The Norfolk Mead Hotel

3rd time we’ve stayed here and still a wonderful experience. Beautiful accommodation set in beautiful grounds close to the broads. Wake up to a delightful breakfast menu accompanied with pastries and a selection of yummy treats. If you like a little sport then would recommend paddle boarding or kayaking along the river if lucky enough to find a sunny day or head out to the broads. Norfolk town is a lovely town to visit. Return in the evening to enjoy a dining experience. Friendly staff with a great attention to detail.

We booked The Norfolk Mead Hotel for a family birthday. We were given a private room that overlooked the lake and grounds. The hotel itself is beautifully kept and has plenty of 'olde worlde' charm. The grounds were immaculate, lots of trees, swathes of grass and a short walk takes you to the river where ducks swim idly. The staff could not have been more helpful, the epitome of professionalism, every one of them. Immaculate service, so courteous and always ready with a smile. The food was way beyond anything we had expected, sumptuous roast dinners and luscious desserts all to the highest standard of quality and presentation. This is the perfect place for any event.

Lovely Hotel, excellent Food and wonderful Staff. We stayed here on 15th May 2024. We had a lovely relaxing massage session, Staff were very friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable, afterwards we relaxed in the beautifully decorated Bar. Later in the Day we enjoyed some fabulous food in their beautiful Restaurant again the Staff looked after us very well. Our room was lovely and the Bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately it was raining hard so we didn't get to explore the Grounds, but they looked very nice. I highly recommend this place.

Me and my partner attended for a wedding and booked a nights stay too. We can't recommend this venue enough for both a wedding and a nice night away stay. The day ran seamlessly as a guest, I have allergies and they were efficiently taken care of with no issues at all (during the main meal and during the evening canapes offering me a full allergen free plate). The hotel bedrooms were very spacious, the bed extra comfy and the facilities overall 10/10. We joined the wedding party for breakfast in the morning, which was included in the room stay and the staff & food were brilliant. Really recommend staying here and even hosting an event. We will likely return sometime in the future once the spa has opened for a night away.

Everything was perfect for a really enjoyable, relaxing break. The staff were friendly and efficient, food was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and well looked after. Thank you, we are looking forward to returning.

This is a gem of a place just outside the Norwich city centre in a very quaint locality by the river. Perfect for a cosy break. The moment we checked-in we felt very well looked after. The cottage was nicely done and stocked with lovely board games as well to allow us have a great family time. The food was immaculate the deserts being the highlight. Please do not miss the boat ride on that eloquent machine which the hotel provides on hire. The landlady was patient enough to teach us how to navigate through the broads and explain all the water rules. This is a hotel has been established by a lovely couple and is being thoroughly nurtured by them with a help of a small but very efficient and lovely team. Overall a fantastic stay and we would love to come back again.

We have just celebrated the wedding of our daughter at the Norfolk Mead and everything was perfect from beginning to end. Danni and Frankie kept the day running smoothly and were with us every step of the way. Nothing was too much trouble. The bridal party and several family members stayed the night before and the rooms were delightful. A special mention to housekeeping for accommodating every request we may have had and they were always so chatty and helpful. Every guest has commented on the beautiful setting for the wedding and the amazing food especially those with special dietary requirements. I’m just gutted I was too busy dancing and missed all the evening food!

We have had a lovely stay with our two kids (3 and 5 years old) at the Norfolk Mead. The Chestnut Cottage with small garden was perfect, as we had sunny weather and were able to sit outside in the afternoons. Rented the boat for a morning, which was lovely. We have gone for one night dinner in the restaurant, with amazing food. The other night, have walked over to a nearby restaurant (The Recruiting Sargeant). The staff has been lovely to all of us! Would definitely come back here.

This review relates only to the ambience of the hotel and the dining experience. We were invited by friends to lunch with them at the hotel. The setting is lovely and the ambience of the hotel is nice. The advertised offer of a 15% discount in the bill was not shown originally to our friends when they originally went in early April but when raised, the waiter rectified the bill. This happened again when we went on the 26th and yet again with our friends on the 30th. I find it hard to excuse this behaviour on 3 occasions. On the two occasions that we went there the meals were disappointing. The fish cakes were bland and not much fish. Fennel is nice but should be properly cooked and not virtually raw. My desert with a fancy Italian name comprised one scoop of ice cream with a small biscuit atop and a squirt from a bottle of sweet sauce. In terms of integrity I found the hotel practice of charging a 10% gratuity charge on the bill after you have received it to be questionable. It is stated to be optional but they automatically include it without bringing it to your attention first. I feel that changes in this procedure are called for.
