Absolutely filthy and the owner is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. Thoroughly Disappointed. Not what you expect on such a beautiful island. Property is totally run down and filthy so so sad as such a stunning building with fabulous views

We were not sure at first after reading some reviews but we went ahead and booked for 2 nights to go and see our daughter who works on the island. Right so let get to the elephant in the room this is not 4 or 5 star accommodation but for what we paid for 2 nights to be on the seafront with amazing views of Goat-fell and other parts of the island I honestly cant complain. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with plenty of room and I found the beds to be comfortable. You will not get anywhere for this price with this location, views and easy access to town centre shops, bars and cafes elsewhere on the island. I will certainly book the Shorehouse again next time we visit and if you can put up with down to earth accommodation then I recommend you do to.

The Shorehouse does not look very promising from the outside but it improves inside. The location is ideal - walking distance from the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants and there is off-road parking. Our studio was spacious and had wonderful views. However, the furniture is a bit tired and the kitchen had a hotch potch of utensils, glasses & crockery. The cooker could do with updating too. The bed was comfortable but don't expect quality linen. The shower was not very clean. All in all, this property is good for location and value, but not top quality.

Excellent spot. Yes this is a basic campsite, running toilets and a cold tap. The views are incredible, the site is lovely, there’s a river running down the side. Access into the hills is second to none. The owner Nic is lovely and the toilets are cleaned each morning. There’s an honesty box to pay cash per person per night, which is incredibly priced compared to other campsites around Scotland. The only downside is that you can pitch wherever you’d like, so efficiency is not optimal, it does however mean you can pitch where suits you best

Lack of cleanliness lets this place down badly and the kitchen was poorly equipped. Potato peeler was extremely dirty. Toilet cistern took a long time to refill. Uncomfortable beds and duvets and pillows smelt. This business could do much better. Okay it's handy for the ferry and COOP and there is a beautiful collie dog around. Arran is beautiful.

A lovely campsite with very basic facilities (basic toilets and a hand basin only). Beautiful location. Love the fact that you can pick your own pitch across two large fields by a scenic river. Very reasonably priced - make sure to bring cash for the honesty box. £5 ppn as if July 23.

We spent four nights at this campsite and the location was wonderful. The campsite is large and has various well spread out points for pitching tents. On our first night there were 8 tents including ours, but that varied throughout the week to as many as 30. We paid using the honesty box and there was no question as to whether we had paid or not. The owner came to check in on us and was not only very friendly, but immensely helpful about advice on the local area. There is plenty of room to pitch tents, so if you want the cameraderie of a social camping experience or would rather select a secluded area to pitch your tent in the options are yours, Local walks from the campsite are amongst the best on the island. It was brilliant to be able to get up early and walk to the blue pools before the rest of the tourists arrived. There are established campfire points all around the site. The site advertises as "Campfires welcome" and many folk made use of this. It was nice to not have to forage for rocks to surround a fire as it was already well prepped. As per the advertising the only facilities are toilets. They are well maintained and more than adequate. I found the other campsite users very friendly, and in the case of a first aid incident involving my child, the support from other campers was amazing. Frankly as a social or a private destination, if you want a good wild camping (with toilets) experience, this place is awesome. Yes the midges were hungry, but as a highlender I expected this. Would highly recommend! Arran is a beautiful island and if you wish to be close to nature, Glen Rosa is an amazing place to start. Easy walking, cycling or driving distance from the ferry or town and yet remote enough that you can vanish into the glen / hills inside half an hour. This will not be my last visit to Arran and I would definately pitch a tent at Glen Rosa Campsite again.

Location is lovely, however...whoever owns the site takes no interest. Impossible to contact by phone, email or text. Supposedly, no vehicles on site, yet there were several, which help turn the steep entrance slope into a mud-slide. The site is studded with fire pits burnt into the grass, which make it very ugly and who wants one of those outside their front door? Clouds of blue bbq and fire smoke frequently drift across site, passing through any tent in the way. Radios regularly made our vicinity sound like a building site. Worse still, we had two groups of teenagers as neighbours (M and F) who giggled, talked and swore severely and loudly till 1 a.m., which made everyone tired and irritated the next day. And if my children had been any younger, it could easily have got ugly. The basic facilities, the horrendous midges and with there being only two M/F toilets each for a site this size, we can work. It could be a terrific site, but being walkable from the ferry and the cheapest on the island, it clearly attracts the worst in every respect. Never again.
