Worst service and experience I had in a hotel in the last ten years. Got there after a long hiking day on the Escapardenne Lee Trail and were "greeted" by a cold, distant middle-aged man at the reception. He barely spoke to us or looked at us and slammed the key card on the counter with disdain. Since we had hiked over 18 km that day I was hungry but I also have a serious food allergy. Since we came without a car, driving to another restaurant was not an option for us and the next one was too far away on foot. So I inquired kindly about the dinner menu at the hotel. The unfriendly receptionist only grunted something like "Just come down later and we will see." Wow! I was flabbergasted. So I spent over an hour worrying in our room if there would be something I could eat later. When we finally went to dinner they told me there was ONE meal I could probably eat. Not anything I would have liked to eat but what choice did I have. I felt totally shunned. The meal was served with a side soup. I ate it, believing that they had gotten the memo about my allergy and taken this into account. End of story: I got sick and was in pain and discomfort all night. Thanks for nothing. Next morning a friendly young female staff member went immediatly to get me special bread rolls for breakfast - so obviously they do care about food allergies if you are lucky to run into the right person. I appreciated her service a lot! When we had to leave - we had obligations that day - we waited several minutes at the lobby to check out. We rang the bell but nobody showed up. So we finally left the key card on the desk and left. A few days later we got an e-mail about not having paid our dinner bill during check-out (obviously not since nobody was there to check us out). We were supposed to send the money via bank transfer which is quite a hassle since we are not from Luxenbourgh. I asked if online payment via credit card was possible. They never answered and it has been three days now. Wow. This is a complete joke for a place that prides itself with four stars. The service was one star, the room maybe three and the cold "welcome" as well as the fact that they do not give a thing about their guest's health is inacceptable. Do not stay here, actually it is outright dangerous if you have a food allergy since they don't know anything and don't care. Glad I did not get hospitalized. I have stayed in over 200 hotels in the last ten years and this experience was one of the worst ever.

The location of this hotel is great, quiet in beautiful surroundings. Breakfast is fine with lots of choice, even champagne should you want it. The hotel has no air conditioning, pay attention to that when you book in the summer. Dinner is also good but pricey, with 2 people you are easily over 100 Dollars/Euro. Only point of attention I want to give: pay attention to the bill during check out, the staff wants you to put all consumptions on the room. We don't do that because we like to keep the overview. We have been there 2 times and 2 times the invoice was not correct. The first time there was a bottle of wine on our bill and the second time 2 cokes and an ice tea while we never had anything put on the room. So if you choose to do this and you stay for several days then there are probably drinks on it that you never never had, but do you remember all the drinks you had? Otherwise it is a fine hotel.
