock/unlock (the receptionist had to show me how to lock the door), and there is no one available at night in case something goes wrong. Lastly, the listing says daily cleaning but this is not true. You are only allowed to ask for it once in the middle of your stay and you need to request this. I did and she barely cleaned anything, just a quick vacuum and change of sheets and some towels (not all). My sincere advice as a world traveller: STAY AWAY FROM HOTEL TROPIQ. Their customer service is ZERO. Quick to take credit card details but then refuse to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong within the service. You just have to accept a ”there is nothing we can do for you”. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy!
