More details and family-friendly reviews on my blog 'The Frenchie Mummy' and on Instagram @thefrenchiemummy. So Google it and have a look there too. Merci! What a beautiful place! We saw it from outside with the impressive building and once we were in, I fell in love with the decor, very chic! The food was very good and both waitresses who served us were very friendly, happy to talk about the local area and things to do etc. We did not stay at the hotel but the spa looked good too.

To be clear this is in relation to the restaurant of the hotel not the hotel itself as we only popped in for cocktails and dinner. G&T was superb (but then again it should be) but the Champagne cocktail tastes odd until we noticed that the bottom of the glass was laced with undissolved sugar. When I went to the bar to mention this, I was told it was a sugar syrup (clearly wasn’t or it would be dissolved) and was handed the tab for the drinks to settle. Food however was another story, the Nibbles of Smoked Mackerel Choux buns and Pork Belly bites were outstanding, followed by their Scallops and Cheese Croquettes for starters. Also exceptional. The main course let it down a bit, with the Stonebass Special being a bit sad (dry dauphinois and sadly very little of the crab velouté which was a catalyst for ordering) however the veg were really taken care of. Other half had the ribeye which was beautifully cooked. Dining room feels a bit confused with mismatching lamps, tired paint and very dark considering it’s the middle of summer, but taste is personal. Restaurant staff were delightful (Kate in particular) but was not a fan of the burly barman with the tattoos on his arms who was in trousers two sizes too small for him, that somehow managed to make a sugar syrup where the sugar doesn’t dissolve.

How do you respond to abuse from a manager when all you did was point out his staff were inattentive using Tripadvisor. Apparently I am known to Chris and now banned even though I do not believe we have ever met or talked. The Hotel has now to be given a low rating because if the manager is prepared to talk to patrons in that fashion what on earth goes on elsewhere on the premises. Please check out the replies to other negative feedback - quite extraordinary.

A very good first visit made possible by 3 excellent staff members Maria (Reception) Tracey (Resturant) Samantha Thompson (Duty Manager). These 3 ladies are an absolute credit to the hotel very professional. Beautiful views from our balcony over the forest.

The service used to be excellent but sadly this has changed dramatically in the last few months. They appear to dislike their work and the girls at the front enjoy chatting to one another rather than being attentive to customers. The food however is still nice and the setting lovely.

Stayed here in a superior room 2 nd floor with our 2 dogs on Sun 26 to 29th May ,nice room apart from the fan noise from the pool, this has been resolved by on our return in September 17th to a better superior room quieter. The staff at the hotel were welcoming on our arrival, and also throughout our stay . The breakfast was buffet very good quality,we had dinner 1 night this was amazing . Drinks as in wine were very expensive, but seems to be the norm these days . The hotel is in a prime location for lots of dogy walks and Brockenhurst shops . We used the outdoor pool ,this was warm really nice. The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere, staff were chatty, and went the extra mile ,I had forgot my phone charger , reception lent me a charger . Thank you everyone for asking our stay so nice see you again this September. Review was by Honest Kelv Cindy dogys Nana Pepe

We came for afternoon tea on Monday afternoon, my friend and myself hadn't been to this hotel before and we were so impressed, the setting is just gorgeous and the hotel is beautifully decorated. The manager Michael came over to greet us and asked if we needed anything, we told him about an allergy and he arranged for separate items for my friend. The food was delicious with plenty of mini desserts, scones and sandwiches. The staff were really attentive topping the teapot up several times and offering a top up of sandwiches too. Michael popped over again later to check we had everything we wanted, we chatted about some events coming up in the future that we will be looking at coming along to. We spent the rest of the afternoon sat outside with a few glasses of Prosecco enjoying the surroundings, it was a perfect treat. We will definitely be coming back.

Great hotel. Found the staff very helpful - for example at dinner the manager gave me a link to an app for walking in new forest. Room was large and very clean. Breakfast is included and was amazing. Also had dinner there with 3 friends. Reasonably priced and excellent. Would highly recommend it and I will stay there again.

My family and I had the most wonderful stay . We were a party of 16 ranging in age from 9 months to 86 with two dogs. The staff were amazing and made us feel really welcome and relaxed. They could not have been more helpful, always kind, and we had excellent service. We all had dinner together in the Beresford restaurant and the food was delicious and again the service was excellent. We have been coming as a family for many years . Everyone had a wonderful time . Maria handled our large and complex booking with such skill and made sure everything was perfect for the whole family both when we arrived and throughout our stay. Many happy family memories were made . It really is a very special place indeed.
