ATTENTION! BEDBUG! Bedbug! Please read! This is our story : We checked in to the Vila Galé Porto . At the first night we discovered that the air conditioner and TV in our room were not working, it was damn cold that night in the room. Next day we were out all day , when we arrived at the hotel late at night, around 23:30, we changed our room. At the next morning, we noticed red marks on the bedsheet . We thought maybe a pimple has burst or something. The following day the situation became clearer: We found a live bedbug on the bed ( video) , along with a larger dead one near the eggs at the back of the bed (pic). We immediately let the staff know, who inspected the room and moved us to another one. When we asked about receiving documentation acknowledging the presence of bedbugs, the staff told us that no such document could be provided. They also told us that it’s just one room and maybe we brought it. But we were there just for two nights and for two night can not be so much bedbugs in a room. Also when you read the reviews from last month you see that some one else wrote that they found bed bugs as well! So be careful! After speaking with it was agreed that we would email them to describe the incident, and they would confirm the details in response. Yet , its been 2 or 3 days without response. Our bodies and hand are full of bed bug bites and they itches very much . We spend more than 200 euros for washing our clothes, spraying them against bed bugs and medicine. And yet no response from Hotel! Such a bad experience!

Just returned from a 3 night stay here. It is definitely not a 4* hotel but it has everything you need for a decent break. Let’s start with the low points, Mario at check in lacks the skill and personality for such an important job, first impressions count and he was not remotely interested or helpful. Our room was t ready, that was ok as we arrived at 11am, he said come back in a few hours, we left our cases at the hotel but we had to ask and it was as if we were asking for something hard. Came back to hotel just after 2, still not ready so we went to bar for refreshment and Mario said he would let us know when ready. 3.05pm no sign of Mario so husband went to reception and he had forgot about us! The good points, rooms although basic were clean and bed was comfortable. All rooms are air conditioned which was very welcome in the July heat and a small fridge stocked with mini bar items, but we used it for keeping our own drinks cool. The breakfast was very good and varied although the dining area can get very busy. There was a lovely pool to help cool you down but we had to book a time slot but it has amazing views of the city. Although this hotel isn’t in the centre of Porto it is a brisk 10 minute walk to lots of fabulous restaurants and the amazing sights that Porto has to offer! This Hotel provides great price for quality service. Due to its proximity to Campo 24 Augusto metro station you can easily access wherever you want in Porto and can easily reach the Hotel from Airport. The strength of this Hotel is its Management Team and excellent service. I would name Marina for her outstanding attitude to making our stay even more comfortable. The check-in was quick and although we had early arrival our junior suite was ready. We were give an upgrade to superior junior suite thanks to Marina and the GM - Mr Martins. The room had breathtaking views of Porto and provided great comfort! We had a double bed and a sofa bed, which was large enough for two kids. The rooms here are equipped with separate air-conditioners, which we did not use because of good weather. We had half board and I would emphasize that both breakfasts and dinners were of superb quality. The staff were quick and polite. The Hotel has pools and restaurants that offer lunch also. There is a huge supermarket Continente with its bakery that is only 2-3 minutes away from the Hotel. Also, the City Sightseeing bus has its departing point easily accessible from the Hotel just at 10 minutes walking distance . One may also prefer to reach the Old City with its jewels by walking some 25 minutes. Overall this Hotel is a great place to stay.

Nice hotel albeit the rooms are a bit dated and could benefit from brighter looking colour scheme. We had a premium twin room on 16th floor, the hotel overall is very clean. Cannot comment on the pool or spa area which we didn't use. We had a half board option excellent choice at breakfast and evening meal. The only downside is the plates and food could be hotter. Nice bar area in the reception - drinks reasonably priced. The hotel is a bit far from the city centre approx 30 min walk.
