YHA Snowdon PEN-y-Pass

Pleased to stay in YHA as planning for hike Snowdon early in the morning. It is also accessible with public transport hourly. Rooms are clean & well served with youths. Have water fill area, drying area, catering area(can cook/reheat meals self), free wifi, bar & rest area. The staffs are also good & friendly. Very much recommend to stay YHA if wanna hike for Snowdon from Miner/PYG track early in the morning.

This hotel was good and price is quite reasonable. And the most important thing is that the area of this city was really beautiful. Hill sights view was really really good.

We arrived at Snowdon Pen-Y-Pass around 9:45 p.m after Hiking the Ranger Path just in time for check-in. No parking on site & Dinner service was close. We collected our room keys and headed straight to Caernarfon town for dinner. Unfortunately, Our room was filthy, and the toilet and bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned. Since everything was closed by the time we arrived to checked in, we couldn't report the issue to the manager. Note: Photo ID is a must for all guests (except children). Having stayed in other YHA hostels, this one did not meet the standards in terms of cleanliness and parking support. Thankfully, we found overnight parking space for £40, booking via JustPark was difficult due to poor internet connectivity on site, however we managed to get Wi-Fi at Pen-y-Pass Warden Centre. The car park is wardened and has toilet facilities, but spaces are extremely limited. If full, drivers are advised to use the Park & Ride at Nant Peris (3 miles down the pass), though it's important to check the bus timetable in advance, last bus service is at 7 p.m.

I’ve just completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours to raise funds for a veterans’ charity. Last night, I arrived at Pen y Pass hostel hoping to catch a few hours of sleep before tackling the final peak—only to discover I’d booked the wrong date! The hostel was fully booked, but the young man on reception (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) and the manager went above and beyond to help me. Their kindness and true Welsh hospitality made this charity challenge possible. Diolch o galon—Cymru am byth!
