"Lovely hotel room was smaller than expected and also the bathroom but it had everything we needed and was lovely and clean the breakfast was lovely catered for my gluten intolerance and the staff were really lovely especially Olivia who served us drinks for both nights nothing was too much trouble for her would highly recommend and we will be back"
"My husband and I stayed here in one of the larger posh 4-poster bed rooms for 2 nights nights. It is an ideal location, being a very short walk from the village high street, across the road from the harbour with beautiful lake views, but tucked high enough away from any street noise. And because it's a proper hotel, the room we booked was large enough, and even had a bidet. There was adequate parking, a lovely full English breakfast buffet, and a fancy bar and restaurant onsite. The only downside was that the lift was broken, so we had to climb to the top floor many times a day, and construction was taking place on site, but that was quiet for us as our room was around the other side of the building. If you're there in the dead of summer, there was no AC. (Just a heads up in case you're from the states and used to it all hotel rooms) Not currently any pool or hot tub at the time of typing this.
I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to my friends. 👍🏼"
"The Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness.
The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude.
The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens.
We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that.
Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again."
"Overall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket."
"The Windermere Hydro Hotel is located in the center of the Lake District. The hotel is very nice, on a slope, the rooms are very clean, the breakfast is very rich, and the free parking lot is particularly recommended, which provides very convenient conditions for self-driving people"
"It's mid-mountain, and the environment is fantastic. However, the hike to the lake takes over half an hour, making it inconvenient. Driving would be perfect.
There's no air conditioning, but there are fans. It might not be necessary on normal days when the temperature isn't high. But it was too hot on the first day, and the second day, when it rained and the temperature dropped, the air conditioning was completely unnecessary.
The breakfast was excellent. If it were me, I'd just stay near the hotel, not go anywhere, and just stare blankly. It was so relaxing, hahaha."
"The location is great. Breakfast was good and delicious. Room is acceptable.
The downside is there are limited parking onsite. This caused quite a bit of angst every night for our 3 nights at the hotel."
"Very good environment and accommodation, the whole hotel is a small resort with a very good environment. The room was clean and tidy, the apartment also had kitchen equipment and a full set of cutlery. The hotel is very close to the lake area and shopping is very close, very convenient. The Lake District is so beautiful! We will come again! recommend!"
