I can't provide a personal review of the hotel myself since it was one of my friends who stayed there. However, I can certainly comment on the prices at the pool, which I found to be a total rip-off. The hotel owner seemed very friendly and offered my friend the opportunity to invite his travel companions for a day by the pool. However, the owner failed to mention the €10 entrance fee per person (there were 11 of us in total). To make matters worse, they charged an exorbitant €10 for a portion of "Home made" potato fries, consisting of only 8-10 pieces. For 6 portions, we ended up paying a staggering €60! This pricing is outrageous and clearly a rip-off. I struggle to comprehend how the owner expects to retain customers or receive positive recommendations with such inflated prices. We would have been more inclined to recommend the hotel if they had more reasonable and "normal" prices. Stay away!

The staff are amazingly friendly and the breakfast was excellent cheap good value for money overall. Only complaint no hairdryer in room but one was brought straight away. Up hill walk from beach. We paid 137 euros for a standard room.

Friendly hotel in a great town. Walking distance to everything. All the restaurants are 5 minutes away. The beach is divine also walking distance. Rooms are basic but well kept. Wonderful staff. Very informative. Try to get a room facing the ocean.

I am sorry that I have to write a bad review of this hotel but I feel it's my duty to inform other travelers. While the location is wonderful and the staff is very nice, the place is badly in need of a make over shape over. The decor and finishes remind of a motel in Florida USA from the 1960s. It's very outdated and spartan. The sheets and towels and furniture are just very poor quality. It's a low budget motel for a relatively high cost. I also didn't like being nickled and dimed for cappuccino at breakfast. No other hotel in Europe that i have been to does that. Or $5 for a beach towel/pool towel. I am glad I got to see love Burgao beach but couldn't wait to check out of the hotel.

If what you are looking for is an Algarve beach without the tourist trappings, Burgau is the place. And if you are going to spend your day outside exploring, then this hotel is your place. It is impeccably clean, and a bit spartan. You are not paying for a TV or a hair dryer, and sure the air conditioning is portable and only turns on when you are in the room... but clean, safe, airy and friendly is all you need when in this charming village.

From the moment I arrived I was treated like beloved family. On my first night Christina, the owner of the hotel and an excellent cook, prepared a divine three course meal featuring local sea bass that was one of the highlights of my trip. Don’t miss the opportunity for a meal like this, it would be a great value at twice the price! On another night when I returned exhausted from my adventures she made a soup just for me! The breakfasts were wonderful as well and feature gluten-free sweets. The Hotel Burgau is all about eco-tourism. There are biologists and geologists on staff and special nights featuring special programs on unique aspects of this particular corner of the world. I took a nature walk with Sofia, on of the hotel biologists, along the coast to Boca de Rio where the hotel picked us up. The coastline is breathtaking and it was wonderful to learn about the local plants and birds. The village of Burgau is charming with a sandy,sheltered beach. It is like the Portuguese version of Santorini. The village climbs the surrounding hills and is dotted with cute cafes overlooking the water. The hotel is perched on top of the hill. My room was simple but had everything I need. From my balcony I had a view over the rooftops and the sea. There is also a large pool for days when the ocean is too cold.

We spent two nights and were spoilt by the manager who surprised me with a birthday cake! We were so touched. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are simple and private. We had a small balcony with a nature view and the sea. The staff are nature lovers and have an in-house botanist - we learnt a lot about the local plants of the area. Beautiful cliff walks right from the hotel.

EVITEZ Hôtel Burgau Turismo de Natureza Hôtel dans son jus des années 70, seul le tarif à été adapté ! Nous avons réservé une chambre double supérieure vue mer avec petit déjeuner au tarif de 245 € pour une nuit. En arrivant nous avons été surpris par la vétusté de l'établissement et de la chambre supérieure mis à part une vue magnifique sur la mer ! Climatisation tellement bruyante et peu efficace, ne peut être utilisée la nuit malgré la chaleur. De plus, 12€ inclus pour le petit déjeuner : pas de pain ! Confiture, miel, toaster mais pas de pain! Passez votre chemin car nous avons logé les jours précédents dans des hôtels 4* de la région, avec vue mer, mobilier et équipements haut de gamme pour tarif moins élevé.

Não conhecia o Burgau, gostei da tranquilidade, das caminhadas na natureza, da vista deslumbrante que nos acompanhou até à praia da luz e das cabanas velhas. O hotel é ***, com um preço um pouco acima para o que oferece. O pequeno almoço está incluído na tarifa, tem o essencial, a manteiga é vegetal, os quentes repetem-se diariamente: ovos cozidos, chouriço e bacon. No entanto, o staff é simpático, o espaço é limpo, a decoração é alusiva ao ambiente que circunda o hotel, simples mas bonita, com um estilo que se enquadra na natureza e na vista sobre o mar e as suas areias. As roupas são trocadas de três em três dias ou se, enventualmente se justificar. O hotel preconiza a sustentabilidade, a preservação do meio ambiente e dos recursos hídricos. Fomos bem recebidos, a nossa estadia foi agradável. As infusões de ervas e o biscoitinho que o hotel disponibiliza em cortesia aos seus hóspedes foi um momento muito apreciada por nós, no terraço da sala de refeições. No geral foi acolhedora e tranquila a nossa estadia.
