I will not come back again and I will send this to all social media so that everyone can see what happened with you in terms of mistreating the guests. 500 euros were taken from my credit card without my knowledge after I left the hotel for a completely unconvincing reason.

Two old houses combined in a quiet but central street. Lovely garden. Rusty and large rooms. Well done kitchen and local gourmet cuisines,,,service is a bit spotty and disorganized at check in. Parking is terrible. No gym or pool but a garden pond, top rooms can be dusty and warm and light comes in so better not take the rooftop rooms. Unforgettable walks around one of the most gorgeous cities in the world.

We stayed at the Notary for 4 nights mid June 2025. Upon arrival we thoroughly enjoyed the reception we received and the ambience of the hotel. Our room was lovely and cool due to effective Aircondtioning (great because it was a hot day). The room was exactly as described on line, well appointed, very comfortable and quiet. The gardens were superb and we spent several hours relaxing out doors. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

The hotel was beautiful, but there were some major weaknesses that warrant extreme attention for any potential travelers. Here are some examples. We checked in around 3pm and were told our room was ready. We were taken up to our room, only to find it not ready and being used as a storage room for a photo/commercial shoot at the hotel. I don’t understand how the staff member would not know this especially when the hotel is very small. Then instead of apologizing or offering anything, the staff member suggested we walk to the city center. There was no offer to hang out in the hotel garden. We returned at check in time and the room still wasn’t ready. I asked the same staff member if the room would be extra cleaned given what the room had been used for that day. The staff member assured us the room would be. Well, when we got into the room much later, the floor was still dirty, and there was a stained/dirty hand towel. On day three of our stay, we spent time in the garden, but received no service whatsoever. It was as if no one worked at the hotel. The same day, we needed more towels. I asked the same staff member from our check in experience. The staff member directed me to where the towels were located in the hotel and told me to get my own towels. While I don’t mind this, this hotel claims to be luxury. After our experience at this hotel, I wouldn’t suggest staying here if you expect a luxury hotel experience.

We came here for our honeymoon and found this hotel to be so very special. Nothing was too much trouble and managing my husband’s mobility issues wasn’t a problem. The rooms are opulent and jammed full of bits and pieces and the gardens are so beautiful and tranquil. We had the chef’s signature dinner one evening and I can’t fault it. We were even asked where we wanted to eat, in the garden or the dining room. It was very hot so we chose the garden. They helped us with booking taxis and restaurants and a big thank you goes to Else, who was lovely and always had a smile.

The Notary is a luxury sanctuary in Bruges. Perfectly located only a few minutes walk from the central square, it is an oasis of quiet where you can hear the birds in the morning in the large and perfectly manicured garden alongside a canal. The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel is noteworthy. The suites are spacious, beautiful and well appointed. We were at The Notary for a wedding and the hotel ensured everything was perfect not only for the couple but for the international guests from various countries. Perfect marks to The Notary for a perfect stay.

My husband and I stayed here whilst attending a wedding. Our room was beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable, ammenities were 10/10. Food was healthy and delicious and service first class. Cannot fault anything. The garden and grounds were particularly beautiful and well maintained. Close to everything but quiet where we were. Thank you so much for accomodating us, we LOVED our stay.

Kudos to the staff at this excellent , renovated , historic building, hotel. Each staff member I encountered (at reception, at the bar/breakfast cafe, housekeeping) was helpful, knowledgeable , attentive : all with a good sense of humor and patience! The hotel is well kept and in an excellent location for walking, public transportation and restaurants .
