I stayed at this hotel on Valentine's Day. I went to the onsite restaurant to eat dinner. I was a solo this trip and they refused to serve me any food other than the $150 prix fixe menu for two. I was allowed to order that only. When I contacted management, they stated all tables were reserved. That was incorrect because I was given the option of ordering the $150 priced food at the bar. They easily could have accommodated singles at the bar. I had to go elsewhere for dinner. Then when filling the bathtub with water, there was quite a bit of dirt in the tub from the water. Then I thought, I had dirt in my coffee this morning. Utterly disgusting. I had reservations for more stays here but cancelled them all. I will never be back.

Wonderful visit but be warned. :) First, yes the hotel is in the center of town, yes, the hotel is near the train tracks. Just like any other small town on a railway. If you are a late sleeper, use the provided ear plugs. The first trains, that I heard, came a little before 0600. I was already into my first cup of coffee. The hotel is near the old town city center. Pleasant walking distance for the restaurants and businesses. Easy parking. Decor is upscale, mid century, and in great shape. Hotel cleanliness was topnotch. The staff all seemed to be focused on customer service. Some were a little newer in their roles but clearly aiming to please. Checkin was pleasant and quick. The front desk representative had many great suggestions for our evening. She was clearly management material! The lobby bartender was the perfect host to kick off our group's night out. She also was management material! We plans to use again on our next trip town.

First, the positives: this is a cool old building located in a revived downtown Bryan. Lots of character, and helpful staff. Bed was quite comfortable. The problems started when I returned to the hotel after dinner out and my key card wouldn't work. Took three trips to the front desk and finally the staff person's opening it, with difficulty, with the master key. An early meeting the next morning meant I had to pack up when I left, for uncertainty of being able to get back into the room later (which proved right: I tried when I returned to check out--locked out). Getting ready for bed, I turned on the hot water. Not working--some cold, brownish water came out. Tried the shower. What looked like diarrhea came out of the faucet. I'll attach a picture. Not exaggerating. Not pleasant. The front desk agent offered to switch me to a different room (turned out they knew the hot water in my floor was a problem before putting me up there), but since it was 11:30 pm and I had an early wake-up, I stayed put. Water worked the next morning, and I showered after cleaning out rub--but I felt dirty all day, given the memory of the Brown Menace from the night before. Gross. The manager addressed these issues the next day to my satisfaction and with apologies. I appreciated that, and wish I could report a better overall experience. [It's worth noting here that I very rarely give poor Trip Advisor reviews, out of the 70 I've posted.] Others have had better experiences there, you can see in other reviews. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

I was asked to tip the women who checked me in. Are you serious!!! How about you pay your employees better so they don't need to beg money from me. This is absurd and something I have never seen at any hotel around the world. This property is average at best and obviously very poorly managed.

The LaSalle opened in September 2024 under Marriott's upscale, boutique Tribute Portfolio brand. It looks like the hotel was extensively renovated from floor to ceiling. While the build is old and historic, the interior felt virtually brand new. Other than The Stella, which is a Marriott Autograph Collection branded property, The LaSalle is probably the nicest hotel in Bryan and College Station. I had a last-minute reservation and Kimberly at the front desk was awesome. One of the better front desk clerks that I've ever come across. She handled everything and ensured that my preferences on the reservation and my Bonvoy Ambassador profile were fulfilled. For one night I was in a standard room. The standard room was actually bigger than I expected. The bathroom was also relatively huge with a gorgeous walk-in shower. No desk but there was a comfortable small chair with a small circulator table that could be used for a laptop. There were also a few USB and electrical outlets. In all, the room was well-appointed. The bathroom featured a local brand of toiletries. All the expected toiletries were provided. I liked the local brand. If I had complaints about the room/bathroom: 1) The TV is a little too small. If I had to guess, I'd say the TV was 28 or 30 inches in size. 2) No bottled water or stocked mini-bar is provided, which is an issue since the hotel doesn't have a lobby market or pantry with soda, water, etc. 3) The coffeemaker is the cheap generic hotel coffeemaker with cheap coffee. Given this is supposed to be a 4-star hotel, I would have expected at least branded coffee. 4) While the local branded toiletries are nice, the dispensers look cheap and like something from a gym or locker room. Surely, there's a better way to present the toiletries. 5) The bedding was fine. Fairly typical linen. But at a 4-star boutique hotel I would expect Frette or something a little higher end. As a Marriott elite I received breakfast. The benefit is handled well and I could seemingly order anything off the menu. The coffee was excellent. I really appreciated the restaurant being open at 6:30 am, especially with the bad in-room coffee. The hotel has dedicated spots in a parking lot. You can also park on the street in front of the hotel. Downtown seems safe but there's no obvious signs of security. Now the big thing: the noise. A couple times during the night trains come right through town. There's really no escaping the noise. I didn't hear any trains until about 5:30 or 6 a.m., when it woke me up. The hotel gives small one-time ear plugs, which really don't work well if you're sleeping. They're going to fall out. I know the hotel can't do anything about the railroad. But does the train really have to blast its horn? Surely, that's not necessary with modern technology. At the very minimum, the hotel could have put in better noise insulation when the room was renovated. I suspect most of the complaints center around the train noise. For me,

Beautiful remodel but the train is a problem. I always base my reviews first and foremost on the quality of sleep and 2-4 train whistles throughout the night does not allow for sleep. That’s my main reason for 3 stars. Also, the service is not up to the standards of four stars or above. One girl was on her phone constantly - several interactions with her were distracted, making me feel like a nuisance as a result. Other front desk staff were extremely casual in their appearance and attire. As ambassador elite members, we had breakfast vouchers to use at the restaurant. On Sunday we arrived at 10:45 to be told the kitchen was closed. The sign said 11 (and we were told 11 at check in). When we persisted, it became a big scene involving the cook coming out and saying things like “you’re really making me earn my keep.” She also had a loud conversation with the wait staff about last call being 15 minutes before close. Just not professional and embarrassing for us. Another minor issue, which is a pet peeve, is that the bed was made way too short and too tight to pull the covers past the shoulder. It is a very beautiful hotel - clean rooms and well appointed decor. But I can’t get over the other problems to go back. Downtown Bryan is a bit deserted and pretty far out for us.

Great Experience. Decor is wonderfully creative. Impeachable cleanliness. Quitet neighborhood in restored downtown. Restaurant, both dinner and breakfast was most enjoyable. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

My friend and I celebrated our birthdays & the GM gave us a personal tour of this lovely historical hotel. All the staff were kind & helpful. Our suite was two rooms and had lovely sheets. I slept so well. The restaurant fare and drinks were fantastic. Overall a 5 star stay! We will be making this our birthday gathering spot from here on. Thank y’all!

The young Lady who ran the desk on Friday morning was a breath of fresh air. We had a situation occur and she went above and beyond to fix it. I travel a lot and when someone (such as that young lady) shows up and helps with no expectations but to highlight your Hotel you have a keeper.
