I would highly recommend Carrick’s at Castle Farm. You are made to feel so welcome by Jean & the Team. They pride themselves on great attention to detail. The breakfast is cooked to order and is very delicious. The bedroom we stayed in (Dressing Room) was very comfortable and has lovely views of both the farm and the gardens. A very peaceful, relaxing and tranquil place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again soon.

Absolutely stunning location, with beautiful guest rooms. The bed was comfortable, the shower was blissful and the towels soft. No noise apart from birdsong. Delicious, fresh cooked breakfasts with plenty of choice. I was lucky enough to be the only guest on the dates of my visit and the standards were incredibly high. Being able to sit by the river and watch the world go by in such tranquil settings is priceless. A little piece of heaven in the countryside and I can't wait to visit again.

What a georgous place to stay. We had a wonderful 3 nights here. The room was spacious, clean and very quaint. It was so nice to look out the window at a beautiful river and see cows happily munching away on hay. The breakfast was so lovely a huge thanks to the team.

Our stay at Castle Farm was wonderful. After a long drive it was so nice to be welcomed so warmly by Jean and shown to our room 'The Huntsman', which is part of the converted stable block. More of a suite than a room, with a large very comfy bed, spacious sitting area, kitchen and all mod cons bathroom. Despite being close to the cow shed, we had a very peaceful and undisturbed night and the room was very cosy and warm. Breakfast was a feast, with many ingredients produced on the farm and throughout our stay Jean could not have been more accommodating. We brought our dog, which necessitated her to re-allocate our rooms, so that we could be in one of the ground floor dog-friendly rooms. A late check-out was no issue and we returned after our daytime engagement to change for the journey home. Our only regret was that it was too short and we didn't have time to make the most of our time at Castle Farm.

Absolutely stunning Victorian farm retreat with outstanding hosts who leave you alone if that’s what you want or invite you to join in if you want company. Scenery is breathtaking by the river and just sitting with a bottle of wine takes you away from all the stress of life. Farm dogs are a bonus!!!! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. 10/10

We travelled from County Durham for a family wedding and stayed in the huntsman. Absolutely amazing place, bed was MASSIVE! The log burner made it so cosy on a night and being on a working farm made it that bit more special! Breakfast was delicious and everyone was so friendly…especially the dogs who also loved a game of fetch! We will 100% be staying again and bringing our little boy who will be in his element with the animals! Thank you for the amazing accommodation :-)

This is a first rate establishment. Off the beaten track, so only the sounds of birds and the cattle. Relaxing! The house is large, and well furnished with period pieces....but the facilities are fully up to date.....loved the large bath, and pity I did not bring my mask and snorkel for an even fuller experience! We had a large comfortable room, large beds and snowy linen. Breakfast at whatever time we requested. We like a good start to the day, and the breakfast certainly did that.....fresh fruit, yoghurts etc. plus a good cooked breakfast with some choices apart from the full English....it is not always easy to get scrambled eggs just right, but ours were, and the salmon was excellent. We also enjoyed the traditional breakfast one day. The host, Jean, also makes her own marmalade, and it was good...we also make our own, so we reckon we know a good one when we taste it. Jean was a first rate host, with lots of helpful local knowledge which was so useful. A first rate experience!
