Overall the pub is generally tired with worn carpets and not the cleanest, bed was the worst mattress I have ever slept on! Plus points breakfast was really good and the staff all very friendly, however were not able to give a VAT receipt for the room or breakfast! Staff smoking and talking in the court yard was also not ideal as it was a hot night so windows needed to be open.

Do they actually HAVE a qualified chef working there??? Or, maybe it was their day off? I had the unfortunate experience of eating at the Barge ( I say eating very lightly) last evening.... We were staying locally, were very tired and it was the closest place....BIG mistake!...BIG mistake! THEEE most disgusting burger I have ever had the misfortune of eating..( I say that lightly too as I had one mouthful and gave up .. Honestly I did) Staff bordering rude... restaurant nearly empty but given the table by the kitchen door... I can go on, but I simply cannot be bothered....just go somewhere else.

Absolutely fantastic place . We stayed Valentines weekend and it was just perfect . The room is modern and very clean . Well equipped . We had a meal in the restaurant that was delicious. We can’t wait to visit again in the summer . The staff are lovely . The surrounding area is beautiful.

I have never in my life encountered such poor customer service. We are a group of 4 friends who booked this place for one night and dinner. One of the group has Parkinson's and so the priority in booking was to ensure ease of access and comfort for her. Extensive discussions were held on the telephone and were assured that all would be appropriate for her needs. On arrival we were greeted with a non-smiling "can I help you?" My friend said, "Yes, we're here to stay tonight"...""Well, you can't check in til 3" It went downhill from there. Far from offering 'ease of access', there was a flight of 8 steep narrow stairs, a turn, and a further 4 for my friend to negotiate. It was entirely unsuitable and mis-sold. We were compelled to book elsewhere that afternoon. Since then (four months ago) we have failed to get blood out of that stone. Utterly lacking compassion and care.

We made a booking for 6 of us just before Christmas. The food was ok, but the place was extremely cold. I entered my registration number as requested and even took a screenshot before I pressed confirm. I then got a parking ticket. I have appealed but they said I couldn’t have pressed confirm , I also gave them the name of booking and the date and time, but to no avail so I therefore I had to pay. Surely this could have been checked and confirmed with the pub. Needless to say I won’t be going there again.

Slipped in for a glass of pinot last night. To be frank the young girl that served me had an attitude that was not conducive With this lovely and charming architectural establishment. No hot water in the gents and the tap pressure felt like it was hitting a million bar! The young lady seemed more intent on flirting with the gentleman at the end of the bar. Not sure if they were a couple but the pub was quiet so there was absolutely no need for that reception. Little unprofessional indeed

CAR PARK SCAM AND RUDE STAFF. Beware! I was charged a £100 Parking fine. I visited for Sunday lunch here last month, as a paying customer, and afterwards I received a £100 parking fine. The Barge Inn staff will not lift this fine for you, and even though it is their land, and they are in charge of the parking services and they dictate the terms of the parking arrangements, they refuse to help with waiving the fine.. I called the pub and staff were very rudeand not helpful at all. I spoke to Marina, to give feedback, and she put the phone down on me mid-call when I tried explaining why I was unhappy.

The most unwelcoming and rude reception I have ever received in a pub. 8.30 on a Friday night, the pub was empty. We wanted food for us and our friends. The bartender was obstinate and only allowed us to order 8 meals between 11 of us. Made us rush our order then refused to bring our wine to the table and told us to collect it from the bar ourselves
