We stayed here on 16th September for 3 nights. What an amazing place! It is so peaceful & tranquil! The lodge itself is perfect, spotlessly clean & has everything you need. The hot tub was amazing at the end of a day's walking. We loved sitting outside feeding the ducks & swans, what a privilege! The Swan came right up the ramp to the gate in the morning. I could have just sat there all day! It's the nicest lodge we've ever been in. We will definitely be back next year!

A perfect haven. Beautiful clean lodge with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We were visited every day by ducks, swans, and even an owl at dusk. We would recommend it and will be back for another stay. The team were so helpful and welcoming. So lovely.

This is a stunning location and the lodge we stayed in (Fieldfare) was excellent. It had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The boat was a real treat and we really enjoyed getting out onto the water. We loved being able to watch the birds from the jacuzzi, which was huge for a 2-person lodge, and being able to sit in bed with a tea in the morning and look out over the lake. However, due to the closeness of the lodges, the tranquility of your stay is dictated by how quiet the guests in the other lodges are. Judging by the reviews, it seems we were *extremely* unlucky to stay at a time when more than one of our neighbours had decided this was the perfect place to sit and get drunk in a hot tub from the moment of waking up until late into the night, with loud music, screaming and shouting. After a very stressful few months, the intention of coming here for a short 2 night stay was to enjoy the peace and quiet that's advertised, and instead I had to make a noise complaint as soon as we arrived. While things initially calmed down, the noise ramped up again first thing the next the morning and I had to continue to battle to get the tranquility I paid for (bearing in mind it's made very clear when booking and is indicated within the lodges that you should not be able to hear other guests and they should not hear you - it's not a 'get drunk and do whatever you want' kind of place). We went for a walk around the lake to get away from the noise and could still hear them on the other side, it was inescapable. To give full credit to the owners, who were unfortunately not there during our stay to witness for themselves the disturbance or enforce their own rules, they did everything they could remotely to help, and they did succeed in restoring quiet from one lodge, only for another lodge to then become increasingly disruptive as the evening wore on. At this point, our stay was almost over and we didn't want to continue having to complain, we just wanted to try to enjoy what little time we had left. I ended up sleeping with ear plugs in to block out the sound of our neighbours' music - I don't even have to do that when going to bed in my city centre flat. Our dogs also struggled with the noise levels, and were unsettled during the trip. I felt so deflated upon leaving yesterday that giving 4 stars feels generous, but it would be unfair to award less than 4 for such a lovely place, and it is clear that others have had the experience I wanted for us. I do also acknowledge that the behaviour of guests is mostly out of the owner's control. However, given the clear marketing of peace and tranquility, it's disappointing that this is not really enforced properly at all times. It's a real shame, as were it not for our noisy and inconsiderate neighbours, it would have been the perfect place.

Just arrived back from a 6 night stay in Fieldfare lodge, and I can honestly say, we both feel so relaxed and recharged. We were wanting peace, quiet and relaxation - the Tranquil Otter ticked all these boxes! The lodges are beautiful and there is everything that you need. Glorious hot tub overlooking the lough and wood burner for a cosy night in. The lodges appear quite close together initially, however, each is angled towards the lough, so you are not overlooked. You wouldn't really know you had neighbours! The views of the lough from the lodges is stunning; an ever changing picture postcard. Beautiful to watch the sun rise and fall, especially at this time of year. We took our three year old Spaniel, and he was in doggy paradise. At your back door, there is a 30 - 40 minute circular woodland walk around the lough, he enjoyed running off lead and exploring new smells. Would we return? Yes. Would we recommend? Most definitely! Special thanks to Grace, so welcoming and helpful. Maria, Pete and Ted.

Following returning from a couple of days in Fieldfare lodge, I felt that I must leave a positive review! The views were unbelievable, the photos don’t do them justice. Everything in the lodge was perfect - there is nothing more you could possibly want. The boat, hot tub and log burner were lovely additions and the local walks were great too. There is so much to do around the local area that we wish we had booked to stay longer - we most certainly will be back again. The 5 hour drive was 100% worth it!

What a lovely place! We (2 adults, 16 and 10 year old plus our dog) visited in October, weather was mixed but the Lough always looked fantastic. Great to take the boat out and get closer to the Swans and ducks. Hot tub was used every day, usually after a big walk. We had a really clear night and the star gazing was amazing! Log fire lovely at night too. The lodges are well kitted out, really comfortable beds and recliner sofa. Definitely hoping to return at some point!

As a returning customer the Buzzard Lodge this time around was excellent. A very warm lodge presented us with loyalty (returning customer) products awaiting us. Very comfortable and just a very pleasant stay. One slight criticism was that the main bathroom floor around the base of the bath along with the seating on one of the sofas hadn't been cleaned effectively but this was just a very small part of what was generally a very clean place. Towels, dressing gowns etc were placed very nicely and ready for use. Overall, excellent and would definitely return.

We booked last minute for a random overnight stay that had come up, after watching on social media for a while. Our only regret is that it was just one night! We stayed in Gadwall and it was a 3 hour drive for us, and absolutely worth it. We spent time in the hot tub and relaxed in the lodge. We take a lot of these type of breaks and this is my favourite accommodation so far- the views over the lake were stunning and we were visited by ducks and swans. We took food with us and it is quite rural but we did see someone having an Asda shop delivered. As someone said above, take wellies! We will be back!

This was our second holiday at The Tranquil Otter. There was a lovely welcome back note waiting for us when we arrived along with a basket of tasty treats. I am disabled and the lodge was perfect for me with a large wetroom with plenty of grabrails and a roll-in shower. They also provided a shower chair. The view over the lake was lovely and the place was just so peaceful and relaxing. There was a mobility scooter available to use around the lakeside path but, unfortunately, due to torrential rain on the first day of our holiday it looked to muddy to attempt it. We will definitely stay there again.
