Delightful inn full of history and excellent service and food. The cozy room, Bamburgh, was a perfectly adequate space with a lovely view of the expansive garden. Several sitting areas with fires in the inn added to the cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Rooms were spotless and nicely appointed. Towels and robes were fluffy and the shower hot. Tea kettle and snacks provided. Bed was very comfortable. We dined both nights at the inn (upstairs) and were very pleased with the menu selection, the presentation and the flavors. The buffet and hot breakfasts were very generous and tasty. Our party also had a family Sunday roast for 12 in the Gatehouse. Very lovely space for a private gathering. Visited in October 25 for just 2 nights and used as a home base to visit family. Would love to come back and spend more time exploring the reservoir and walking in the area, as well as visiting nearby villages.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Lord Crewe Arms. The staff had kindly left a bottle of Cava in the room as it was our Ruby Wedding anniversary which was a nice touch. We had dinner on the evening and we both had the venison which to be honest was a bit tough. The rooms are all individual and it was full of character. It was warm with a lovely view over the garden. It has a good selection of teas and coffees and home made biscuits and fudge. More milk in the room would be nice to have. In the morning we had breakfast both opting for the full Northumbrian breakfast. What was presented was some quality ingredients however it was spoilt by poor execution. The bacon, black pudding and hash browns had obviously been cooked in advance and put in the oven. This resulted in a good portion of the breakfast resembling leather.

We recently got married at Healey Barn and used the Lord Crewe as our base for the weekend. It provided the perfect setting for our family and friends to join us and celebrate. Megan and the team helped us bulk book the rooms around one year in advance, and organised a BBQ on the Friday night for around 30 guests. We had a private dining room and it made for a great pre-wedding get together. For getting ready, the bridal suite and room below it were absolutely perfect. We had lots of space for 6 of us to have hair and makeup, and have tidy space for pictures and getting dressed. It was the perfect backdrop and Blanchland gave us some incredible pictures as well. I could not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and homely, the food was all delicious and the team make sure you have everything you could possibly need. Thank you again!

On our last visit we were disappointed with service but decided to give it another go. Having booked a table for 4, we were surprised there wasn’t a table for 4 ready so our waiter had to push 2 very heavy tables together. After we were seated we were disappointed not to be asked about drinks. We had to ask twice. Our waiter came to take our orders but we hadn’t even seen a drinks or wine menu. The restaurant was fairy quiet so not much of an atmosphere. Our waiters were 2 very pleasant young men who appeared to be doing everything. Food was really delicious so we definitely weren’t disappointed with that. but unfortunately they really need to get service sorted.

After a few days touring round Northumberland we saved the best hotel till last and it did not disappoint. We loved everything about the Lord Crewe. We would class this hotel as 5 star but yet it is informal with a great relaxing ambience. Excellent food both at breakfast and dinner. Our room was extremely comfortable and we loved all the little extras. Blanchland is a lovely village and we did the walk along the river and enjoyed the village tea-rooms too. All the staff were polite and helpful. Nothing negative to report.

A lovely place and, living relatively locally, thought I would drop in witha friend for a lunch and coffee after returning from a visit to Hexham. While the atmosphere was perfectly acceptable, although training was underway for baristas for coffee We ordered food, and having a venison sausage roll, and a fish finger sandwich to go with coffee, we were hugely disappointed. A small sausage roll with no accompaniment, and a sorry looking fish finger sandwich with little to no fish under a soft bun, totalling £31 with a couple of coffees is just not acceptable.
