Volubilis Luxury Guest House

After a long week of travel throughout France, this was the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate. It’s in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes walk from a tram line and wonderful restaurants. While we weren’t able to enjoy the morning breakfast or meet the hosts/ staff, the rest of the amenities were great, especially the amazingly comfortable bed. The front door is rather inconspicuous, so make sure you look for the sign on the wall. Overall, it was a pleasant stay away from the busyness of downtown Bordeaux.

Nicely done and bed was very comfortable. Convenient for where we needed to be, but a good walk or tram ride into the center of Bordeaux

I spent three nights at Volubilis Guest House and here's my feedback: Positive aspects: nice and spacious room; good breakfast; helpful staff; good location (even if it is not in the city-center). Negative aspects: the room soundproofing is not good at all (you can hear the noise coming from the street and other guests walking around, having breakfast, taking a shower, etc.); no daily housekeeping is provided; breakfast is available from 8 a.m. onwards, which is a bit late if you have to leave early in the morning and you would like to have breakfast before leaving; no elevator; the shutters and curtains are not blackout so the room is not completely dark (which is not very pleasant if you are sensitive to sunlight). Personally, I would not stay at this guest house again.

I did not end up staying at Volubiis Guest House and perhaps that was a good thing. My husband and I booked in early January, but changed our plans a week or so later. I asked for a refund. I had given the place a full 1000 plus dollars on my major credit card. After many promises of a refund coming it did not. I had to file a dispute with my credit card. Mr. Bernardi, at Volubis, claimed it was the fault of Stripe, which is a payment processing place. I contacted Stripe, and this was not so. Luckily my credit card company figured out that this was shady and finally, Bernardi, allowed or legitimized to his bank I was due a refund. It took two months and lots of mistruths, via emails from Volubis Guest House. Also, I tried calling the guest house, but the owner would not answer my calls, but did answer the call from Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce who contacted him on my behalf. He also told them wrong info. Sad, the place looked good as per photos on line. Beware!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here for our 2 year wedding anniversary! We loved the private patio area with chairs, the modern bathroom and storage within the bedroom, and the kitchen/breakfast area. The bed was also incredibly comfortable - the best I have ever stayed in outside of my home! The location is in a nice residential area, not far from the tram and a few local neighborhood restaurants. We felt very safe here, even walking around late at night. The kitchen was very convenient and well stocked with knives, plates, wine glasses as well and we were able to enjoy a nice wine and cheese evening on the patio by ourselves. Morning breakfast was lovely with plenty of both delicious and healthy items. We did notice that the door to the room was a bit thin and you were able to hear most movement/talking outside of the room, but we were some of the only guests here during our stay and were not bothered by the sound. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will be back! Thanks for a great stay :)

Such a beautiful space with a very comfortable bed! I would definitely stay here again.
