Al-Malik is a clean, brand-new hotel situated only few minutes walk from the old town and Chor Minor and close to many restaurants. Rooms are large and spacious - our room had 3 beds (but only 1 bedside lamp). Bathroom is lovely with bath and shower and beautiful patterned tiles. Breakfast was delicious with home-made cottage cheese or egg pancakes, omelettes with dill and tomato, orange juice, fresh fruit and nice coffee. The main drawback is the design of the hotel. There is no lift and no outside area in which to sit and relax. There are very limited exterior windows and all bedrooms open onto the internal courtyard and corridors. I felt like we had to keep the curtains closed when we were in the room, and there wasn't anywhere else in the hotel to go to apart from our room. The ground (1st floor) rooms are probably a bit dungeon-like. However staff were very pleasant and friendly and would get an English-speaking member of staff on the phone if they couldn't understand our requests. Note alcohol is not allowed the hotel but it is close to Chalet restaurant/bar/cafe.
