Stayed here 4th May. Was a bit apprehensive as after I booked I seen online the hotel was closed. I emailed the hotel and had quick response saying it was under new management and just reopening. When we arrived a lovely friendly couple met us as we got out of the car and showed us to the room. All newly refurbished to a high standard. Massive comfortable bed. Large on wall tv and gorgeous bathroom. Lovely touches like a coffee and tea station with biscuits and 2 cans of coke. They explained the area and advised the bar downstairs would be open in a few weeks as currently under renovation. Would definitely go back. Lovely little village and super friendly owners. Only a small little gripe .no hairdryer in room but I'm sure that was just an oversight as we were their first guest. 10 out of 10

Stayed here last Thursday. What a friendly team they have there. Pub is due to open in 2 weeks (Bank holiday weekend) following a refurb and should become the heart of the community. Rooms have everything you need. Beds are super comfy and showers are to die for. powerful rainfall ones. Craig is a character, you will not stop laughing with his double entendre's . Once the pub is open this will be the perfect location for either access to the peninsular or as a overnight stay near Bristol Airport (20mins) I work in this area quite often and will be using here as a hub. I'm looking forward to seeing Craig, Sue and Les

We went here for an evening meal and it was fantastic! The menu was creative and exciting, not too expensive, and when it arrived, it looked stunning. The food was completely delicious and it was the best food out we've had in ages. The service was also excellent. We felt looked after in a lovely non invasive way. Nothing was too much trouble. I wished we lived close by as would come again in a heartbeat. Thank you Seymour Arms!

We spent two nights in the Woodcock room, whilst attending a wedding at the Aldwick estate. Arrived and advised by a notice, to check-in at the bar downstairs. Not immediately endearing, as the bar person gave us the statutory form to complete, asked for payment up front, our choice for breakfast the following day, gave us a key and told us the room was upstairs. The room itself was OK’ish, although no wardrobe and instead, a portable wheeled hanging rail, which had adopted a rather jaunty angle and certainly would not have taken too much weight. The bathroom, which had a bath with shower over and a rather retro shower curtain, was a little tired and could do with a sympathetic makeover. There is considerable noise from the road at the front of the inn, which we understand is unavoidable. However, there appears to be stud walls between bedrooms/bathrooms, with little use of acoustic materials. Thus, one gets to hear in graphic detail, events occurring in neighbouring rooms. Throughout our stay, we had no cleaning service and no bed making service. Odd, as the in-room commentary, specifically mentions that your room will be serviced between 11:00 and 15:00. Admittedly, we were in the room up until 12:45, preparing for the wedding, but we had made the housekeeper aware of this, so should not have been a problem. We did take dinner in the pub downstairs on our first night and although there was little a**osphere, as the place was somewhat deserted, the food was really very good. Sadly, breakfast was a completely different story. As previously mentioned, you had to select your choice of hot food the previous day. How difficult can it be to prepare two fried eggs on toast with bacon? Clearly, very hard. The resultant solid eggs, with one insipid rasher of bacon, was truly awful. They actually managed this offering, two days on the spin. We did comment, to the young lady, who seemed a bit confused as to what to do about the situation. Anyway, this ‘cooked breakfast’ is complemented by a choice of two juices (not sure if it was cordial or long-life), a few packaged yoghurts and a choice of budget brand cereals. This Inn could be so much better, with some attention to detail and a review of procedure. Blagdon, is a lovely part of the world and affords some great local walks.

We checked on Trip Advisor and it looked ok for a meal and pictures of menus looked great and reviews varied greatly but that can happen. We looked at the website which didn’t say much except under new ownership so booked a 6:30 meal as a bank holiday weekend. When we arrived having walked 10 minutes from our Airbnb it was almost empty and a bit dark. They had no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️ we had booked not that it was needed. We opted to eat outside as it was warmer. Ordered some drinks and the young girl gave us the menu which was pizza 🍕 only, absolutely nothing else no starters no salad, just pizza. So, hey Ho let’s have a pizza. Drinks arrived and as we are choosing the young girl arrived to inform us that they had no cheese 😬 and someone had been dispatched to Weston Super Mare to get some so a delay of 40 minutes to an hour! Honestly, it just cracked us up a limited pizza menu but out of cheese on a bank holiday weekend 🤣🤣🤣 . I explained I was diabetic and could not wait over an hour to eat plus would now have to drive to somewhere to eat and so could not now enjoy the drinks. They offered to book us in another night but we were only there one night and I said I was not prepared to pay. It was a joke!

Having visited The Seymour’s 2 weeks on the trot, I have to say the food and service is absolutely fantastic. Great menu selection and the starter, mains and desserts we beautifully presented and piping hot. Cannot fault any of it, and staff were welcoming efficient and professional. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, give it a go!!😊

Me and my partner stopped here for a roast , lovely looking place nice decor, food was shocking if I could give no stars I would , Yorkshire pudding black on top raw inside, nut roast was like bird food and dry , veg was carrots and Cauliflower but you can pay an extra £2.50 to have cauliflower cheese which was cold , parsnips was like chewing on bamboo, my partners pork bounced back like a trampoline, on the plus side roast potatoes 5/10 best tasting thing was the plain cauliflower no one asked how are food was.

We had gone to Blagdon like so many people do, for a wedding at Coombe Lodge. At first sight, our room was okayish, but not the deluxe accommodation that was promised on the website. The room simply didn't feel clean; it had cobwebs (a lot of them); the bathroom had mould to the left side of the shower; there was no service at all during our two-nght stay there ie. The bed wasn't made, no replenishment of tea, coffee etc. Bins not emptied etc. The room was too hot and the radiators couldn't be switched off. When approached, the staff didn't have a clue how to turn them off. In contrast, there was no hot water, to the point we had a choice of cold shower or no shower on both days. Breakfast was like something from Fawlty Towers; it would have been laughable if it were in a comedy sketch but as it was, it was simply a disgrace.  On the first morning (Sunday), we came down along with 8 other people staying there at our allotted time of 9.30am, to find the door to the restaurant/pub locked.  No staff only a clueless chef who mumbled something to us but clearly had no idea and didn’t seem bothered as to what was happening.  Finally, after keeping us outside for a good 20 minutes, he came and unlocked the door and we walked in and found no staff to serve breakfast and had to find our own juice, coffee, teabags etc.  Eventually, about ¾ of an hour later, someone turned up, apologetic with a tirade of excuses given.  There was no sign of any management whatsoever and I must admit I was expecting Basil Fawlty to arrive And then to breakfast:  Its choice, one can only say was very limited.  A few meagre cereals that were displayed neither appetisingly nor attractively laid out.  There was no fresh fruit or porridge or anything else you would have expected there to be.  We knew what the ‘main’ breakfast menu would be, which was limited to either a full English, a vegetarian English or scrambled/fried egg on toast.  One thing there wasn’t, was semi or skimmed milk, which was unusual; people such as myself have dietary issues with full-cream milk.  I didn’t mention it before we checked in because I have never stayed in a hotel where they have not had semi-skimmed milk.   On the plus side, the evening meal was good. When we came to check out, we complained and staff could only apologise as to our issues and we were told there was no management there. It was agreed that we should not pay the bill until after we had spoken to management who would call us that evening. Unfortunately, no one called us until after the money for the bill had been taken out of our account by the Seymour Arms without a telephone call to authorise it or to apologise in any way, shape or form for the total shambles that had been caused. We finally received a call after an email was sent complaining about the service received. Yes, we received a good discount but to be honest, would have preferred to have not had to complain and come back home content. All in all, the room had a l

This place could have been very nice but for lack of management. The room was very nice but the bathroom was dirty and the toilet had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. It’s the little things like no hairdryer. No bath mat and the floor hadn’t been cleaned. As I said the room was nice but on a 3 night stay it wasn’t serviced once. Bed not made, no clean cups and the tea/coffee/milk was not refreshed. The food in the restaurant was terrible, totally over cooked to a point that it was inedible so much so that we eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay. The breakfast seemed to my as if had been cooked the night before and put in the microwave.
