Longhouse Lodge Motel

The management is inept at best and they didn't return my phone calls despite repeated messages left for them. I made a reservation in August, but a few days afterwards had to cancel it. I called and they said, oh yes, this was cancelled already, which was puzzling since I had not called previously. Then 2 weeks later, on the day I would have arrived, they called me to ask when I was going to get there. I told them I had cancelled two weeks ago. Regardless, they charged my card 144 dollars and would not refund it even though I had cancelled within the time limits and called twice to straighten it out.

Lovely place with a nice across the road view of Seneca Lake. Convenient to everything in the Glen area! Nice folks! Nostalgic place, some snobs would say dated, but my daughter and I thought it was just fine!

Four couples spent 4 nights at the Longhouse Manor(Bed & Breakfast).p in September lThe accommodations were good. Nice rooms., heated pool, gazebos with a firepit. Cindy was very good. She had our breakfast ready for us every morning, then check with us as to whether or not we needed our rooms made up. Now for the reason I’m giving it a 3 out of 5. The manager, Jim, has VERY POOR customer relations. The reservation was booked for 4rooms, using one credit card. When we got there, the young girl who was checking us in got flustered with the way the reservation was made, and the fact that the 4 couples were each paying their part with their own credit cards. We were trying to help her get things straightened out. But she ran to her manager and said we were yelling at her. We spent an hour trying to get checked in. Next…when we checked out, I made a comment regarding the existence of smoke detectors. We didn’t see one in our bedroom The women there t checkout said we were complaining to her and were yelling. Not them minutes after leaving, I received a call from the manager (Jim) yelling at me for being so rude to his people. Rather than asking our side of the story, he threatened to not allow us to return. Never did get a THANK YOU for discovering the gas leak on the back porch. I’ve sent a couple emails with our Side of the story, and asked for his response. BUT NOTHING. Customer relations…F. Needless to say .. we will NOT BE RETURNING to this place. And I would suggest you think twice before booking. If you do book, think twice before you say anything to any of the staff.

Stayed 3 nights the 2nd half of August 2022. The Longhouse Motel is an older motel in need of new carpets. The musty smell was overpowering. I suspect that for much of the year the room we were in lies empty and unheated, hence the mustiness. The price was too high, but it was a NASCAR weekend. It was clean. No bugs or mice. The air conditioner was old and loud but functional. It had to be kept on at all times to counter the mustiness. Of course it prevented us from hearing any noises that might have prevailed outside the room but it didn't prevent us from sleeping. There was daily housekeeping and linen exchange. The internet was acceptably quick and the TV was good as well. The mattresses were comfortable. The kitchen had a small fridge and a minimum of utensils. Bring plastic spoons, forks & paper plates in case you need them. The gazebo and pool were appealing features except they are located 100 feet from rte 14 - a busy noisy road which made it hard to enjoy the gazebo for long. Again it was a NASCAR weekend and so it may be that the road is normally not so busy. The location is convenient to reach downtown Watkins Glen. The only downside is it's too close to the road. I'd be willing to stay there again but due mainly to the musty smell, I don't regard it as an outstanding motel.

With several bad reviews I read I was a little apprehensive about staying at this motel. Well we are glad we did. It’s a great what I call a Ma and Pa motel. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable with nice sheets. The bathroom had brand new large fluffy towels which were great. It’s an old fashioned charming place. Heated pool and a nice sitting area outside. It was convenient to all that Watkins Glen had to offer without being in a congested area. I would stay here again

Loved this place! Old fashioned, nostalgic, wonderful! Clean, roomy accomadation- convenient to many attractions. Just loved it there! Loved the gazebo, the staff, the whole vibe. The cleaning team, the ladies at the desk, everyone was friendly abd welcoming

We highly recommend the Longhouse. It's very old-fashioned, with not-new furnishings, but clean. We got a bit spooked when reading reviews (after booking) about guests partying loudly and smoking on the rocking chair filled long verandah that runs in front of all the rooms. But no such problems on the night we were there. Families & kids socialized in the evening; everyone quietly off to bed by 10 pm. Our room was very large, including a big wheelchair- accessible bathroom, and a small fridge, microwave, dining table and plushly upholstered reading chairs. Not sure if all rooms have these amenities, so ask in advance, if wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, including with thoughtful recommendations for restaurants in town.

The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and well maintained. The bed was first class. Owner very friendly and helpful. I’d give it 5 stars except that the WiFi was weak and unreliable. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place in beautiful Watkins Glen.

While the desk clerk, Karen, is a true sweetheart and did everything she could possibly do to help us, we encountered mouse infestation. My wife emailed the owner and we gave the guy a chance to contact us and do the right thing, before we posted a poor review. But, instead of handling it in a business-like manner, the guy never contacted us and instead, called my wife a liar. I can assure you that my wife's accounting of the mouse problem is accurate and factual and we have multiple witnesses to support my wife's report. So, if you stay there, I hope you are comfortable with mice in your room.
