We booked a paddock ride for a six year old with no previous experience and were very happy with our visit. We got to meet some of the other animals and then he had a short ride. It started off in the paddock with helpful tips on how to ride, then a little excursion around the farm and finally another round in the paddock. Our guide was very thoughtful and made us feel very welcome. Absolutely recommended

My experience with Geysir Hestar was fantastic. The guide Leila was really friendly, fun to be around, and knowledgeable about horses, which made the tour enjoyable and informative. The surroundings were beautiful. I appreciate that this is a family-run business. It felt like a well-organized, thoughtful experience from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the Icelandic landscape on horseback.

Fantastic experince. The horses where actually very good which is not always the case at horse rentals. Also our guide Tiffany was great and took us on full gallop several times. The whole setup looked very professional and solid and I feel confident in recommending this horse rental as top of the line here in Iceland.

We did not stay here but did the hour field ride with our kids. The kids have experience riding, but my husband and I did not. They were able to make it a great experience for all and we had so much fun! Guide let us know about some of the horses typical behaviors and personalities, and things to watch out for. She always checked in to make sure we were comfortable on the horses and with what we were doing. Staff was knowledgeable and horses easy to ride, even got to do some faster gaits. Great experience and would definitely go back!

We have been returning to Ásta and Hjalti’s fantastic horserental and accomodation close to Geysir for the last five years. The riding tours are fantastic, accomodation is extremely cosy and the hosts and their staff are tip notch. Hands down the best horse rental in Iceland

We did not stay here but we did go horseback riding. It was wonderful! Because it was April and cold, they only offered one hour rides which took us through the fields near the hotel. We were the only two people on the ride and our guide was wonderful. They had extra gloves for us (because it was cold) and after being fitted for helmets and learning the basics we got up on our Icelandic horses and got to ride. Riding the Icelandic horses was different than in the states - they are shorter and they trot differently. Our guide taught us all about the icelandic horses and even talked about the landscape. It was an amazing experience! The location of this is also premium. You are only a few minutes from the Geysir and about 8 minutes from the Gullfoss waterfall which makes it a perfect place to stop on your Golden Circle adventure!

What a wonderful place to stay! Our room was bright, immaculate, had very comfy beds and a fantastic view. The shared living spaces: toilets, showers and kitchen/dining areas were spacious and extremely clean. When we arrived, we were given a tour of the facilities by a very lovely young woman. All throughout the guesthouse, there were inspirational signs that were so uplifting. We loved staying here!!! We also took a two hour River Ride that was amazing! Our guide made sure we were feeling comfortable the whole way. We even forded a stream which has been on my bucket list! This is a place not to be missed! You will love it!

We had a very good riding experience here. My two young children were taken out for a very good paddock lesson run by a member of staff who was very attentive to the children’s safety and to the needs of the horses. They very much enjoyed it. I myself went out for a two-hour ride with Katrin as my guide. I am a nervous rider and Katrin was utterly professional and reassuring, even at times when I felt quite unsure. She really knew her stuff about Icelandic horses too. The horses were all in good condition and looked well cared for. The equipment was also in good condition. I was given time in the paddock to get comfortable with my horse before we left and lots of helpful instructions from Katrin on the way. The trail we took was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed getting out into the Icelandic countryside to places it would be tough to reach by foot and impossible by car. I read the review below before we had arrived and it really made me think about whether to attend. Since we did attend, I am trying to give the most honest review I can to try and help anyone else who is also weighing this up. My sense of this place is that if you go out on a ride with them they really do try to give you a horse riding experience. It’s not the pony treck you might get in some places we have back home where the horse is just being led around the same track it goes around everyday. At this place, you will have the opportunity to ride the horse and experience the wonderful nature of Icelandic horses, each with their own personality. The staff here are happy to do a trek where they walk and lead the horses, so I guess my advice would be to be clear with the staff about your abilities, experience in advance and how you’re feeling once you get up on that horse. It seemed to me that they are more than happy to work with you at the level you are at. The thing I liked most about the place was that they were really up for tailoring the experience to suit our family and what we wanted to do (unlike the pony trek places I mentioned above). We came into contact with three members of staff during our time at this place. I can say for sure none of them were apathetic. All three were knowledgable, caring and had clearly thought about which horses to pair us with.
