If your thinking of booking here mmmmm don’t is my advise, this place is awful, rooms are literally basic down to the core, bed should of been ditched about 20 years ago, shower didn’t even flow literally dribbled out so neither of us even bothered having one. Quite honestly couldn’t wait to leave and will never be staying here again. The only positive was leaving and to be fair the girls on shift were lovely and friendly.

We stayed for 1 night September 16th . When we arrived front door locked nobody there. After 30 mins lady turned up to let us in, the dinning room not open tonight. Went to Room 8, later on I found that the bed had not be changed , complainded got a new one, The room was not as on the site photo's. The bathroom was really dirty work done was not finished off. In the room the window was rotten. I used my own mugs, biscuits out of date. We had to go a few miles to get an evening meal. Breakfast was at 8-00am went down the place was in darkness and nobody about. Knocked on night person door he said they should have been there at 7-30am. he phoned the person who should have been there and she would be in about 9-30am. We asked for our breakfast money back that was returned to us. We went to find somewhere to have breakfast. IN reference to the above Mr Patrick E stayed 3 nights did his feed back on 2-05-2025 He was spot on in his remarks. As it was pouring so hard we could not see anything nice about the whole village looked really run down.

Freindly staff but the hotel was a bit tired and unloved. It is in a beautiful location but there are no facilitys in the area, Ffestiniog was dead.

Y Pengwern – where the only thing consistent is the inconsistency. If you're looking for a thrilling game of “Will the shower be ice-cold or melt my skin off?” – look no further! Truly, nothing gets the blood pumping in the morning like wondering if you’ll emerge from your shower with hypothermia or third-degree burns. The ambiance? Imagine a former "budget" hotel that decided to remove the charm of affordability but keep the corners that were cut. Genius. It's like they thought, "Why not charge more and fix nothing?" Inspirational, really. Comfort level? Well, if you find joy in sleeping in what feels like a converted broom cupboard with the atmosphere of a dentist’s waiting room in 1984, you’ll feel right at home. To sum it up: Would I stay here again? Only if all other hotels, hostels, and park benches were full. Probably used to be a charming “budget-type” escape. Now it’s just a budget experience with premium prices. A bold choice – one that I will not be making again.

Stayed in a double bed room with en suite, excellent service and room was clean and tidy, would definitely go again, was perfect for staying a night before the climb before Snowdon, good area that is quiet but close to food and the sea. Even parking available

I do understand why Y Pengwern chooses to not serve food on Mon and Tues ( or Sun eve) as it can be very quiet but on the Weds we geared up to eat there only to be told it was too quiet so they weren't bothering to open the kitchen. None of the local takeaways deliver - none of them - so as we'd had drinks already when we were told this we couldn't drive to somewhere else and went without our meal ! Sorry - I really wanted to like this place but you can't advertise a facility then just not bother to provide it , esp in a tourist location.
