We booked A Cheda after researching the island/area and were so looking forward to staying here for a long weekend for my wife's birthday. Unfortunately, my wife tested positive for covid the day before travel, so we did the right thing, stayed home, and proceeded to cancel flights, car rental, and dinner booking (all fine)... until we contacted the hotel to notify them and request if we could move our reservation or cancel it. The reply was an email detailing that the reservation was non-refundable and that it was too late for the hotel to make any other arrangements... they even blamed it on the booking system we used, Booking.com's – which was actually trying to contact the hotel for them to waive THEIR non-refundable choice, given we wanted to re-book for another time. It didn't matter. The hotel kept sending the same note saying they "invite us to get a refund from our insurance or credit card companies." We even proposed they keep half the reservation amount, but to no avail. Truly shocking service and experience for such a reputable establishment.
