Dukes' Arches Brugge Adults Only
4.3/5101 Reviews
Having stayed several times at the Dukes Palace, Bruges, and this being a sister hotel, I expected a similar standard. It's not. Reception staff cold, unfriendly and frankly, unhelpful. Booked a parking space, but one had not been reserved for me (there's only four parking spaces at the hotel - and one of those was being used by the hotel manager). Was told I would have to leave my car in a public car park. I did not want to do this for security reasons. Having visited Bruges around 20 times, I am fully aware that parking is extremely limited, hence the reason I booked the car park. They had no record of me booking the car park (booked through Hotels.com) and did not have any spaces available (if I had been the hotel manager, I would have offered to move my car for my guest - the fact that this didn't happen tells you everything). I took it upon myself to pop over to its sister hotel, the Dukes Palace, and explained my situation. The staff there were very helpful and said I could park my car in their car park. Why couldn't the receptionist at the Dukes Arches arrange that? Absolute zero customer service. Bar area, whilst very nicely appointed, completely lacked atmosphere, despite being quite busy. Breakfast service was good. Staff within the breakfast room were very helpful and friendly. Courtyard room lacked a courtyard view (please see photo). Bed was very comfy. I was concerned about the low water temperature in the bathroom (I'm familiar with legionella) and reported this to the reception staff. Met with a shrug of the shoulders! Be aware that with the ground floor courtyard rooms, there is a corridor off the car park to access these. The external door does not closely very well and with cars coming and going, the corridor fills with car exhaust fumes. Overall, very disappointed. I will be coming back to Bruges (fabulous place), but will never stay at this hotel again.

When we arrived at the location we interphoned and the door opened automatically. We left the bags at the hotel we went to walk. When we returned at the end of the day there was a packet with the number of the room. The next day we interphoned to make the payment. The hotel is in the centre, I found it a little dust, perhaps because of the dynamics of operation.

We stayed here with Riviera Travel. This budget hotel was as expected, the rooms were cosy and compact yet had everything you need for a three day stay. Breakfast was adequate, a little bit of a squeeze getting all our tour party in the breakfast room. What I liked: proximity to town centre, quiet location despite there being a fairly busy road outside. What I disliked: the towel radiator above the bath meant there was nowhere comfortable to rest your head! Lumpy pillows made for an awkward night's sleep. It served it's purpose but I wouldn't book this hotel as an independent traveller.
Grand Hotel Casselbergh Brugge

This Hotel exceeded all expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. As well as being absolutely beautiful inside, the Hotel had a lovely ambience, the staff were very friendly and helpful and everything - rooms and public areas- was spotlessly clean. We very much enjoyed the bar which was very reasonably priced, and the very friendly bar tender makes the best ‘Old Fashioned’ cocktail my husband has ever had apparently! The Hotel is very well situated - 10 minutes walk maximum from the main market square where most of the bars and restaurants are situated, and even less than that to the plethora of chocolate shops! The hotel offers underground parking for £25 Euros a night.

We visited Bruges for the first time earlier this month and came across this hotel which looked good online so we decided to go for it. We were definitely not disappointed! The service of all of the staff we met was amazing, very friendly and eager to help and have a chat with you (in multiple languages). The bar man in particular had expert level knowledge of local beers, gave some good recommendations of places to go including marking it on the maps and we had a nice chat with him for a good couple of hours while enjoying his drink recommendations at the bar. The room was very clean and a good standard with plenty of room for all of our things. The pool facilities were lovely and clean and very enjoyable to use. The breakfast was tasty and even when busy the staff were quick and friendly. It was also a very accessible hotel as there were ramps over the small stairs and elevator access to the higher floors. To top it off the hotel was also only a 25 minute walk from the train station and less than 5 minutes walk from the main square so an excellent location. We will definitely be telling our friends about this hotel if they want to visit Bruges and will return here ourselves in the future.
