I stayed at Wash and Wills Hotel for a week during which time the staff got to know me and would greet me by name. This is a comfortable hotel located in the midst of a series of beautiful gardens. I loved that the pool is right next to the dining/social area so we could watch the kids swim while the adults chatted in the shade. Rooms were clean. Breakfasts were delicious. I didn't eat any other meals at the hotel, but from what I could tell, there's a full bar and a somewhat Americanized menu available. The hotel is in a good location, near downtown Mbale, and within a short drive to the Mbale Museum, Zoo, and other attractions. The price is reasonable. There were several different conference groups that used the hotel while I was there. It seemed like there were plenty of places for them to meet as well as socialize, and their gatherings never imposed on what we were doing. This is a great place to kick back and relax.

The hotel and the rooms were very nice. The bathrooms are very small, and I can understand the reviews regarding the shower by others. Depending on which shower head you use, the toilet and everything else will be we as there is nothing to separate the shower from the rest of the bathroom. The massage and gym area are nice. They have gym classes. If you are getting a massage, you cannot be bashful. Someone walked into the room once. Another time, someone came up to the outside window and started talking. They were both employees, so they should have known better. Dinner was very good. Breakfast needed some work. If you are traveling from outside of Uganda, have cash or carry multiple credit cards. Although they advertise that they take all cards, they actually do not, and we were forced to pay through a method that we did not want to.

Nice Place, big pool and best "Sauna" in Mbale. Food is ok, but not special. Some rooms are nice, with view other are very small with almost no light. So if you get a small room - change it !! Over all: nice !
