Arrived ok, no problem so far. Checked in, pay up front - ok, not unheard of… Got to the room, the first thing we saw was a tatty bathroom door. It’s obviously been knocked, and the paintwork damaged, also there was water damage to the bottom. This was explained when we used the shower and the spray went over the floor and pooled below the door. The promised bathtub was included, although no plug. Try having a bath without a plug!! The shower was a hand held spray hooked to the wall at waist height. Bizarre. The mirror was damaged at the bottom, the whole room was rather neglected, although it was clean, so these pieces of damage are obviously being ignored. The bedroom had a comfortable bed, although the room was rather dark and poorly lit. Reading wasn’t easy. There was one armchair, in a room for two people (?), a dining room chair and a wooden stool. Unusual mix. The armchair seat was heavily stained (?!). Not tempting to sit in! Quite why we had two fridges in the room was not apparent. Not many sockets were available, and we could only use the kettle by plugging it in under the television. Which was fine as we couldn’t use the television as the remote had no batteries. The hospitality tray was minimally stocked, and when we asked for milk we were told we could go and buy some as the hotel had no milk. Although there was some at breakfast the following day. No doubt we could have bought new batteries too. When paying €300 for two nights, surely a few tablespoons of milk is not a big ask? It was disappointing that the staff couldn’t be bothered to help with such a small request. Breakfast was ok, no hot food available and it was self service. There was a button operated hot drinks machine, with milk available, mini croissants and pains au chocolat, artisan breads, muesli type mix, fruit, yoghurts, one variety of ham and some very bland cheese. The room felt a bit like a hostel dining room with a big animal mural on the wall and the constant drip from an air conditioning unit onto a towel on the floor. The tables and chairs were clean, but the staff - again - uninterested. A good 20 min walk into Bordeaux, which is a beautiful city. Plenty of good places to eat and pleasant staff there. We will definitely come back to Bordeaux, but definitely not to the Victoria Garden!

The hotel staff (short and curly haired lady) in the reception wasn’t helpful and always gave us a blank stare when we were talking to her. She didn’t seem to understand English and made no attempts to provide any further help when asked. Firstly, when we told her that the phone in our room is not working, she just gave us a blank stare and said all phones are not working, is ok. She kept giving us a blank stare, so we gave up and had to live with needing to come down for every single thing we need because the phone wasn’t working. Secondly, for breakfast, they make you fry your own eggs, which is ok. But they serve breakfast until 11am during the weekends, and when we came down at 10.15am and there was barely anything left. There was only 1 egg left, and when we asked for more, she said that there’s no more and walked away. How could there be no raw eggs?! That’s the most basic thing. They need eggs for every dish and it’s highly impossible to not have any raw eggs left! The eggs are the only thing we can eat for breakfast as the rest are just bread. She insisted we eat the pre-mixed scrambled eggs instead, which of course we had no choice but didn’t really like. Next, when we asked her for help to get a taxi, we told her this one hour in advance. But when the time came for us to leave, she dismissively said to wait for 1-2mins. We waited for 5 mins, and when we asked her again, she said just wait for 10 mins and the cab is coming. We waited for 15 mins and still no cab! All she said to us was that they’re having a circulation problem. And all the time she was speaking to us in French, when she already knew we couldn’t speak French! I tried to use google translate but whatever she was saying, even after translation, still doesn’t make sense (logically). In the end, we just booked an Uber ourselves and we got the car in 2 minutes!! She could have just informed us to get a Uber instead of just muttering things in French which we didn’t understand. Really ruined our 3 days there and our impression of Bordeaux! Thankfully we moved to a different hotel and the difference in service level was stark! Our new hotel and experience with their staff made whatever time we had left in Bordeaux more enjoyable. Never stay in this hotel if you don’t speak French. And if you want to have a good time in Bordeaux, stay away from this hotel!

This hotel is not a hotel. It is more a hostel. At hotel prices. It is dirty. It stank when we got there, of nothing I'd ever experienced before. And I've spent many a night backstage at music festivals. It is hot. It has one window which can be opened and it needs to be open as otherwise you are in a sauna. And that's with the windows facing north. Heaven help those on the other side of the place, no really, I am worried about you. Because of the open window, even with the shutter closed, no air comes in but what you do get is noise, doors slamming all night long, loud horrendous music from their bar. Or you don't shut the shutter and leave the room open at ground level to anyone wanting to dive right in. It is priced at hotel prices. It is not eco. In any way. Being eco means designing a building to be suitable for use in an ecological fashion. This place is badly designed, badly fitted out, has no amenities and is just a cheap and nasty hostel. By the way, we also got bitten by a plague of things from the moment we got there to the moment we left. We should have gone after the first night but you live and learn. Such a fantastic city, this place should be condemned. What a waste of money. The only nice bit is the potager plants and herbs on the rear walkway. Which of course you see quite alot of as you don't want to spend any more time than necessary in the actual room. Oh and we couldn't lock the door from the inside, as it had recently been smashed in.

The hotel is beautifuly maintained, the staff is great. Continental reakfast at 10 euros is ok but fruits could be improved a bit. I was grateful that they were willing to go find me gluten free bread. Perhaps you could add a few more items to the continental breakfast. Guests should be aware of the location of this hotel. It is a long walk to downtown and while there is a tram within 15 minute walking distance, we did not feel very safe in this area. Not recommend you walk around after dark.

This hotel can easily be reached from the train station, just take the exit to the back side of the station (where also a good pizzeria is and all the intercity buses pick up passengers). Like that you can easily reach the hotel in 5 minutes by foot. So, if you don't mind not being in the city center/old town and willing to use the nice trams and buses (both no problem at all), this is a good choice. Supposed you don't pay the official prices, but rather get a good deal (through the hotel or booking platforms). Then, and I think that's probably the normal case, this hotel can offer excellent value for the bucks. It's one of the few hotels I've experienced where the floor-level-entry shower didn't flood the whole bathroom. The hotel per se is a 4-star officially, with new rooms and amenities, but lacks in some areas compared to other 4-stars. E.g. if you arrive early and can't check in yet, you likely can't use the free wifi as it only accepts french phone numbers. Other quirks: The bathroom can't be locked, the lamps in the room can only be controlled from one side of the bed, one can not adjust the shower head's direction, has to go for the rain shower, I'd recommend setting the air-con to off during the night. The keycard sometimes stops working if stored in a purse with other magnetic cards. Also, the cleaning service is sub-par: If one doesn't leave by noon, the staff doesn't check later in the afternoon again, instead just doesn't clean the room. Bed linen also aren't renewed daily, which is something one generally expects from a 4-star (although often not really needed and not very environment-friendly). The reception staff are friendly, but in those times when only 1 person is at the reception, you might have to wait 5-10 minutes to get addressed. To me it's a bit of a mystery why the architect designed the windows relatively small, considering this is a very new hotel building. But the rooms per se are great. Prices for the laundry service are prohibitively excessive (e.g. you can buy a new t-shirt for the same price instead). The breakfast is also quite pricey, at 19 EUR.

We stayed in ‘superior studio’ for 2 nights during heatwave. The room was air conditioned, clean with a comfortable bed, nice little kitchen, shower room. The room was on third floor and involved a walk up from the second floor on external staircase and across a little bridge. This was a bit of a nuisance if we got to the ground floor and realised we’d forgotten something in the room - didn’t do it twice! Hotel is really well located just a couple of minutes to tram stop and with parking on site. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Even though beddings pillows duvet bedsheets are comfy and clean there is no AC on the bedroom, no vent, no fan and in Bordeaux at 36 degrees at night it’s impossible to sleep. Cleanliness is not at its best either in private bathroom. I had some rubbish inside my locker from previous guest and breakfast has no lactose free or gluten free option but oranges. Staff are nice and helpful but not too much.. at checkin the young man told me he’s not allowed to be too friendly with guest…?!? Prices are fine and the terrace comfortable.

GGuest UserLocation: Initially, I was concerned about the location since the hotel isn’t located in or near Bordeaux downtown. However, it was a non-issue due to available transportation options and quick tram ride to the main attractions in Bordeaux. The tram station is a short walk to/from the hotel. We had no issues getting back to the hotel via the tram even at late (December) night. Hotel staff and rooms/facility: The hotel staff did their best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They all spoke fluent English. We had two rooms and both of them were very comfortable. I did not have any issues with the noise from either side of the rooms (5th floor) we were staying. The hotel is pretty new and nicely laid out for a comfortable stay. Good size high quality bottled water has been placed in the room by the housekeeping daily and we really appreciated that. Breakfast: Breakfast was great and had a lot of options. The restaurant has a very nice commercial grade automatic espresso machine at your disposal and I was able to make any coffee myself. Overall, we all enjoyed staying at the Renaissance Bordeaux and the city of Bordeaux. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bordeaux.

GGuest UserWe visited Bordeaux for the first time for a family wedding. I must say the location of the hotel was excellent, cleanliness of a very high standard, but most of all very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. The breakfast was nice, albeit at €15 each not the cheapest for a family of 5. The reception staff booked our taxis for the airport and the chateau for the wedding with little fuss. The taxis are a little expensive but that’s not the hotels fault, and most taxi drivers (not all) drive with their mobile in their hand, so be prepared for a potentially scary ride. I would recommend this hotel for a short break, we were there for 5 nights, we had two rooms on different floors, so would try and get them close together if staying again.

GGuest UserSupernice and supergood hotel, marvelous room and central downtown location. Normally i book rooms in the 100-150E range. I decided to go a bit more luxurious and i tremendously enjoyed it. Im an easy going traveler, i was i Bordeaux to assess architecture and urbanism projects. I rented a bike to go around the city. The hotel staff is very naturel an friendly, no rush to empty your wallet but rather making sure you have a great time... Best hotel experience i had i a lon time travelling the globe. Wholeheartedly recommended!! Bordeaux is the best French City!

GGuest UserFirstly I don't normally submit reviews. I think everyone's experience is subjective based on where you've travelled before and what your expectations are. I also think it only fair to address issues with management before posting on a public forum. All of these concerns that I refer to below have been expressed to the management and the response to date has been indifferent at best. Overall this hotel is overdue a refurbishment but unfortunately the tired nature of the decor extends to the staff and management also. My problems were many. The room was not serviced properly on two days. Paint was flaking from the walls and the air-conditioning did not work properly, which meant the room was frequently cold. The room was also poorly lit, which created a very depressing ambience. Check in and check out were comical. When I checked out I was given no bill, no invoice or any receipt, neither was one emailed to me. When I got home I saw that I had been overbilled by €300 which management told me was normal practice but was being refunded to me. By the way it took three days of emailing management to be told this. This could have easily been avoided or cleared this up if I was given an bill/invoice or informed of this by reception, none of which happened. There were other issues. The downstairs common areas are small, rundown and completely misrepresented by the hotels website. The staff refused to hail me a cab and told me to go inside and order one. A small issue, but surely that's one of the benefits of staying in a five star hotel. Finally communication. I emailed them, using the address provided on their website, filled out a contact form on the website and finally completed a customer satisfaction survey. No of this aroused the attention of the Hotel Management. Finally I resorted to the only tried and trusted method, Twitter. I eventually got a response here, but it too was also slow and labored. The room was €500 per night. It was far from value for money. Would I go to Bordeaux again, most definitely yes. Would I stay in this hotel again, most definitely no. The problems in this hotel extend across the board, it will take some effort to fix them.

GGuest UserVery good spacious layout, and even came with a kitchenette, especially useful when staying on sun or public holiday where restaurants are not opened, like in my case. Great location and I can access tram B and A less than 100m away. I stayed for 5 nights, and the only issue I had was that the bed if on the loft, which has poor air circulation, so I kept waking up due to stuffiness and sometimes in sweat even though the main floor was a cool 18 degrees and outside is about 12 degrees. If they would install a fan in the loft that will help a lot. Otherwise, a great place to recommend!

The location is acceptable, in the central area of Bordeaux, 500 meters walk after getting off the airport bus, the gate entrance is on the side of the street, easy to find, arrive at more than 10 o'clock in the evening, there are many people at the entrance of the bar, and feel safe. The rooms are small, with good hygiene, comfortable bedding and average breakfast. The front desk was good, and the taxi was booked, a better experience.

GGuest UserStayed here for one night for a stopover en route to Spain. The hotel is in a very run down area down a derelict side street. You have to ring a bell to get inside and there's only one receptionist working. Our door would not lock so we got given a different room but the bathroom smelled very badly of drains so had to keep the door shut. The hotel has a snack menu and due to arriving late we couldn't get anywhere to eat as all places either bars full of students or run down kebab houses, along with super expensive restaurants where nobody wanted to go. The hotel menu consisted of various hot snacks but we were told only pizza was available. Very pricey and undercooked, very disappointing. Room had one coffee sachet and one tea bag for two people, no water. Breakfast very expensive but varied and tasty. Wouldn't go again it's in a horrible area.

Kkrustyburger666I paid £38 for a night through a third party website. The room was small but comfortable. The tv was extremely small. The bathroom could use a renovation admit is slightly dated. However, the location of the hotel is perfect and the sound proofing was good enough. I would come again.

NNabil FHello, I'm going to write in English and French. Here's the pro about apparteo (Good location next to the bassins a flot, really nice view during my stay which you could see a beautiful sunset 🌇 , bus station just in front of the hotel and not too far away the tram station cité du vin which is only 5 Stations away from Center of Bordeaux, you have also Les hangars not far away which is one of the most peaceful place to walk day or night, I mean Apparteo position is actually really good, everything looked clean except a few things but doesn't bother, it is a also a residence of students) Now about the cons, if someone didn't help me, I couldn't have entered the building nor having access to do the check-in, in fact you need a pin code that I Never received which the card of your room is inside with other card which can be a little bit odd, anyway can have access to it, the office was close each time I try to check someone no matter the time, the smell in the bathroom was really unpleasant but I could manage to get over it from opening every window and little perfume, but it come back if I keep the door close of the bathroom The table where I was eating was moving a lot, but honestly other than those few cons that can be managed, it was a really pleasant stay, I enjoyed a lot and could sleep really well, calm, peaceful, nice view I highly recommend this place as the few cons can be solved easily, just wished to see someone at the reception and it would have been even better. Peace ✌️🕊️
