Staff are helpful, breakfasts service was excellent.

So came on a Caledonian coach trip. Wow this place is up there for being one of the worst hospitality experiences ever. On arrival the place reminded me of Crossroads Motel and much of the service on offer is stuck firmly in that era. Reception looked lovely with shiny marble floor and waterfall but that is as good as it got. The problems started with the get go when we read the directions on the wall to point us to our rooms. The arrows pointed us to the restaurant and bar instead of upwards to where we needed to go. The rooms we clean but loads of problems. No sockets near your bed to charge your phone. Shower had missing tiles and had zero pressure so the water trickled out. The restaurant experience however was the worst. The trip included a 3 course meal and it was 3 courses of slop. For starters I was served with what looked like warm chicken cat food next to a bed of salad. Main was chicken curry with a nick thick slick of oil running through it and dessert some very cheap looking strawberry cheesecake I decided not to eat. Daughter had burnt garlic bread, a terrible looking burger which she left and ice cream which was OK. Breakfast was a shambles. The cereal section consisted of 3 mini boxes of rice krispies and 3 pots of ready mix porridge on a shelf with no milk next to it yo make it up. English breakfast offered some anemic overcooked turkey bacon and beef sausages. No coffee, no milk next to the tea station so you had to hunt for it. The toast machine was old and slow so gave up on that idea. Really really bad. If the hotel responds to this saying I'm sorry we'll youre clearly not as the previous reviews have told you the same and you've done nothing to improve it. Caledonian if you're reading this you need to have a word with the management because this hotel really let down was was a great trip otherwise.

I went with Caledonian for one night and the hotel experience was not great at all. The Hotel looks nice upon arrival but the rooms are practically falling apart. The shower was chipped and the taps were hard to rotate, not to mention the "lock" on the door doesn't work. The tiles chipped whilst in the shower itself and you can see that it needs redone, silicone pushed into the cracks to hide them but it's clearly visible and peeling. The hot water also does not work consistently. Beds were nice but you can hear everything your neighbour does, especially if located next to a busy room like I was. The Dinner was horrible, had a choice of a 3 course meal. Soup was nice although for the buns you get a small uncooked piece of bread and the burger with fries was stale and burger was soggy. Person across from me got burnt garlic bread. The fries did not have any potato in them and when I broke them they were hollow. The cake was stale and dry, safe to say the buffet breakfast was better disregarding the dirty cups. I do think there is potential for the hotel but the food and rooms desperately need to be redone and I won't be returning voluntarily. One positive is that the staff were friendly. I have added some photos of the food and bathroom, but there was much more wrong.

We stayed here over the weekend with a large group booked by a tour company. The hotel can not cope with parties such as ours. Check in was poorly organised and protracted. The room was dated and there were a previous guest body hair stuck to the bathroom tiles. The bed was hard and creaky. Kettle didn’t appear to work then turned itself on randomly after 10 minutes. No plug sockets next to the bed. I was ignored by bar staff and males were served ahead of me (who were stood behind me) The meal was poor. They had no intention of serving anything other than meat to all guests. I had to ask 3 times if the soup was suitable for vegetarians- we don’t actually know what the soup was. The chicken was reported to be very dry and all food was thrown at us by what looked like the owners mum and sister who had been called in to deal with us at the last minute. I was told that a veggie meal could be cooked by the chef and I was brought a curry that was lovely - but 15 minutes after everyone else had eaten. Breakfast was sparse and equally as poor - the comment was “ we are trying to keep up”. There was no milk alternative readily available and no one around to ask. Glasses for juice were eventually brought by a waitress who had her fingers stuck inside them to carry them. Would not return

There was a problem with the shower in my room (which itself was very good, clean etc) but the manager was exceptional in dealing with it. I was upgraded to an executive room. Wow. I'm booking this place for my wife and I when we have a leisure visit. Outstanding service. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who were all lovely.

Stayed for one night, staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms a bit dated but good value and clean, bed comfortable and no noise during the night. Would stay again. Large carpark with no extra charges was a bonus, just log your reg plate on screen in reception.

My friend got married here 20 years ago when it was a Holiday Inn and there doesn’t have seemed to be any renovation since. The room was tired and far too dark. The bed was huge and very comfortable though but got a terrible nights sleep as all I good here was a regular loud banging noise above. I sounded like a washing machine on spin cycle but it was every 30 mins throughout the night. Breakfast was pretty mediocre Not worth the money I paid for the room.
