Qualité Super 8. Grande chambre tout confort, vue sur montagne. Très calme, car les chambres tournent le dos à la route. Petit-déjeuner très bien. Personnel serviable.
El Rancho Motel

I hadn't stayed in Bishop for a number of years and thought I'd try the El Rancho Motel since I recalled staying there many years before. Check-in was at The Trees Motel a short distance away (I assume they share the same ownership) - just a slight inconvenience there. The El Rancho facility itself was pretty much as I remembered it - an older one-story motel with fairly small and bare-bones rooms. The place has seen better days but everything was clean and everything worked fine. The only exception to that was the hot water in the sink and shower of the tiny bathroom - it took forever for the hot water to come on but it eventually did. There was a small table and chair, fridge/freezer, and coffeemaker in the room, and the heater worked fine and was reasonably quiet. The bed was comfortable enough, and the TV was good-sized and had plenty of channels. Motels in Bishop seem like they're a bit pricey in general and I didn't think the El Rancho offered great value for what I got. It was ok but I'll most likely look for another option the next time I stay in Bishop.
Vagabond Inn Bishop

Must be fully praised, the location is on the 395 highway, very easy to find, there is a great Chinese restaurant next door to stop the car, 18 pieces of the package to eat the 俺娘 tears, I eat next to the Texas flavor, bricket beef Special stick. The hotel staff is very warm and friendly, the breakfast is also very rich, the price is very reasonable, highly recommended. In the morning, when I pushed the door, I saw the golden snow-capped mountains in the morning sun. It was still very shocking.
Motel 6 Bishop, CA

I have never written a review even for places that seriously disappointed. I'm making an exception for this place. To make a long story short, the manager and a buddy of his were violently aggressive when I arrived at midnight and tried to check in after the reservationist promised a late check in would be no problem. When I arrived, there was an open window with a buzzer, I pushed it and heard it ring. No one answered. I then called the reservation number and told them of the situation. They escalated the call to a supervisor who then put me on hold to contact the motel manager. While on hold, I noticed the room next to the office, which I presumed was the manager's quarters had lights on and I could see through the blinds that there were a couple of people inside. I could hear them speaking loudly. While on hold for over 20 minutes, I then knocked on the manager's door in hopes they could speak with him to check me in. When the manager opened the door, he immediately begain yelling ”why are you here? why are you here?” and then pointing to a sign (I did not see) that said the office closed at 10:00. Both the manager and his friend were clearly intoxicated as, I saw a numerous Corona beer bottles on the table inside the manager's quarters when he opened the door. He immediately became angry and ordered me off the property despite having a reservation. I immediately got into my vehicle when he slammed his fist into my window and then on my side mirror still screaming at me to leave, which I did immediately. Even after crossing the 4 lane highway and parking so I could see if there was another motel open, he and his friend crossed over to the other side and starting coming towards me. I immediately left. Several days later, after returning home, I get a call from a Bishop police officer investigating the manager's claim that I tried to run over him when trying to back off the motel's property. The officer had video from the motel of the incident and, I was told after answering his questions, that my version of what happened matched what he saw in the video. Additionally, the Motel 6 manager neglected to tell the officer that he and his friend left the property, crossed the highway, and tried to engage with me again. The conclusion being that the officer later called me back and he said that after looking at the video again and hearing my version, he would not be forwarding the investigation to the DA. To think that this motel is run by two, presumably drunk and violent people is unimaginable. I am 66yo and 5'6”, 150lbs. The manager was at least 6'2”, 250lbs and no more than 45yo and his friend was similar sized, except skinnier. To say the least, I felt that my safety was in extreme danger. These two violent, presumably intoxicated individuals threatened me (their own video documented the entire situation) and there's nothing I can do about it except tell you of my experience. I have been a loyal Motel 6 cus

The service team of Sandra and Blanca were courteous and very professional. Breakfast was basic but good enough. We stayed at a King Suite above the garage (which I requested it so we'll have fewer ”neighbors” around us), the only thing I noticed was that hot water travels a long distance from the water heater to my unit in cold weather. Took me a while to figure that one out. Overall, it's always a pleasant stay over here. Will be back again.

A traveling retired ski bum like me balks at paying $400/night to stay at Mammoth when I can get a room for a bit over $100 in Bishop an hour away. One has to be careful when staying at less-expensive motels - they can be nasty and are often a crapshoot. Not so here! The rooms aren't very big, but mine was totally fine. Flat-screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, comfortable bed, and quiet. Very clean and no smell. Many restaurants and stores within walking or easy driving distance. I would gladly stay here again.
