Everything was perfect, wonderful service, wonderful food, wonderful beaches.

Let me start off by saying the staff was really nice and attentive. The food was decent but way over-priced [even for a remote island]. Lola our initial staff contact kept checking up on us and they even upgraded us from a regular overwater bungalow to one with a pool. Unfortunately that bungalow came with giant cockroaches. When we called them they wouldn't move us, they didn't seem to care and they would just send a guy who barely spoke english with a can of bug spray. See attached pictures. The second issue was the bill. When I initially made the reservation we pre-paid for the room/nights. I spoke with them via email. Confirmed the check-in check-out dates. The representative said they will send me a link to pre-pay and then confirmation of my payment. I got a link and paid it via credit card. So when we got to the resort we had already paid for the room and everything else [incidentals....spa food, etc] goes to the room and you settle up at the end. I know since we are staying at this supposedly nice resort it might be kind of an eye-roll moment to complain but we saved for this 20yr anniversary vacation. So the entire time as we are eating at the restaurants, going to the spa, etc we are keeping a general tally in our head about what our settle-up bill will look like. Because we are trying to keep it within a certain amount. The day before check out we figured it would be roughly $2500. Needless to say I was shocked when I got the final bill and it was roughly $5000. When I pushed back to find out where the additional $2500 comes from it turns out they forgot to charge us for 1 night of the room in that initial link from a few months ago. That wasn't the bad part. Because if I stayed in the room then I owed the money. Fine. What was super annoying was that I was made to feel very uncomfortable for questioning the bill and then having him show me where the extra almost $2500 was coming from. I felt like I needed to go back through my emails from over 2 months ago, look through the back & forth from when I paid for the room just to verify the amounts. But they were in XPF and it was 3 months ago and the desk staff were making me feel very uncomfortable as it was. So here I am writing this review so you don't make the same mistake.

*I’m reposting as I realized some of my review was cut off! It’s hard to describe how heavenly this resort actually is. The location is absolutely stunning, the resort itself is gorgeous, the service is impeccable. Our room was something dreams are made of! We had an overwater bungalow (upgraded to a pool bungalow!), room 101, and we absolutely loved it and think it’s the best room in the resort! We loved the location because we did not have neighbors to our left, we had a beautiful ocean view, and an amazing view of the famous mountain! Our room was huge and so very clean. We loved the Bluetooth connection, napping in the hammock, and stargazing at night. We were supposed to go to the Bora Bora Beach Club one day, but we ended up canceling because we couldn’t tear ourselves away from our room. We loved Lawrence! He was amazing and made sure that he went out of our way to make sure we had a very special stay and we did! The grounds of the hotel are very beautiful, so picturesque. All of the restaurants are beautiful, and we actually really enjoyed the food! We liked that the breakfast buffet was more like a brunch with items like vegetable fried rice, vegetable, lo mein, sesame vegetables, chicken bao buns (I forget the name). The spa was great and the boat transfers from the airport were wonderful. This trip was a lifetime in the making and was worth every penny and all the years we waited. I’m a travel agent, so I can be pretty picky and this was an absolute dream come true.
