Harbour Hotel Brighton

I have wanted to try this hotel for a long time, my partner surprised me with this hotel along with a pregnancy spa package , followed by dinner at the hotel’s restaurant for my 30th and to celebrate his return from the Army , We had arrived Saturday the 23rd July 2022 at around 11ish to check in for our sea view suite. When we arrived the girl on reception couldn’t find our booking , she eventually did and stated we were a day late. My partner had rang prior to this to book as had a nightmare when trying to book online along with the spa package so the hotel staff booked this not him. The girl then stated due to events happening that weekend in Brighton they had no rooms available, my partner then went to speak to the staff at the spa and cancelled due to me becoming very upset and no longer wanted to be there if we didn’t have a room to stay. We asked to speak to the manager and we’re shocked at the unprofessional girl who we had to deal with , no apology no compassion just rudeness. Me being 7 months pregnant wasn’t even offered a seat or for out bags to be taken whilst they tried to deal with the refund we had asked for at this point, she then went to speak to her manager and after us standing around for 45 minutes said a room had become available , so we then rebooked into the spa. The room was a sea glimpse room overlooking west streets nightclub, no bath tub nothing like the suite we had booked. My partner then went back to reception and said we appreciate the room but obviously pricing would be different from a cosy room to a suite. We were issued no apology no compensation absolutely nothing just a foul attitude and told it was our fault and they wouldn’t do anything else to accommodate. WOULD NEVER STAY IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN , front of house team need to learn customer service skills. The Bar manager had spoke to us throughout the day and he said it’s obviously not down to him but as we had such an awful time he would compensate us £50 for drinks , this was them moved to the restaurant as being pregnant the drinks were a lovely gesture but I can’t drink. The meal was fantastic I couldn’t recommend enough, The ladies in the spa were also the loveliest and were so accommodating and made my pamper so lovely, they also had online conversations that were forwarded to front of house stating we were booked for the Saturday overnight stay… I understand mistakes can be made but the way we were treated when spending that much money was a disgrace and very off putting. Such a shame because the potential is there it’s the front of house team that let down the visit and experience. 😔
The Old Ship Hotel

Unusually I stayed twice in a month. The first visit being my daughters wedding and the second to attend a concert at the Brighton Centre. Both very nice stays. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating the rooms are well equipped and very clear although a bit tired and would benefit from a bit of a makeover but this is a very old hotel. The beds were very comfy . There is a lot of noise from the outside which did go on till the early hours but this is Brighton and a sea front hotel so I wasn’t worried by this. You pay a price which is well worth it because of the location. The singers in the bar were very good and the breakfast was amazing I’d recommend this hotel. Normally I stay with family in the area but if I ever need to stay in Brighton I would have no hesitation in studying here again
Staybridge Suites Brighton, an IHG hotel

The hotel location is amazing - just 2 minutes from the station (if that) and a 10 minute stroll to the beach. The Hotel was exceptionally clean with brilliant welcoming staff. As other have mentioned, the only negative is that the breakfast choices were very limited. Small single portion omelettes, tinned tomatoes and sausages, as well as cereals etc. However - don't let this distract you. Loved the additional facilities of the hotel (washing machines, the Den) etc. The room was silent - no noise from anywhere. Good powerful but quiet air con.
Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront - Formerly Jurys Inn

I almost walked out of Jury's Inn when I arrived in Brighton; I was already irritated by their 16:00 check-in time, and the place felt grubby and tired when I walked in. However, it redeemed itself quite quickly when I dealt with the staff. The ladies on the reception desk were incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient, and Ken at the bag storage made my day with his calm and affable personality. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and even though I was close to the lifts, there was little noise. I never ate at the dining room so cannot comment, but I did have a drink at the bar area, which I found to be a little sterile. It was a busy weekend with many people and families in and out, but the hotel managed exceptionally well. Even when one of the lifts was out, I didn't feel that the staff dropped their pace or professionalism. The hotel is in a great location as a springboard for Brighton. My ”Jury” is still out regarding value for money, but I have no hesitation in appreciating the staff.
DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole

Stayed here for a conference and wasn’t overly impressed. I appreciate they are going through a refit but there was an unacceptable amount of disruption. Long wait at reception to check in. Long queue and only 2 receptionists. Workmen noise during breakout sessions of the conference meant it was difficult to hear speakers. Main lifts out of action and signposting from small lifts to rooms was very poor and I struggled to find my room. Room smelled strongly of paint and had to open window as air con unit didn’t appear to be wired in. Came back after being at dinner to find my towels had been replaced (surprised but thank you) but my facecloth had been removed (it was my own one) and I had nothing to wash my face with. But probably worst of all was being woken by workmen shouting right outside my window at 6.45am. Not what I wanted after a late night. I’m just glad I wasn’t paying for it!
Q Square by Supercity Aparthotels
4.5/558 Reviews
My wife and I recently spent a few nights in Brighton to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, as we aren't comfortable travelling abroad at the moment for obvious reasons. We chose to stay at Q Square as it felt safer than staying at a traditional hotel, and for the most part we're very glad we did. There are lots of things we enjoyed about our visit. The staff were fantastic, the room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, and the location is hard to beat. We always seemed to be within a 10 minute walk of the hotel which was incredibly convenient, and there are countless restaurants with outdoor dining within a few minutes stroll. We were very happy not to have housekeeping coming into our room each day, and as we chose a sea view one bedroom suite with a balcony we had plenty of fresh air circulating. We felt very safe here, and if that is your primary concern at the moment then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you stay here. There were some notable drawbacks though. The room was very warm, and on our first couple of nights we struggled to sleep despite having the windows and balcony door open. We had ceiling fans in both the living area and bedroom, but peculiarly the one in the bedroom was not above the bed - instead it was off to the side, which didn't really help keep us cool as we tried to sleep. The downside to having to keep all the windows open in an attempt to keep cool was that we were disturbed early each morning by loud trucks coming to collect rubbish on the street outside the building, and then again by builders working with power tools on the building next door. Not ideal for a relaxing break. The biggest flaw however was the bathroom light - it's motion activated and incredibly bright, and we both discovered that using the bathroom in the middle of the night left us instantly wide awake and struggling to get back to sleep. There was no way to either switch it off or dim the light, which was incredibly frustrating. This is really something that they should consider fixing. Finally - we drove to the hotel and the only route that we could find took us into a bus and taxi lane to reach the turning for the hotel, so we're now waiting and hoping we don't receive a ticket. There's no parking on site - although they are happy for you to stop outside for the purposes of loading and unloading - and instead they offer discounted rates (£12 per day) at a fairly grim car park a few streets away. If you're visiting after the pandemic has passed I'd strongly recommend taking the train if possible. Overall though, for this particular moment in time we were quite happy with our stay, and it was lovely to have a break and feel comfortable. If your primary concern is finding somewhere clean where you will feel safe, I'm not sure you'll find any better options.
