Greg was an amazing host - we arrived last minute and we were blown away with his every effort to fit us in and make us feel welcome. As we went in for dinner we were greeted with his bagpipes and ushered into the lounge room where a fire was burning. Cheese platter and wine followed by convict stories and history about the farm. We also squeezed in golf just before dinner on a rather flat but challenging course. Vistas forever in every direction it was a delight for any photographer. We even sneeked down to the brook in the early morning to see the platypus playing in reeds. Must do for any avid or none avid golfer.

I was so looking forward to our stay at Ratho farm but felt let down by the reality of it .. the photos of our room were def not what we were offered .After being moved we were still very disappointed with the accomodation . …. The farm is definitely rustic and needs a little love and attention to detail … The dinner evening started with a bagpiper in the drive which was lovely and then an informative half hour of tales from the past with the fire blazing and cheeses served ..dinner is the served with more conversations of the farms history .. a lovely evening…Food was preordered the day before and my vegan option was sad in this day and age .. it seems most reviewers love Ratho farm but I just couldn’t see it …

Great accommodation in a peaceful and beautiful setting. Beds comfortable, plenty of heating options. Staff fabulous, Food at the group dinner was amazing and great value for money. Fire in the homestead was cosy and the cheese platter with other guests made the night.

A working farm and fantastically restored historical buildings. We enjoyed walking part of the golf course and the serenity was fantastic

This was the highlight of our recent 3 week trip around Tassie. Any golfer who enjoys something different from all the resort courses you play on holiday, this is a must. An absolute delight to play the course that is a mixture of old world holes around sheep yards to top of the line golf holes beside rivers and wetland areas. A GEM!!! The accomodation was excellent, nestled beside a wonderful creek. We stayed in the Bakery which was a delightfully renovated cottage with a verandah overlooking the stream. Just a great friendly old world experience.

This accommodation was intriguing both for its history and its location on Australia's oldest golf course! Our cottage, originally the bakery of the cluster of 1822 colonial farm buildings, was beautifully refurbished into a comfortable 2 bedroom unit. It had everything we needed, although the kitchenette area was cramped with little space to make hot drinks or prepare food. Meals are available on site - advance booking required. The surroundings were tranquil, so if peace and quiet (or golf!) is your desire, this is the place to be! We enjoyed the birdlife. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming.

Great friendly host, great atmosphere, loved the rustic charm. Wish we had more time to explore the farm and surrounding areas. Our accommodation looked suspect from the outside but well appointed inside. Enjoyed the cheese and crackers get-together with other guests. We should have had the dinner, it looked amazing. Well done to our host/chef. We loved our overnight stay.

Unfortunately there was an electrical fault with the light switches so we were unable to use the lights most of the time. No hand towel provided which is unusual and a few more clothes hangers would have been helpful. 2 is really basic minimum. The bulb had blown in the bed side lamp so with other lighting problems this was not ideal. Apart from the room issues listed we loved our time at Rath and enjoyed the communal dining experience in the homestead and history given of the farm.

This place is great. The host Michael was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The cottages are lovely and comfortable and the property beautiful. Sitting under the big old Oak tree having a drink - perfect. We will certainly go back. Thanks for your hospitality Michael and the most delicious Apple & Berry crumble. 😊
