So after traveling most of the day, we arrived late Christmas eve, after checking in we went straight to the restaurant to see if we could grab something to eat. The young girl serving was friendly. And offered to make us some cheesey chips. Which were lovely, but there was a group of men sat in the corner drinking shots and acting very aggressive. We felt very intimidated. (we found out the next day they were actually staff members) Anyway, we got to our cabin which seemed cosy enough, but we only had a double bed and one single, so we had to make upthe sofa bed ourselves. The next day which was Christmas day we wanted to go to the town to try a bit of Skiing and explore the area, when we asked at reception if we could get the shuttle bus down, which we were informed when booking that there would be free regular shuttle to and from town. we were told by a very rude woman that the shuttle bus only Leaves at 8 and 8.30am. And then returns at 4.30 but if you don't get the shuttle bus in the morning, he won't pick you up in the afternoon. So we had to pay for taxis all week. ( we didn't want to get up so early when on holidays just to be able to get the shuttle bus) we found out later in the week that it leaves that early to go to town as its on his way to pick up the resort staff to start their work day. Anyway when we were booking the holiday we decided to book the "Christmas day feast" at the yagoda restaurant which was at 7pm Christmas day. We sat down at our reserved table which had plates of tomato, cheese and pesto for each person, a basket of bread, some cheese bites and a huge bowl of fruit... This was lovely and we had high expectations for the rest of the "feast", however 2 hours passed by and we were still waiting for the next course.. When this arrived it was 3 tiny pieces of meat, some sort of watery gravy and a mash potato scoop which I could only describe as potato sorbet... There were honestly bits of ice in my mash! At this point other tables were getting up and leaving, then they brought our desert which was a mushy chocolate cake. We were so disappointed we had paid almost £200 for this. A few days into our stay we were left an IKEA bag outside our cabin with clean sheets in. If you ever do decide to ignore the reviews and stay here then please do not make the mistake I made of taking off the duvet covers and cases off the thin lumpy pillows, cause it is horrifying. They are full of yellow and brown stains, it's disgusting. I should also mention that the cabins are self catering...which consists of a 2 ring hob, a fridge, 4 saucer size plates, 2 mugs, 1 saucepan and 1 frying pan. There really isn't enough self catering amenities available in the cabin. This place has so much potential and could be a 5 star resort as the surroundings are beautiful. But everything inside the cabins would need ripping out and started again... Especially those duvets and pillows!!!!! We will deffinatly visit borovets again, but we will be steering
