We made a reservation here off the strength of the hotel's Lonely Planet write-up, and wow are we glad that we did. We have a family of four, with two young children, and the three-room apartment was perfect for our needs -- and at a very affordable price. The views from the room were truly spectacular -- you can't get much closer to the lake unless you're swimming in it. Maria (the manager) was so helpful throughout our stay and our girls already miss her. Breakfast was also wonderful. We're also really glad we stayed in the small town of Brunnen versus the more urban environment of Luzern. We definitely hope to be back sometime soon!

We are on day 5 of our six night stay and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We booked a family apartment in the older hotel Schmid and we are very happy with the accommodation. We have two bedrooms (a double & a twin) with plenty of wardrobe space, a living/dining room with balcony, bathroom with bath & shower over and kitchen (which is an additional cost). The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing my coeliac daughter with gluten free cereal and rolls at breakfast. The breakfasts carried a good selection of breads, pastries and cakes, fruit juices, eggs, meats and cheeses, yogurts, fruit, cereals, hot & cold drinks. The hotel has no air conditioning, but we found that our rooms remained quite cool, even though the temperatures were in the 30’s outside and we had fans in the rooms. As there are restaurants around the hotel, it can be quite noisy in the early evenings, but the windows are well sound proofed & cut out nearly all noise once closed. The hotel is well situated for the boat (on the other side of the road) buses & trains (5-10 mins walk), shops and restaurants. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in Brunnen.

The hotel is right on the lake and yet right in the center. It is surrounded by several attractive restaurants. The hotel staff were really friendly and accommodating. Because I called the hotel directly, the receptionist was able to offer me the perfect room. The breakfast buffet is open from 6:30 a.m. on request and is very extensive. I will definitely come back when I have business in the area.

Very good hotel, 10 minutes from Brunnen station. Seen on the magnificent lake. Royal breakfast buffet! Quality and quantity. Well maintained. Own. No restaurant for lunch and dinner, but there is no shortage of restaurants around! For a change of scenery at an affordable price I recommend this hotel!!

The bathroom has its own window and is very bright. Only the bed pushed apart on its own now and then, so that you suddenly found yourself in the "visitor gap". The staff is very friendly and gives good tips on the weather and excursions. -In general, the Swiss are very friendly (how can you be in a bad mood when you're in the countryside). Breakfast is buffet style, we didn't miss anything. The coffee machine makes very good coffee, and there is always someone available to answer any questions. Getting there: The reception is open during the day. You can stop in front of the hotel by car to unload, then you have to rent a parking space about 300m away in the municipal car park for 25 francs per week. This was possible without any problems. There are motorcycle parking spaces directly in front of the hotel. It is also interesting for fans of motorbikes, sports cars and vintage cars, as many of them drive through Brunnen. It was still quiet in the evenings, we even slept with the balcony door open. The WiFi is perfect. We chose the hotel because it is the perfect starting point for hikes and day trips. It is also perfectly located for boating. We can also recommend the cable car ride to Stoos and the ridge hike. Information about excursions is available in the hotel, can be asked for or obtained from the nearby tourist information office. We would like to thank you for a wonderful holiday, which we would be happy to repeat at some point.

We wanted to spend 4 days as a first short break with our 1.5 year old daughter on Lake Lucerne. At breakfast there was another family at the table next to us. Our daughter has been back and forth a few times to the other child. The lady at the buffet said it wasn't a playground here. Furthermore, because of August 1st, there was a free night with a party in front of the hotel. We didn't know this, and since it was warm and we had the room facing the street, we decided to leave one night earlier with our daughter. So that she can sleep at night. The hotel did not accommodate us in terms of price and the lady at the reception said that we had to check out by 11 a.m. the next day. This although we were still paying in full for the day and night had to, a bit cheeky. The hotel is in a beautiful location and is definitely a great choice for couples or cyclists. As a family, I would not visit again, nor would I recommend it.

We were only able to book one night, but it was all the nicer. The location, the clean rooms, the view from the window, the friendly staff and the delicious breakfast. Everything perfect!! The nice lady with Croatian roots was also very funny.. ;-)
