Warm welcome on entry. Table was ready for us. Nice concise menus, friendly service. The food was amazing 2 of us had the Mushroom and Truffle Pie, Amazing the pastry was so well cooked and firm and when cut the pie oozed out full of all types of mushrooms, and the flavour amazing. I asked the owner about the pies and was told they are made on site and she took the trouble to show me the Truffle oil bottle they use. All in all a great visit and would recommend

This is a review for the rooms only, as the food is excellent, although overpriced. Over £20 for pie and chips. They have two rooms. Ours was very dated and smellt of cleaning products. £85 per night. Also our room was very cold even with the extra electric heater. You have to decide your breakfast choice the night before. Check out is very early at 10.30am. Would we stay again or recommend... No. Also on a Friday night the pub is closed at 9pm???

If you want to talk to the staff don’t bother, very in polite no people experience. My husband and I went to the Royal Oak on recommendation from another couple we met in there the day before, the in experienced bar staff were extremely unfriendly, a lot of money for both food and drink over priced for the service.

The room was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The food was amazing. The pies were excellent, lovely pastry. The lemon posset one of the best ever. The service was second to none. I couldn't recommend it too much. It really was excellent.

We met some friends for Sunday lunch. We booked and pre-ordered as we were a large party. John was very helpful in arranging things and the team looked after us really well. Sunday lunches and kids meals were great, including really good veggie wellington. Would recommend for friendly pub roast with friends and family.

We had a one night stay and enjoyed the quaintness of the room - comfortable and matched the one portrayed on the website so no nasty surprises there. The food and drinks in the downstairs pub / restaurant however were overly priced and not very good The breakfast was one of the poorer ones that we had during our month long tour of the U.K Location is good - right in the town

There are only two rooms for overnight accommodation at the Royal Oak, both of which are accessed up an outside short metal staircase from the beer garden. The rooms are rustic rather than modern, which is what we expected. The room had a 7 ft ceiling. The room contained a large bed with comfortable pillows, two bedside tables with lamps, tea/coffee making facilities, fan, electric heater, TV, plenty of power points, iron, hairdryer, wardrobe and a good guest information folder. The ensuite bathroom had an instant electric hot water shower above a low bath. Shampoo, conditioner, body gel and body lotion were all supplied, together with two large bath towels and two hand towels. The internet was good but you had to reset if you closed it down. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful – a choice of cereals, orange juice, toast, tea, coffee and a very filling hot meal of fried egg, bacon, baked beans, tomato, sausage and mushrooms. Our hosts were very friendly and obliging. We enjoyed our stay very much. In regard to parking, there is private parking for 4 to 5 cars at the rear of the building, accessed through Pytt’s Lane via Swan Lane from High Street as Witney Street is one-way towards High Street. From the Royal Oak, it is an easy level walk to the main street. There is also a public carpark nearby.
