Lovely Hotel, definitely stay again but not in the room given to me , I had emailed and called in advance for a lower floor as I have 2 miniature dachshunds, I was very surprised to be at the very top of 6 flights of stairs no lift ! Court yard room next time .

This hotel has a history of more than 500 years, with a strong British country style. The receptionist was very enthusiastic, helped with parking, and introduced the hotel facilities. It is the most beautiful hotel on Broadway.

When you imagine what a quintessential historic inn in the Cotswolds might be like, look no further! We thought the Lygon Arms was just magical. The main level has areas that date back to the 1300s and is just a rabbit warren of little rooms with lovely seating areas and fireplaces galore. The dining room is especially beautiful and there are also beautiful gardens out back. We loved staying in Broadway and felt that it was centrally located and had a great selection of shopping and places to eat. We stayed in the main building because we wanted a more historic experience, and the room reflected that. If you want something more updated, I might suggest staying in the annex in back, it looked quite lovely.

This hotel is the perfect start or end of a Cotswolds trip. Located in the small village of Broadway - another gem - it has origins into an old inn. The rooms are chic and well appointed ( however a Nespresso machine would make a difference) together with spacious bathrooms with great showers. The bar and the restaurants are cost and offer exquisite meals and drinks. The spa is great and not crowded. Amazing staff from all over Europe makes a very good impression!

Arrived at the hotel, guy out the front on meet and greet was exceptional, we immediately thought this is the place! We were showed to our room, very small and could have done with a re-paint for the price point. We were asked if it was a special occasion, we’d said on the booking it was a special anniversary (10 years) yet kept getting asked, don’t understand why as nothing was different. Before dinner and at breakfast members of staff kept asking if we were staying in the hotel…felt a little awkward, then a manager jumped in and said yes they are…don’t think we looked any different to the average customer there! Raw fish at dinner, sent back and the waitress asked if we’d like to let the chef know, we suggested she should, no offer of a replacement only a complimentary dessert - we don’t eat desserts. Breakfast however was delicious and the service was good other than being asked again are you staying here! or shouted at shall I say. Really sad as this could have been so special.

We visited recently and arrived 5 minutes early. Asked to wait as tables were being laid up. 20 minutes later I asked if I could sit outside at our table - only one table outside was laid up. Our glass of Procesco was brought out and the cake / sandwich platter was delivered with lovely looking selection of tiny morsels. No 2 were the same and too tiny to share. Which was a shame. Some unusual flavours - not to our liking. Scones - 2 with fruit 2 without sadly the without weren’t on the platter so the waiter took them back to swap. But they didn’t have any ! Chef can’t make any more. We were the only guests outside eating afternoon tea and a couple of tables inside. Not rushed off their feet. Tea arrived - we weren’t asked to choose which tea which is customary in most establishments. Just English breakfast ( builders) then the delivery chaps arrived with a huge box on wheels which took forever to wheel through the courtyard and get the lads to offload it then squeak all the at back through again. Not tranquil peace & quiet.

We held our small wedding at The Lygon Arms in June staying overnight from Friday to Sunday. From the beginning of planning to the event itself we couldn’t have been better looked after. Events Coordinator, Melissa, went above and beyond at every stage to make sure everything was in place for our special day. She thought of every detail, including things we hadn’t thought of ourselves, and liaised with the florist, photographer, registrar etc. to ensure everything ran smoothly. The day itself was perfect! Melissa, Caleb and every member of staff at The Lygon, went out of their way to ensure that everyone was looked after, not only my husband and I as bride and groom but every member of the wedding party, from the children to elderly and infirm relatives. I can’t adequately put into words what a difference this made and how grateful we are for their care and attention. Thank you, Melissa and colleagues for making our wedding more special than we could have imagined. We will treasure our memories and no doubt return to The Lygon many, many times in years to come. Our stay at the Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway was the most beautiful, peaceful and wonderful highlight of our two weeks in England. The hotel staff and grounds were all amazing. Lots of cozy nooks and crannies inside to enjoy a coffee with a book in the morning and drinks and snacks in the afternoon. We ate both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and both were perfect. However, the most spectacular parts of the hotel were the grounds. The plaza/patio behind the bar area had a gorgeous and perfectly kept collection of plants, trees and gorgeous flowers. Beyond that, behind the Inn, we found the most amazing and beautiful gardens. It was a series of gardens, each slightly unique, leading to a final fourth labyrinth garden with chairs and benches. My first morning walking through the garden, my wife and I stumbled upon Bill, the head and master gardener. We asked him about the grounds, and we ended up chatting every morning about the gardens, the beautiful town and area, and our plans for the rest of our trip in England. Honestly, when I think back on out trip to England years from now, Bill and the Lygon Arms Hotel will be the highlight I talk about the most. (Seriously, find the gardens, find Bill, and say hello. You’ll be glad you did).
