South Sands Hotel

Stayed here with my wife and a dear friend for two nights this week. The start of our stay was a little dubious when our friend opened her allocated room door to find the room only had a bath, no shower what so ever! This, unfortunately, wasn't any good for various personal reasons. The staff were very good when our friend explained the problem, and found our friend a room with a walk-in shower. This was the only problem we encountered during our stay. Everything else was very positive. From the very comfortable rooms to the delicious cook to order breakfast with a huge choice of different dishes to choose from. We stayed one night for dinner, which was lovely. We used the bar and had a drink outside on the front veranda, which was lovely. During our stay all the staff were lovely and very helpful. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Hotel was lovely for the price bedrooms nice but bar shut early if not enough people had to get taxi into Weston but it was lovely and relaxing hotel beautiful breakfast lovely staff only 1 problem was the manager of the cafe inside never smiles or speak to you shame + that was the only problem so please smile and speak to your guest it makes a difference

Having looked at the reviews we had high hopes for this hotel these were dashed within 5 minutes of arriving. Having been told we were not staying in the main hotel but would be in the annex which was in fact an old house adjoining the property seems they bought the dorma house next door and turned it into bedrooms. It felt like walking into a doctors surgery, very small room you could literally go to the toilet and watch TV at the same time.... We were told by staff no other rooms available and we could have our money back.. Really !! 2 and a half hours from home on a bank holiday so forced to stay there. Staff tried to fob us off suggesting the access rooms on the ground floor were popular but we were on the first floor so this did not add up. If you are booking here make sure you ask for a room in the main building, and if you book through a third party booking site rather than direct you will be treated as a second class guest, we did not get the room we booked and staff did not want to know. There were still people checking in after us and they were given rooms in the main building. To this end we found the local pub and made ourself at home in there. Plus side well it is a good location right on the seafront and the breakfast is really good.

Stayed here for a second time and not disappointed. Staff very friendly and attentive. Very clean and tidy in all parts of the hotel, great choice of breakfast food and drinks, along with bar drinks, snacks and evening meal. Free on site parking. hotel.

Staff very attentive and friendly. Rooms of a good standard. There was a power cut whilst we were there and staff worked tirelessly to look after everyone and make sure everyone was aware of what’s was happening. The beds were very comfortable, and the view is outstanding from the room. A mini bar and a few snacks if you want them (not unreasonably priced) Breakfast was great, a choice of cooked breakfasts and continental/cereals/toast etc Staff again at breakfast looked after everyone and things ran properly

2nd time stay at this hotel and 2nd time we have been given a room outside the main hotel, in a glorified shed... It had a separate WC, but without any wash basin?? The mattress was old and squeaky. Woken early by other residents using their shower, making all the pipes knock. Wash basin in the 'shower' room draining very slowly.. The saving grace was the breakfast, which was lovely!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at South Sands Hotel. We were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and offered a complimentary drink on arrival. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a modern, nautical theme throughout. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals were all delicious and served by friendly staff. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a lovely, hot shower. The hotel is in a fantastic position, literally just opposite the long beach of Sand Bay. There is a woodland walk that takes you into Weston-Super-Mare in about 45 minutes or, if you prefer, a regular bus service runs from just down the road. We really can not say anything bad about this hotel and would love to return again.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Perfect view from our room and everything was great in the room. The food (evening meal and breakfast) was great. Only stayed for one night, but there was nothing at all we were unhappy with. Highly recommend. We will be back!

We had a meal on Saturday night was very over priced. For £14.95 for a portion of seafood lasagne and a watercress salad. I feel is very over priced. The lasagne very lacking in its sea food. It appeared to be just sheets of lasagne and tomato paste. I had chicken supreme with 3/4 stems of broccoli and a very small portion of dauphinoise potato - not worth the £14.95. The puddings were small portions too and were £7. each bit of a rip off if you ask me. On the positive the staff were amazing and very friendly.
