Rila is the best hotel in Borovets in my opinion. 1. The biggest, with a rich lobby bar. 2. Closest to ”western” service in Bulgaria. Friendly and smiling staff. 3. Very clean rooms and new and clean amenities. 4. Central in the village, close to all restaurants and souvenirs shops. 5. Has an indoor pool (beware - the water is cold and not heated in summer or winter), jacuzzi, jim, sauna, all type of spa treatments and massages. Note that all those open at 9 AM . 6. Rooms have air conditioning if you like it, not obvious in Bulgaria. We always go to Rila when we go to Borovets, for ski or for summer holiday. It's worth the money for us.

In one of the more peaceful spots of Borovets at the Rila Mountain, the renovated Lion Hotel Borovets offers an indoor pool and a free shuttle service to the lifts. Seen some negative reviews on here. I’d just say it’s good value. If you’re looking for 4/5star this aint for you. If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable to sleep and are happy to eat basic Bulgarian food. then jump in. Stayed with my 11 year old son, he was happy enough (using his mobile data, the wifi is poor), ate the food without too much fuss. Staff were pleasant and kind. Would stay again. Might forgo the halfboard, and just eat out for dinner. Although for the money it was nice to have the choice.
