Sianji Well-Being Resort

Firstly, if you are booking this resort for the Detox retreat please do so out of season – i.e not end of June/July/August. A friend recommended this resort as she’s a VIP member having been here 8 years in a row, however, she has also only ever been in April/May. If you don’t book out of season, then you will NOT have a relaxing experience as it is more of a family all inclusive resort with loud euro pop music round the pool, kids screaming and shouting everywhere and loud entertainment at night until midnight. There is also a resort nearby that plays awful louder music day and night. You can’t escape it no matter which part of the resort you stay in. We arrived late at night after a flight delay and were checked in without being given any further information about what we would need to do the next day, where to go for our morning juices etc. The air con in the room didn’t work, something I would have expected would have been on waiting for us. There was also one small cover for the bed for two people to share. As we were so tired we just crashed and thought the next day all would be better. We met with one of the wellness experts the next morning for our check in, however we had to go and find them, nobody contacted us, and it was almost 10am. She was very good and explained everything. We had our first juices and then went to head out for a relaxing day in the sun but unfortunately could not do this around the pool. Down on the beach was the same, music playing there. Not what you expect when you pay 400€ per day for a relaxing detox retreat. We just wanted to enjoy some peace and quiet. We were given a VIP cabana for the day, usually 130€ per day – not entirely sure what you are paying for as the beds are old, the decks are splintered and there is no service from the waiters there. Our room we realised was directly above the main entertainment area so that night we couldn’t sleep until that had finished, although that was not the only issue, the wifi and air con kept cutting out in the room. The next day we were able to speak to the manager Ceyda who did all she could to resolve the issues, she moved us to a lovely 3 bed villa at the far end of the resort and said we could use the cabana all week free of charge and offered us complimentary massages. The wifi issues continued, the music could still be heard at night and of course there was the added stress of not eating which probably magnified the situation but there was nothing else they could offer. The walls in the villa are paper thin so you can hear the family next door clear as day, banging around and kids screaming again. Yusef who made our juices every day was great, really looked after us and the day he was off it was all not so good! To summarise, this is NOT a 5 star resort, a lot of the rooms are tired, things not working. Very unpleasant and dissatisfying experience! We stayed in sea view lux villa!!! My branded belt was stolen by the staff from our room while we were out. Hotel security came and checked our room and our luggage and couldn’t find it. They asked for proof and I showed them a photo that we took. At last, we received a “regret letter”. Additional, beds were bended from the middle. Water was leaking from the basin in the bathroom. Looked very old and uncared therefore the daily cleaning has no good. Food quality was very poor.

Amazing Vista The hotel room had amazing views of the gardens & sea however the room itself although clean was tired & the balcony in need of refurbishing. We stayed on a B&B basis & the price we paid reflected on what we could expect. If we had been on an all-inclusive basis paying full price we would have been disappointed. Overall it was a good experience for a quiet holiday.

There are two reasons I’ve given this hotel 4* and not 5*. One is because of the number of cats that the staff are happy to allow roaming around and the hotel and dining areas. I have been coming to Turkey for 30 years so know well there are plenty of cats. I have no problem with that but here they seem to be encouraged by the staff. I have seen them on the dining tables, in the bins in the restaurant area. Residents feed them plates full and they are allowed in all the internal areas including the inner hallways. One cat meowed outside my room for some time another followed my family in and made itsself at home. The hotel in many area has an underlying smell of cats. Signs should be displayed asking holiday makers not to feed the cats. The staff should move them on and as for being in internal areas that should be a definite no no. The other problem is with the cocktails. There is no shortage of great quality spirits and liqueurs so the ingredients are all there. Of the dozen or so bar staff only two or three are skilled cocktail makers so it’s hit and miss wheather you get a perfect drink or something unrecognisable. The rooms are cleaned daily. There is always a good choice of food, local and international. The waiting staff are lovely.
