The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire

We were looking for a hotel with a pool - for a relaxing 2 day break. Came across this hotel which seemed to have everything we wanted. It has easy and secure parking. The room, whilst not big had everything we needed - bath and shower, comfortable bed and pillows, coffee pod machine, tea and biscuits. The staff were, without exception, excellent - friendly, polite, professional and efficient. They could not have done more to make our stay comfortable. The pool was lovely - easily big enough. There was a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna. This is not a spa with treatments but it is a lovely place to have a swim and relax. The changing room could be upgraded and only had one cubical - but it was acceptable. The food was good. There was a very good choice and it was fairly priced. Wine was a bit pricey - house wine £30 but they were all good wines - so you didn't mind paying. There was a coffee area serving coffee and cakes throughout the day and a well stocked bar. It was a very relaxing place to stay- very good value (they were doing some good one and two night deals) and very enjoyable. Boroughbridge is a good location - close to Harrogate, Knaresborough, York and easy access to the two Yorkshire National Parks I would recommend and we are looking forward to returning'

A superb stay! From the excellent coffee in the coffee lounge on arrival to the lovely spa, the private function room for our celebration meal and the rooms that were spacious and beautifully decorated it was a true gem of a stay. All staff were helpful and friendly and worked hard to give us a great stay. Breakfast was cooked to order and the best we’ve had in a while. Truly warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.

We went on a package deal which included leisure club access and afternoon tea. The leisure club is old and does require refurbishment, however the facilities were fine for an hour or so and we were provided with gowns and towels. The afternoon tea was excellent. We were able to select from the full coffee menu (more than once). The sandwiches were full of filling and lovely and fresh. The scones were of a decent size and the selection of 6 cakes/mini desserts was delicious. Service was also tip top. Thoroughly recommended!

The hotel was booked due to its location but what an absolute gem of a place. The interior is homely and full of interest. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated. The spa facilities and gym were a welcome addition after a busy day. It even hosts its own coffee shop! I'm sure a popular place for both locals and guests. The bar is well stocked and had a great variety of non alcoholic options which was perfect for me and by far the best I have come across. If you thought this all sounds like a great hotel there's more! ... The food is outstanding 👌 The breakfast menu is delicious and the eggs perfectly poached! But for me the dish of the week was the venison. So good I had it for 3 nights! Each night it was cooked perfectly and great value for money. Well done chefs, I haven't eaten this well in any other hotel. The star of the hotel is the general manager Emma. Warm and welcoming, she is a perfect host. Nothing too much trouble and I can't wait to come back to my new home from home.
