Ocean Mile Hotel

Ocean Mile Hotel

Fort Lauderdale|7.43km from city centre
We booked via VRBO and while we didn't expect a ton from a place that was so affordable so close to the beach we did expect working electricity and clean rooms. We showed up Tuesday 12/29 at 3 pm early to check in but you never know. I get there and am told our room and the one next to us have no electricity currently because the breaker box was broken - unfortunate and not the owner's fault stuff breaks. I was told it should be fixed around 8 pm. He let us in the room so we could change and we left and went to the beach. We came back at 7 and he told us it would be closer to midnight before we would have power back. So we left to get dinner and a few things at the grocery store. We got back still nothing so we decided to go to be around 1030pm. Finally, at 11 pm, we got power back BUT in only half the room so we couldn't charge most of our electronics and my mother who has a CPAP for a medical condition could not use it because it needs to be plugged in. We were told no available rooms. We didn't get power back fully until 2 on Wednesday afternoon. We stayed until Saturday and did not see a single housekeeper come and clean our room that was not clean. The mirror was hazy and so dirty and the bathroom floor was disgusting. We asked 3 times for clean towels and did not get any so we had to wash them with our coins in the coin laundry. The pool was very nice and had a comfortable temperature. The pool area was clean and maintained with lots of seating. There is an ice machine that is nice and always full. Almost everyone is outside smoking in the morning which can cause breathing issues. The location was great though we were able to go to the beach by walking along with many different restaurants close by. The beds were comfortable and when we had electricity the A/C was very nice. We were not given any sort of refund for all of the troubles we had and brought to Oliver (owner's attention). Not sure if I would stay again.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The 1 bed room was large enough for a family of 4. When we got to the room it looked like it had been unused for maybe a weel or 2 because there was a layer of dust on the counters, side tables etc. We complained about that to the manager and they promised to have it cleaned but nobody came. The kitchenette was fine but there were so supplies! No plates, utensils or any cooking equipment. We complained and asked just for 1 pot to heat up baby's milk but they couldn't make that happen. We had to purchase paper and plastic goods but weren't able to really cook a meal as we had hoped. They said it was because of covid. It was a nice clean facility but we really had to call room service for everything--extra towels, coffee refills (they are single serve not sold at stores), and to take the garbage that filled up each day. Bathroom was spacious and several ppl could use it at once. Balcony was nice but had a lot of palm tree debris on it so we had to call to have that swept up too. Pool was also nice but a bit top cold. They don't have it heated. Main lobby was very pretty as well as the grounds. The dust on counters and no kitchen supplies were surprising but overall the stay was good. On the weekdays we seemed like there was nobody else there and we had the resort to ourselves but then on the weekend it filled up a bit. There was a wedding, a gymnastics competition. The food served at the bar was good and we were able to eat that poolside which was very convenient with 2 little ones. Manager said we could order food and drinks at the poolside tiki hut bar but it was never opened when we were there.

Hyatt Centric Las Olas Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale City Center Fort Lauderdale|0.26km from Thrive by Daniel Popper
This is the worst experience I have ever had when booking a hotel on Ctrip.com. Stay one night in Fort Lauderdale and board the cruise the next day. I didn't get a good rest at all that night. I was woken up by a knock on the door at around 1 a.m., and it became quiet after that. I thought someone might be having fun over the weekend and knocked on the wrong door. Half an hour later, I was frightened by the overwhelming knocks on the door. I felt that the hotel was on fire. I jumped up and opened the door while thinking about what to bring with me to escape... When I opened the door, I saw a man and a woman who claimed to be hotel security guards and wanted to check our passports. At about this time, The residents next door and across the door opened their doors and poked their heads in the door. During check-in, our passports have been shown to the counter and copied. Why do we need to check again in the middle of the night? We explained the situation, and the man called the intercom and talked to the hotel for a while, and then said it was okay. I asked what are you doing? He said it was a system problem that had nothing to do with him and left without saying sorry. She was so frightened that she lost all sleep. She went downstairs to the counter to ask what happened. It turned out that someone with the same name also checked in that day. Even so, the middle name was different and the order number was also different. She got the door password on her mobile phone. Fortunately our door was locked and she arrived at night; she could come in when we were out. The hotel was so arrogant and harassed in the middle of the night without even a word of apology. I will never visit this hotel again!
