Incredible setting and thoughtfully designed villas and public areas to make the best of the euphorbia candelabra, the river gorge, and nearby baobabs. Outside the camp (mostly), a healthy population of leopards, lions, even saw cheetahs on a hunt. Great guiding, and in this unusually hot March, comfortable air conditioning and lovely plunge pool at each villa.

Just go! Possibly one of the most magical places we have visited. The people, the accommodation, the safari treks all were worth it. We saw lots of elephants, zebra, wildebeest, cats and giraffes (some even from our room). From the minute we were met at the air ***** to being dropped off, we felt like family. Food was amazing and the staff outdid themselves. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

This place is fabulous! We were pampered in every possible way. The food was wonderful and prepared in very interesting ways. The bar is well stocked with premium brands. The room was off the charts! It is beautifully designed, beautifully decorated with breathtaking views and complete privacy. We loved the outdoor shower and the private lounging patio while we watched the animals in the river valley. It was serenely comfortable and just what we needed after a few hours of bouncing through the rocky terrain on a game drive. The food, drink, and service were all superb. The camp manager, Lops, assistant manager, Miss T, and all of their staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. The place was spotless, polished, and beautiful. They take full advantage of their gorgeous surroundings. The game drives were fantastic. Our guide, Paul, and our tracker, Pontsho, were terrific. Every outing was interesting and we never wasted a minute. If it was there, we saw it. They both were very engaging and helped us to understand the nuances of what was going on around us. We had morning coffee and sun-downer drinks in spectacular locations. We tracked down lions and leopards, saw all the birds and even a crocodile. The giraffes and elephants were everywhere. Paul expertly maneuvered us to get just the right angle and light for pictures. While Paul was driving, it was great to have Pontsho in the back seat spotting interesting things along the way while fielding questions and teaching us a little Setswana. The banter between them was priceless. The terrain at Mashatu is rugged to say the least. We drove places that I would not have imagined was possible. Those safari Land Cruisers are something else. The off-roading itself was fun, especially at night. We had both a morning session and an evening session at the elephant hide. I thought it might be a little hokey, but it was really awesome. We could have reached out and touched a spotted hyena (a very bad idea!) and watching the infant elephants bother the entire herd had us cracking up. The guide at the hide was knowledgeable about photography as well as animals. This is a premium safari experience in every way.

We spent three nights here and had a fantastic time. From our pick up at the airport to our drop off everything was great. The lodge and villas are stunning. Everything is modern and comfortable. The guides are friendly and knowledgable. Paul showed us around and the game viewing was amazing. He would not give up till we found the lion and leopards Food was very good and the staff is always around to help with anything one would need.

This is our 4th visit to Mashatu and the first camp of our 25 th trip to Africa The lodge is perfect. Compliments to the team that designed and executed this property. It fits in with the surrounding landscape. The bar is expertly run in the evenings. Chef Thebes is extremely creative. The food is excellent. The food service is Michelin star excellent. The hospitality team is A+. The lodge is managed at the highest standards by Miss T and KK. The wildlife is off the charts. 7 unique leopards in 5 nights. Some are shy and some are comfortable. Multiple prides of lion. Wildlife everywhere. Our guide Bellamy and tracker Poncho are two of the best. We always learn from them - nature, culture, history - the time flies. Mashatu is relatively easy to get to. We landed at JNB then took a 45 minute drive to Lanseria international ( almost like a private airport- no crowd and no wait ) and then a 1 + hour flight in a schedule air van charter to Limpopo valley international. LVA is the coolest, nicest and easiest border post of my travels. You meet your guides and the action is on. Extremely simple and in time for lunch if you choose. Also a huge thanks to Judith Hoffman with Mashatu and Lyndall and Shann with Pambele Aviation for receiving and delivering our bags that British Air left at Heathrow. Amazing service abd professionalism. Mashatu is legendary - HIGHLY recommended Michael Maloon

Euphorbia made our entire trip. Out of the 4 lodges we stayed, this by far was the best. Best in service, best in staff, best in design, comfort and hospitality. The area is quite pretty with decent game viewing. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the manager Miss T along with bar tender extraordinaire KG who presented us with a beautiful welcome drink. Miss T gave us the grand tour of the lodge - AMAZING! The design of the lodge as well as the furnishing were thought out with such care. They incorporate within the lodge elements of the surrounding area. The bar area is just beautiful - gorgeous design, art and a well stocked bar and comfortable seating. There is also a beautiful fireplace! The rooms were amazing as well. From the layout, the view to the well stocked minibar. What really made our stay was our extremely knowledgeable guide and spotter - Goms and Jacks. They were amazing in tracking cats that it was mind boggling. Plus their knowledge and passion for the area and animals enhanced our hours together, making each of our drives unique and enjoyable. Plus Goms' driving up and down the rocky embankments in hot pursuit was handled with aplomb. Plus they have wonderful sundowner spots! Once returned to the lodge we were again warming greeted by staff and Miss T as well as interesting mocktails from KG. Not only is he a wonderful mixologist but knows which wines pair perfectly with meals. The had a wonderful selection of wines, especially from South Africa. Meals were served by friendly staff - Jessica, Gloria and KB and were quite tasty. No wish or want was too much. The manager, Miss T is new to the site and quite young but none of which takes away from her expertise in hospitality. She exudes friendless, warmth and knowledge. We looked forward to our evening cocktail chats with her, and her sharing her Botswana culture and experiences with us . This is a well run camp with staff that enhance the experience. Miss T and the Mashatu management have put together a wonderful team! It was hard to leave!

The reason you go on safari is you want to see the African wildlife in their natural habitat. So the Mashatu game reserve is the first thing I would like to address. It is big and the landscape and scenery is magnificent. So many different habitats like plains, mountains, rocks, woods it is like all the different ecosystems are present. It gives you so many beautiful photo opportunities. It is also one big reserve and not owned by many different people so you have no traversing rights and problems which comes with that. Have experienced in other reserves you can not go to particular area or you are strictly bounded to time allowed to traverse. Over here non of that problems, it also means when you see something special they will extend your drive. Also not many lodges so it is quiet and crowded with cars. They don't have the big five, they lack the rhino and buffalo but that is well compensated by other game and an abundance of leopards. During our one week stay we had 14 leopard sightings with 9 different leopards almost all in very beautiful poses in trees. The rangers and trackers are friendly and very knowledgeable and go the extra mile.... The lodge is luxurious, the food is good, everything is clean and the lodge is beautiful situated on top of a cliff with great views on the river and hills. People are very friendly and food was great. I have been in a lot of countries on Safari but I can really recommend this lodge and reserve. Will certainly come back

This was our third visit to Mashatu as part of our 24 th trip to Africa. We have stayed and thoroughly enjoyed both Main Camp and Tented Camp on previous visits. This is our first visit to Euphorbia. This camp is stunning. The design and architecture are worth the trip. This is an eco friendly camp that blends in beautifully with the environment. The rooms are amongst the best safari has to offer. Spacious and bright with stunning views of the valley and cliffs. Perfectly designed and executed. The outstanding camp team run by K K The service is world class. Warm scones and take away coffee in the morning. Lunch when you are ready. The evenings are exceptional. The bar area is relaxing. The wine and drink service is spot on. The safari aspect of Mashatu is legendary. We had the amazing duo of Senior Guide Bellamy and Trekker Poncho to share the magic of this reserve. We were perfectly positioned to see a full on cheetah chase of an impala. Amazingly the impala survived but the entire event was breath taking. We have already booked our second visit to this camp. It will be a home away from home for us. Highly recommended
