Hotel Carline

Tricky one to review. We booked it through Leger holidays, who were advertising it as 3 to 4 star hotel. It’s clearly not, but that’s the fault of Leger and not the hotel, so I can’t blame them for that. Based on the hotel’s official 2 star rating, I’ll review it on that. Strengths: The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very basic, but pleasant. We ate in the restaurant one evening, and we had a nice three course meal for €20, which was very reasonable. Our room was clean, as was the majority of the hotel. There is easy and quick access to the tram station, which gets you into Caen town in less than 15 minutes. Areas for development: The room is like a cell. There are no ceiling lights at all and a very small box window. The only light sources are two lamps either side of the bed. It was so dark and depressing. Our double room was actually two twin beds put together - I kept disappearing between them during the night. The shower is ridiculous. It’s the tiniest little cubicle I’ve ever seen and you have to position yourself at a really weird angle to get under the water! There were questionable stains on the mattress. The room wasn’t cleaned in the five days that we stayed. Apparently it’s a policy that they put in place during covid. Maybe no one has told them Covid is over? Overall I’d say it was ok I guess, but I wouldn’t stay here again!

Arrived about 2100 after being on a bus for 5 hours. Hotel staff very pleasant and talk very good English. The hotel is located in an urban industrial area with local transport. The rooms were clean and tidy, very small whilst sharing. We were locked on the ground floor. The showers are very small, if you have any disabilities will cause a problem. Breakfast standard continetail if on a tour eat well. Main meals great each night different choice . Overall clan tidy hotel could be updated and be aware of showers, and beds not made every day.

The Hotel room was the worst I've ever experienced, grim, dark, dated, and grubby, couldn't get it the shower, electric lamp switch held together with tape. I didn't chance any of the food, We didn't bother complaining because the tour guide had told us it was closing the next week for a refurb, It was poor of leger to put us I such a poor hotel, wont go with them again

We were on the Leger Battlefield tour to the D Day landings and they used this hotel. It is very good indeed. Reception staff speak excellent English and are very obliging. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The shower cabinets are small and tight. Of note is the excellent restaurant. A fine breakfast was provided and a good menu was offered every evening. We are in the hotel on three nights and enjoyed buffet starters and sweets as well as a choice of three main courses. Staff in the restaurant were excellent, smiling and attentive.

Very basic hotel. Rooms dreary and depressing with extremely poor lighting. Awful beds and extremely poor pillows. No air conditioning! Only redeeming thing is lovely and friendly staff. Breakfast just adequate. Outside area available to sit.

Helpful friendly receptionist, smallish room but comfortable beds, small bathroom and shower. Rooms a bit stuffy could use some Aircon.

Friendly helpful receptionist, good parking. The hotel restaurant was closed but fortunately there is a good restaurant next door. Small but clean and comfortable bedroom, very small bathroom and shower. No Aircon in bedroom so a bit stuffy.

We were on a 5 day guided tour by a leading battlefields tour operator. The hotel is located about 2 miles from Caen centre, a 15 minute tram ride, (the tram stop is located close to the hotel). Or a 45 minute walk. The hotel has approx 30 rooms, a restaurant area and a bar, it is a budget hotel. Staff are very friendly & helpful but are not supported with much in the way of systems and support. Food is value for money and good for the price. The rooms are poor, we had two single beds pushed together to make a "double", a chair and an area to hang clothes and little else. The bathrooms were not to a standard I would expect. Beware those of you that are slightly overweight, the challenging shower doors await you! Enough said.

CHAMBRE PROPRE LITERIE NORMAL, petit problème de remontée odeur dans la salle de bain qui sont désagréables . Pensé à donner le ticket du paiement a l'accueil pour permettre de savoir combien était la chambre pour les deux jours et les petit déjeuner aussi .
