This lodge is a gem of a place. It’s situated in a very peaceful and serene village, making it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and cosy, offering all the amenities you’d expect and more. While subjective, I found the bed to be one of the most comfortable I’ve had in recent memory. When it comes to breakfast, the spread on offer is fantastic: cereals, toast, pastries, chocolates, fruits and a selection of cooked offerings. The wonderful owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and looked after; they couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. After living out of business hotels for the past two years, Bartles Lodge was a welcome breath of fresh air. If I find myself needing lodging in the area again, I’ll be looking to book here.

I booked Bartles Lodge as a birthday fishing treat for my Partner. We stayed in the Special Room 4 which was very nice and spotlessly clean throughout. The main room was very nice and spacious, it had an extra large bed with nice quality white bed linen covered with the most gorgeous hand made in India elephant bed cover. There was a very generous hostess tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. Paul & Sue are the most wonderful hosts, they are so friendly and go out of their way to please their guests. Even the ones like myself who has a dislike to some ingredients used in cooking, like garlic. On the day we arrived Sue cooked us a really delicious stir fry with rice for our evening meal, minus the garlic of course!! An excellent breakfast was served in the light and airy dining room. A great choice from the serve yourself buffet, followed by a very tasty cooked breakfast of your choosing, including steak. A really nice touch for guests was anything left on the buffet you could take for snacks later if you so wished. There is a lovely large comfortable guest lounge adjacent to the dining room which has an honesty bar with a good choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Apart from the superb B & B, there are the wonderful well stocked fishing lakes. The middle carp lake is where we love to fish, we both usually catch plenty of good sized carp, which we both have to say are in excellent condition, which is nice to see. Elsing is a small Norfolk village, which has a lovely old church, and has some very nice public houses which serve good food in close proximity to Bartles Lodge. So, If you are looking for a great place to stay with the best hosts ever. Look no further, you found it Bartles Lodge, Paradise in Norfolk.

Stayed at Bartles Lodge for two nights 5/6th May 23, did two days fishing. My son and me had 176 lb of carp between us, he had 74lb and I had 102lb a great time on the middle lake. The rooms are very clean, the bed is very comfortable, everything you need is in the room and if it isn't just ask Sue & Paul and they will sort it, we were made very welcome on arrival. The breakfast is all you could ask for plenty of everything with lots of choices, you will not starve. We had a great time and booked again for September this year.
